Hi Native Borne Family! Greetings from Charlotte NC. I have a quick question. I am seriously interested in moving to Africa, but my biggest concern is that as a Christian will I be able to find a Christian church that I like. You know that here in the states no matter what your religion you have many many choices when it comes to choosing a church. So I'd really like to know what religions are practiced there in Ghana. Also, do Ghanaians have the same religious freedom that we have here in the states? Have you done a video or can you do a video on the different religions/churches in Ghana? That would be super helpful for those of us who are considering moving to Africa/Ghana. Thank you!

Hi Native Borne my question is what happened to the land of our ancestors in Ghana or whatever part of Africa we were from before slavery. The President of Ghana coined the phrase The Year of Return for Black People in the diaspora to return to Ghana. This is in recognition of our 400 years of slavery in America and other places. Under this celebration he states we can get what is called easy visas and have The Right of Abode. That is to be able to purchase land. My concern is why should we have to purchase land that our ancestors owned. Land is passed down from generation to generation. Just like Africans are taking back their land from white land owners in South Africa that stole it we should be given back our land in wherever we were from in Africa before we were captured with the help of Africans and sold to Europeans into slavery. They’re asking us to return but not saying anything about this matter. Europeans owe us as well as Africans. Both should have to compensate us or restore us to our status before they captured and enslaved us. We are Shemites not Hamites. We are from the bloodline of Jacob and Hamites are from the bloodline of Ham. Most Africans know if they’re Hamites or not. Most Shemites don’t know who they are. We didn’t know that in America. They have us believing white people in Israel are Shemites when all ancient Africans were Black People. The African government knows exactly who we are and where our land is. They need to tell us.
I loved how he introduced himself, his name, who he is husband to and who he is father to. That is the African and Caribbean way of identifying oneself. NOT as individuals but as apart of a communal whole. Bless up Sons of Africa who know yourself and culture.
that used to be in the West too, for example the last name Johansson it means he is the son of Johan, people were called like that after their parents
@@bartjelsma Most peoples were named that way. It's only in recent times were patronymics (if your "surname" consists of your father's given name) and/or matronymics (if your "surname" consists of your mother's given name) became permanent family-names/surnames.
In Iceland for example, the traditional way is codified by law, so if your father's name is "Thor", and you're his son, your last name will be "Thorsson" (Thor's son) and so forth.

Interesting enough, I graduated from the University the same year this smart brother did. I was at the special awards ceremony when he won the award. I was the best graduating student (undergrad) in English that year. I'm heading back to join him at the University when I finish my PhD here at A&M. Keep up the good work brothers. We need all the brothers and sisters from the diaspora in Ghana.

I dont know what you mean by living a blackness melinated life because genetically a lighter or white skin color is caused by just 1 mutation in a nucleotide pair among 3.2 billion nucleotides every human has (source NGM april 2018,yea da one with MLK on the cover). Do you also live a rich bloodtype A life?

Nana just made 2019 the year of return for all of the African diaspora. Did you see his address at the 73rd U.N. general Assembly. He has granted all Africans of the diasporas the right of abode calling all Africans in the America’s home to Ghana 🇬🇭 for the golden jubilee in 2019.
Wonderful conversation. Just like the Mom of the Professor you spoke with, I too made my maiden voyage to the Motherland in 1972. Ghana gave new meaning to the word "hospitality".

My mom is from nc. My dad is from Trinidad. We lived less than 30min from the plantation. The plantation is in perquimans co, nc. Gramby is last name. My grandmothers uncles were actually slaves. They founded and built a church in the area. As slaves, the snuck to the same area to have church on sundays.The descendants are still there and attend the church

@@bartjelsma i know many of the black descendants. We are actually distant cousins. Since the 90s, my generation moves away and generations afterward.
No apology. As a matter of fact, my grandmother is in her 90s. They dont talk about it. The children of the sharecroppers who farmed the land during the reconstruction era never complained. Their children(my grandmother was youngest if 13) died off and most moved up north(jersey and penn) and never came back or kept in touch. My grandmother attended college in 1943 in south and grad school at Syracuse. These people tend to preach education and morality and not talk about painful hurts.
the white people or the local government should at least figure out the victims of slavery and the oppression afterwards, acknowlegde it and as a start create something what they are doing at the withney plantation in Lousiana where you can find a memorial with the names of all the slaves who lived and died at the plantation.Next social programs have to be created to bridge the economic gap and awareness programs as well like for example mandatory school trips for all schoolkids to such memorials and museums
white people should fund....or government... sounds like reparations but is common sense,the americans did the same thing to the germans after WWII: forcing them to see and acknowledge what they did to the jews by watching documentary on concentrationcamps or even visiting the concentrationcamps and they were forced to do it

Wow..! This is one of the most insightful videos ever. I recently came back to GH after living in Europe for two decades. There has been a paradigm shift in this Country towards the British imperialism of yesteryear, where a great deal of emphasis was placed on speaking English to the detriment of our native tongues. To speak Twi/Fante in public space is frowned upon and seen as uneducated. Now a generation of kids are being brought up to speak only English (monolingual). Our diversity, names and languages will be lost in a few decades. Naming kids with European names is misconstrued as progress.
pls don't generalise like this. A lot of the things u r saying are exaggerated. Actually a lot more ppl in the last 10yrs hv turned to giving kids local names. And English is not a measure of intelligence in Ghana only a minority of europeanized Africans think like that.
I have made the similar observation that nowadays not every Ghanaian wil address another Ghanaian in the local language

@@AITechCentre I am definitely Black, and unfortunately residing in America (for the moment) My life is missing the connection to Africa. My father's side of my family is from North Carolina. My mother is from Iowa, so for a majority of my life, I've been submerged within the Matrix of America. And like our ancestors have been forced to assimilate, in order to survive. It's a story our People know all too well. But I certainly agree with you and would love to make a trip to Ghana. I'm getting to the point where I can't deal with American society. It's blatant disregard when it comes to the evolution of the human spirit, is becoming toxic to me. Everywhere I look, I see is the deliberate deletion of Life. I keep my cool, but my soul is yearning for a continent in which Black people are free to ACTUALIZE our full potential. Hopefully, my trip to Ghana will be my graduation gift in the summer of 2020, as I am currently studying Creative Writing. My goal is to help the children of this planet break free from an oppressive system. I write children's books to help the Youth wake up their mind and in time become inspired to build a new world. I believe it is the children who have the power to heal humanity. Thanks for the advice on Ghana!! Will be there soon!
