Robert, thanks for passing on the unit to me! You’ll be happy to know that it now has the correct power button cap (as of yesterday). So it does not look as it’s missing a tooth anymore ;-). Now if only I can find a non-chipped replacement for the top bezel of the front panel, it will be perfect... Still one of the nicest low frequency fractional-N synthesizers out there.
Nice video Rob easy to follow. I have The 3325B could you possibly do a video on how to use these instruments just a novice, what connections to use and which buttons to press and the sequence, many thanks
Nice video. I esp. liked it that you went over the tradeoffs for your various switch options. I would have been tempted to hot glue that first black rocker switch in from behind the panel, since the fit was so close and the switch looked good. But your solution was solid, for sure! It would have been interesting to track your thought process about the ribbon cable header plug being backwards. ->Did you see a pic of another generator to clue you in? Finally HATS OFF to HP for not allowing a reversed cable connection to cause a HW failure! In the absense of keying, I mandate such things for ALL designs I supervise. This is a subtlety, for sure. But oh, such cheap insurance... ;-) Dan
Daniel Becker: my first instinct was glue also, but I held off unless I had no other option. As for the cable, I did put it in backwards at first, since a review of the video didn't show the orientation. Then I traced out where the switch went and determined the correct orientation.
I just bought one of the 3325a and there’s a piece Of tape on top that says NO DC OFFSET was that a option or do you think there’s something wrong internally? Would you even need the dc offset when doing ham radio repair ?
You were lucky that the only(?) problem was a missing power switch. BTW, you referred to a couple of switches toggle switches. They would be more commonly known as rocker switches.

The commentary made me think, "Bob Ross tries to fix..."!
"Happy accidents..."
Hi Rob, those are very nice signal generators. I got mine for about $125 on eBay. I haven't looked in mine so very cool seeing the inside of yours.
Can I just say how much I enjoy your theme music?

The original switch is a SHADOW TYP NE 15

Kevin Cozens: it's true.

For how much did take that?
I bought it for $75 on eBay (plus $25 shipping). I bought the switch for $0.25 at the surplus store.
