Great Video, I had a question does Google make it easy to get jobs in California if you live in Canada. Will they assist in getting a work visa?

These pay levels are insane compared to the rest of the market. I guess they have to pay a lot because they are in San Francisco? Anyone want to join our tech company and work in Andorra? The cost of living and taxes are super cheap and it's like a large ski resort.

Something I wonder is if salaries tend to grow, stay the same or shrink. I can totally see how salaries for SEs will go down a lot once the supply of good/great engineers becomes saturated. Currently it is still a problem to find experienced devs because there are more new dev jobs each year than there are new devs. I think it is comparable to the mechanical engineer/physics engineer salaries that used to be extremely high like modern SE salaries but today in 2021 the market is close to saturated and so salaries have shrunk down a ton.

About the same as the other entry level software engineers. For entry level engineers salary ranges tend to be somewhat narrow, although if you are getting into a more specialized field like AI/ML research then you might be able to command a higher salary. So maybe $10,000 - $20,000 more than the average; honestly the number isn't enough to get a PHD just for the salary increase.

I personally like Scala. Since it's built on the JVM, it has a lot if similarities (syntactically and OOP) to Java. I really love the use of Options and Maybe in Scala (I think Java recently added Options which is nice).
My team uses PlayProxy as our API library which has it's ups and downs, but overall it gets the job done.
