  • We built a boring gravel road and changed Berm Peak forever!
Today, we’ll build a gravel road at the very bottom of Berm Peak, so that we can use the driveway to climb back up to the top. For the first time, we’ll be able to ride all the way to the bottom of the trail system, and climb back up all on a mountain bike. Here to help us today are Kevin, James, and Alexander.

I sorely miss my Volunteer Trail Stewards work days; trail 12 is in desperate need of rehabbing after last summer's logging, and our last work day, back in Feb., was brutal; it was 6" of peanut butter-textured mud, and we didn't come close to finishing. You could always use the wood chipper thing. Save the little chips that are cut up. And any spots on trails that are either too soft or just need a little help for riding, put the little chips there. It helps the soil kinda keep shape a little. Helps texture for riding and it’ll look good.

Even boring is fun on Berm peak. I've got my own "Berk Hill" going in my backyard. A 2 foot deck and roll-in, a wooden roller, a dirt roller, and a berm at the bottom. The more dirt I can get from a local landscaper the more we will grow it. I've got an almost 6 year old who can rip it all, a 4 year old on a balance bike and a 2 year old on a balance bike who I help down all the obstacles. Thanks for the inspiration!
