@@MrOarsonMost of that speech is attributed to the 7th Doctor - who casually wiped out a billion Daleks in one single episode. He was a machiavellian schemer who would convince 90% of the antagonists to kill themselves. When you've lived and travelled as much as the Doc - facing universal threats like they're just another Tuesday - even a pacifist will break some eggs. In fact, the Doctor has a ridiculously high kill-count, even if you ignore all undesired/accidental deaths and focus only only intentional/complicit kills. The important thing is - the Doctor desperately tries to avoid as much death as non-humanly possible.

Millions planets died, entire species were made extinct. Hell, some actually were wiped from existence as if you never remembered them, no matter how important they were to your life.
In fact, it was so bad, The current Doctor at the time, The Eight Doctor tried his damn hardest to stay out of the War, but failed because the War so expansive, he could never truly escape, it got so bad, The Eight Doctor (one of the most optimistic and sweetest of The Doctors) actually stated he would rather die, and by this point, The Doctor in his previous Regeneration had gone into a War against the Monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos (You know, the creatures if you so much gaze on their true form you would go into insanity?) and WON. Hell, The Eighth Doctor would've actually died if not for the fact he was convinced to Regenerate, because if the fact if he died. The Rest of the universe would follow.

Funny thing is, if The Doctor tried to kill Rick, instead of just playing defensively, this would have ended in like 3 seconds. But he hates killing, he's like Rick if Rick grew up to his age, old enough to be very, very, very, very, very good at killing, but just tired of wiping out lives. Rick is still in his genocide phase nihilist phase, the Doctor has had like 3 of those. It's why he said he knows people like Rick, the nihilists, because he's been Rick more then once and it never ended well. Rick with a few thousand more years of experience could probably beat the Doctor, but this fight was putting essentially a child against a grandfather.

@@DIVECRAFTVODS Nah, it's not something that gets explicitly spelled out. But Time Lords can definitely do it. Some examples:
When Missy escaped from being restrained, she crossed the room and got right up behind Osgood without making a single noise in the split second she took her eyes off of her.
Another time, the 7th Doctor and Ace are driving. They go into a small tunnel. Ace is driving when they go in, but when they come out a moment later the Doctor is driving. In the novelization of this episode Ace makes it clear in her internal dialogue that she has no idea how the Doctor made that happen.
If multiple Time Lords show the ability to do this, I think it's pretty safe to say they can. It just doesn't come up much.

    - The Doctor was pretty much nerfed in this and still outclassed Rick. Whole time he wasn't even trying to fight and trying to avoid conflict. If this was the 7th he probably could had manipulated Rick into taking his own life with words alone, which he has done plenty of times. By Time Lords standards The Doctor was considered pretty mediocre
    - Doctor Who is 60 years old as of this year. Out dates Men in Black by over 30 years
    - Screaming sun is a reference from season 3 of R&M. 7 seasons total, 4 of them been out 2019
    - Police boxes were telephones used by patrolling officers to keep in contact with the stations. Was also used for meal breaks and temporary keep people is custody until transport arrival.
    - Tardis' disguise themselves in the environment wherever they land. They landed in 1963 so it tuned into a police box but it got stuck like that do to a fault in it's Chameleon Circuit. The Doctor's ship is actually an outdated and faulty model
    - Daleks could match Time Lords technology. One point even created a weapon that would wipe out the whole of reality. Like everything.
    - 17:26 You can see Megatron, Frieza, Darth Vader, Harley Quinn and Jinx in the background
    - "Why'd he sound Australian?" Scottish. David Tennant(10th Doctor) is Scottish

I loved how the Doctor was portrayed in the animation. He never directly attacks Rick through the entire fight, mostly just trying to escape or playing defense, and he is also reluctant to use his weapons like the De-Mat, which is perfect, since the Doctor is a pacifist who hates killing or using guns.
It was perfect to have the Doctor fight in a more indirect way that makes use of the environment and his intelligence to make Rick defeat himself, which is exactly how the Doctor fights in the actual show, he wins by outsmarting, not by outgunning.
The regeneration scene was also beautiful, the Doctor getting an epic speech is another thing that the actual show does often, and it was great how they referenced an iconic moment from the show with the "I don't wanna go" scene, but used it in another context, as in the show that line was a sad moment where the Doctor couldn't do anything to stop what would happen ("I don't wanna go, but I have no choice"), while here it is used to shut down Rick's nihilist mentality ("I don't wanna go, which is why I won't give up.")
Honestly, their whole clash of ideologies was great, with Rick being a complete nihilist who thinks nothing in life means anything, and the Doctor being a altruist who sees beauty and hope in everything. This was just a really good episode in terms of how the fighters were characterized.

just a heads up for people, the next fight isn't so much a "Goku vs Superman 3" as it is a reboot. It's no secret that the info in the older episodes is VERY outdated and Death Battle's research methodology has evolved a lot in the 8 years since Goku vs Superman 2 in 2015. So this is them tackling this debate again using their modern research
Ben Singer (the voice of Wiz) has also gone on record to say he despised Goku vs Superman 2, saying that was an episode he wanted to undo, for how it portrayed both characters. So don't expect "Superman is Infinite = The End" to be a win-condition this time (though if Goku Black vs Reverse Flash and Vegeta vs Thor is anything to go by, it doesn't matter. Supes is still winning). They even renamed the older 2 episodes and called Goku vs Superman 2 "The Irrelevant Sequel" just to drive home the fact that the entire Death Battle team disowns that fight.
Also according to Death Battle the episode is meant to be a send off to both characters, meaning they won't appear again after it is all said and done. Which is kinda sad because there are some great matchups for both Goku and Superman that doesn't involve each other, like Goku vs Jin Mori (from The God of Highschool) or Superman vs Optimus Prime.

The reason they're doing Goku vs Superman 3 is for a few reasons:
    - Ben wanted to do something special for Season 10, as that's a huge milestone for the show, and Goku vs Supes is arguably their most well-known episode, so having a rematch feels apt
    - The show has come a long way since their early seasons and the way they conduct their research is vastly different than how it was when the first two came out
    - Most, if not all, of the Death Battle team consider Goku vs Superman 2 as something of a failure, evident by them changing the titles of the two previous episodes to be "Goku vs Superman | The Classic One" and "Goku vs Superman 2 | The Irrelevant Sequel"

As for where and how to watch the show, that depends on where in the world you are. But once you can access it I personally recommend starting with the 2005 series onwards, and then going back and watching the older stuff later if you're curious.
The especially older stuff can be difficult to get into for a modern viewer, and the missing episodes don't make it any easier.
You don't need to have seen everything that came before it to understand the modern series, but there are a lot of really good stories from every corner of the show.
If you want to start somewhere in the classic series without worrying about missing episodes, I'd go for either Season 7 or Season 12. Though most of the classic stories aren't heavily connected to each other anyway so it's fine to jump around and just watch whichever ones sound the most interesting.
Apparently the latest series is supposed to be a good jumping on point as well, but I've yet to see it since I live outside the UK and don't currently have a Disney plus subscription, so I can't personally say one way or another.

7:05 In 2018 there were three seasons. Now they are working on their seventh, so almost four.
7:24 A police box was a type of phone booth that only connected to the police. It was used by officers needing to call something in or by civilians wishing to contact the police. It also could function as a miniature police station or to contain prisoners for a while. They were most commonly used in the United Kingdom but with the advent of portable radios and cell phones, they fell out of use. Now Doctor Who owns the copyright on them as they are really the only ones still using them.
The TARDIS has a chameleon circuit that allows it to change its appearance to something you commonly see in that place and time. It broke so it got stuck as a police box and the Doctor likes it that way so he never fixed it.

Doctor Who isy favorite series of all time, and the Doctor himself is my favorite character in fiction.
Death Battle really portrayed him fantastically and this episode was one of my favorites.
And the funny thing is. The REALLY funny thing is...they really used the absolute bear minimum.
The Demat gun is really cool, but it's basically a Time Lord equivalent of an infantry rifle. Looking at things like The Moment, The Eye of Harmony, The Glory, all things which are more like Time Lord WMDs, it's nothing.
The Doctor has several methods of becoming an all-powerful reality warper who can rewrite causality post-hoc to ensure he made it to that point.
Even without those things the laws of cause and effect twist to his needs subconsciously as all of reality wants him to succeed and knows how important he is.
That doesn't even get into how the TARDIS, despite being an outdated and faulty model, is a legitimate contender for the most powerful artifact in fiction, considering two of them fought the Quantum Archangel and forced her to retreat (a being that had merged with the underlying fabric of reality and basically WAS reality made manifest and given a will).
Rick is a crazy, multiversal tiered super-genius and yet he is so many degrees of magnitude beneath the Doctor that it's frankly one of the most one-sided matchups Death Battle has ever had if they had actually used everything.

The Torchwood Institute was established by Queen Victoria after an encounter with the Doctor and Rose Tyler. It is meant to fight against supernatural and alien threats, which she included the Doctor in that list, as she found his actions and mannerisms too strange. Ironically one of the Doctor's former companions became the head of Torchwood. Torchwood is also an anagram for Doctor Who.

I would highly recommend checking Doctor Who out if this Death Battle got you a bit intrigued. Best part is, you don't even need knowledge of the original run that started in the 60s and ended in the 80's; the 2005 revival is the best place to start, and there will be several callbacks to the original run that may pique your interest into checking, IF you decide to go down this rabbit hole at all.
It is worth nothing though, a good amount of episodes involving the First and Second Doctor from 1966-1969 are presumed lost forever, as the BBC didn't see any value in preserving anything until into the early 70s, though there have slowly been animated recreations of those lost episodes using the audio that survived in certain cases.

They have like a chat about these fights and have one team mamber defend each side. Then they poll social media outlets to see what fans think. When Rick vs the Doctor came up, Doctor won by a landslide.

From my knowledge, Police Boxes were used in the streets in the UK in the early 1940s that were close to what you say, the college campus emergency stations, but had a few more uses. For example, the Police Public Call Boxes have a telephone in the front compartment to call police, but also policemen could put criminals they've caught inside the police box and lock it, in which they could call the station and have backup come pick up the criminal to be brought into custody.

So a Police box, Back before cell phones were a thing, you had to use a hard wired phone. so if you were in the middle of town, you had pay phones. A "police box" was more or less a 911 pay phone. Go inside, close the door, call the police.

People are have all hit on what Police Boxes are primarily. They're Phone booths that directly connect to emergency services. But they also lock from both inside and outside independently of one another. This means if you're being chased, you can lock yourself in the box and be safe until the police arrive. Or if you're a beat cop you can lock up a thug until a car comes to bring them in to the office for a real cell.

A police box is something that used to be all over the UK. Think of it as a temporary holding cell. Let’s say a police officer arrested a random crook or a drunk on the street. They’d simply be able to shove them into one of these blue boxes for temporary containment and then use the phone built into the box (in a small hatch) to call for backup and a way to transfer them to prison. The phone also doubled as a way for police officers to check in with their home office.

Back in the day, before cell phones, there would be special boxes set up in england where, if you were in trouble, you could run to and pick up the phone to immediately call the police. Those were police boxes.

On paper, they are doing Goku vs Superman 3. But they’re using the strongest Goku from Heroes against the strongest Superman from Infinite Frontier, so it’s actually more accurate to say that this is a character that looks and sounds like Goku vs a character that looks and sounds like Superman. The team said that they’re doing this to correct their poor research in rounds 1 and 2, modernize those episodes, and make up for the fact that the Goku they used at the time was the equivalent of an alternate skin in a video game.

Kinda a police box is a well box in which a policeman might sit, have a cup of tea and use it as a camp site on their patrols throughout London, since London is typically wet or raining or cloudy it’s mostly just used as a form of shelter for any nearby police officers, along with a telephone built into it.

Ah yes the iconic big blue box. Police Boxes are relics of a century ago, they were basically temporary holding cells for citizen arrests, you would shove a criminal inside and use the phone in the door to call your local coppers to pick up the ne'er-do-well. The show creators made the Doctor's time machine one because they were common enough to not stand out in Britain but ironically fell out of use just as Doctor Who started and they aren't around anymore. The BBC actually bought the rights to the boxes from the government so even the Police can't make them now, crazy.

How do you fight an opponent who can time travel? With time travel. Both the Time Lords and the Daleks could time travel and fought each other in the Time Wars. You see time is a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff, and battling an opponent in it gets messy. Some things you very much aren't allowed to do. Things get bad if there are two of you in the same location at the same time, though less damaging if they are different incarnations of the same person. Both the Time Lords and the Daleks got wiped out in it but also both survived. The Daleks have been wiped out several times but keep managing to find a way to return.
