I’m actually rather surprised the mistress turned herself in. I suppose it points to the fact that she might actually care about him, but I honestly never saw that in her previous actions. Everything she did always seemed calculated to provide the best future for herself and her child, even at the expense of his family and his son. I’ll still never forget that scene when he was critical of her unfair treatment of the kids, and she turned it around and said that since he left his first wife and was now unhappy with her, maybe the problem was with him. Very manipulative from the moment she seduced him (and yes, she pursued him with purpose…it wasn’t just a spontaneous affair) and continued after married life with how she handled his ex, his parents, and his kid. Though I felt little sympathy for the parents as they were very selfish in their actions towards the ex-wife and took advantage of their age and status to try and cheat her out of her divorce settlement.
