Bought the student version for solidworks class to be able to do coursework at home and I can not download it to pc. The download tab is greyed out in the installation manager page.
@@Ahmed-fy5op I did not solve it and got my money back, We had many students in my college solidworks class that had same issue. So the college ended up giving us all remote access from home to log into the school computers to use solidworks. It was slow but got the job done for class.

It depends what licenses are included with your serial number and what products you selected to install, in some instances you will not get the flow simulation option when activating.

You should be able to install Solidworks on a External drive if it is mounted correctly, if you run into errors I would recommend googling those errors, as they are windows errors not Solidworks ones. You can leave the install files anywhere for this. An i3 can run Solidworks, however it will struggle with more complex parts and assemblies and won't be good if you want to do simulations.

At 2:10 you pressed "Unzip"; when I do it I get an error message that says I have a damaged ZIP file. What programs do you have on your computer that allow you to unzip? WinRAR? 7Zip?
Hi, its a self containted ZIP file so it does not require an external program to extract, you could try installing winzip but I would first recommend redownloading the installer to ensure the issue is not with that.
The download is only the installation manager, it should download all the files required to install, ensure that on the page at 3:52 you select "Download and Install". If you wish to download the full installation files beforehand, on the page at 2:34, select "Download and Share". This will download the whole 16GB of install files.

Do you have internet access? If so, do you have a serial number on active subscription? You won't be able to download if the serial number is old or intended for an older version.

Solidworks cannot natively run on a Mac, you'll either need to install Windows via bootcamp, or use a virtual machine like parallels to run it within the MacOS.

You were likely given what is termed a "Student Standard" to "SDK" serial number, this does not come with toolbox. If this is not the case speak to your lecturer.

It sounds like you're trying to install a server edition? Possibly the serial number you are using is a server serial number and not the standalone one. If you bought education edition from a VAR, then they should be able to give you the SEK serial number as well for standalone installations.
Sir, I've downloaded the Student version of SolidWorks 2019, but when I try to open it after I installed it, it just generates a crash report automatically. And it just goes like that over and over. I've tried pretty much everything, uninstalling the program, opening SolidWorks in SafeMode etc. Is there any hope? It is dependent on what products you select, your lecturers have been given a document to share with you that can reduce the download size. The lowest it can be is ~3.1GB

If you still have access to a valid student serial number then you can install it, without a valid serial number this will not be possible (these are gotten from your lecturer or the university).
There are two types of student serial numbers, yours is likely the one that doesn't include flow simulation, OR you did not install flow simulation(hence why its not showing up in the activation option). If you don't need flow simulation then this is fine.

Student Licenses validity is dependent on when the Universities subscription expires, the University or lecturer will know how long a license is valid. You can check this in your side by going to Help > Licenses > Show and in the "Activation Expires" column you'll see when the license expires.

Hi There, if your University, College or Educational Institute has bought Solidworks, you can get the SEK/SDK serial number from them, otherwise you can buy the student edition directly from Solidworks, hope this helps.
Student licenses are renewed every year. It is best to get the new license serial number from your lecturer every year, that way you can be always up to date and on the latest version of Solidworks.
Hi Selaelo, you must run the .exe file, it will then place a "sldim" folder down in the location you specified, as well as a setup.exe file. Run the setup.exe file to start the installation manager, from there you can proceed with the install. The download from the website as mentioned in the video is only the installation manager, not all the files required for Solidworks, the installation manager should download the rest of the files you need.
It can be tricky sometimes, try a few times it tends to download eventually. If you still have issues ask for a fellow student or the lecturer to provide you with the install files.

Hi Selaelo, you must run the .exe file, it will then place a "sldim" folder down in the location you specified, as well as a setup.exe file. Run the setup.exe file to start the installation manager, from there you can proceed with the install. The download from the website as mentioned in the video is only the installation manager, not all the files required for Solidworks, the installation manager should download the rest of the files you need.

It can be tricky sometimes, try a few times it tends to download eventually. If you still have issues ask for a fellow student or the lecturer to provide you with the install files.
