4:15 hey I know that guy! Nice overview video. I've been using their older Pi 4 version in two places for years. Can't wait to try their new case, cool to see them iterating on it and making things a little nicer.
👋 Do we ever, truly, know ourselves? 🤔
Who is that guy? 😅🤣
Updated video on the pi 5 emulation with like batocera or recall box or retro pi
My same thoughts .... emulation with this "full set" and maybe with a larger NVME disk to contain the emulators + ROMs. Thanks a lot.
Forgot about that, yeah
leepspvideo made a video on that recently
Been waiting for this. Should have known it would be Prime bringing me the first review. Cheers, P.
Perfect timing ETA; I just flashed my recently unboxed RPi5; plan to use my current RPi5 standard plastic official case while allowing the industry time to release some unique cases with M.2 and a variety of fan/cooling options surface, as they typically do. LOVE THE CHANNEL DAILY. thanks for the RPi5 retro gaming content.
@ETAPRIME Thanks for making this content. Excellent hands-on demonstration.
I absolutly LOVE this new Argon design!
I love that we get that usb 3 port back from the raspberry pi 4 case
Absolutely awesome. Great videos, ETA! Y
I was just looking to get into this! The deals here are way better than what I found on Amazon.
Love my Argon on the pi4... I will definitely be picking one up when I get my pi5.
Nice was waiting for that case. Still use the pi4 one as my PiHole/DNS/NAS
You can also force the Pi 5 to use PCIe Gen 3.0 and get closer to 900 MB/sec with an M.2
I've recently just bought the Argo One V3 case for my Pi 5and I have been waiting for you to review this and as always you never disappoint. Great review as always, thanks for showing the improved performance using NVME. I know the Pi 5 runs hot but the CPU temps looked ok even with the overclock.
Eta Prime everything we see on this video is out of stock on the website, even the pre-order ! It's weird that they send you this and don't have anything to sell... Why ?
at this point might as well review gta6 lol.
great case mine comes today
Just got my pi5 today finally. Now I have to wait for this...... ARGH!
This looks cool. Want to see a CM5 version of this
Reminds me of a game console. I like it.
I know you've done a video about Android on SBC's in the past and how good they were, but it'd be nice to see an updated roundup on them to see how well things run, especially once the pi5 get's a solid build.
Thanks for the video. Case looks great. I really like the Pi 4 case and I’ve been trying to buy the pi 5 version for weeks but it just says sold out. Any chance Argon can set expectations of availability? It’s hard to watch videos like this for unobtainable stuff. Thanks!
Long time user of the V1(with the M.2 upgrade) been waiting for the RPI5 case to decide if I will be moving to RPI5 or something else.
hey eta prime i was wondering if the camera from your The New Raspberry Pi HQ Camera Is Awesome! video would work with the rasberry pi 5? I also love your videos
pretty niiice. i'm stickin with my raspi4 for a while longer tho.
I have always loved the Argon One design language, I would love it if they made a laptop case for the Pi 5 I feel it would look like the Kaypro 2000 “vader” laptop
Hey brother, I love your videos. I’m trying to work on a few projects on my raspberry pies. Wondering if there’s anyway if you happen to have a little time I’m trying to get retro pi on a pi zero
Great vide as usual, What model NVME did yuo het working, just recived my ArgoneOne V3 NVME for Pi 5 as well, followed Jeff`s vid as well, tried 3 different NVME m.2 drives, still not seeing any NVME .
I've been waiting for Argon to do this case for the Pi5, but without the NVME expansion. However everything is sold out atm. Also I wish they didn't switch over to black. I really liked the old dark grey.
Looks nice, but for my use case, power button at the rear is a fail. 😮
could you show like laptops with the gaming handheld or mini pc processors that cheap gaming laptop concept sounds cool
very good comments ; thanks the little ribbon cable is quite difficult to install but..overall a very good case.could you please telle me where could i get the very nice raspberry wallpaper?
Can you load ubunto on the nvme instead of pi5 OS? Can it dual boot if PiOS stays on the nvme?
Thanks
Maybe I should try out one day. My ARM based PC is funny enough, a Nintendo Switch running L4T Ubuntu and my other Mini PC is a M93p Tiny with a hacky i7-4960HQ running MacOS
Any suggestions on setting up this config with batocera or using raspi OS would be the way to go?
Is it possible to run such case from a powerbank, or will it just drain to quick to make sense? for my Pi4 with argon case i am able to run about 3-4 hours on powerbank including the powerbank also powering a monitor
Thanks for the video! I've been waiting a long time for a case like this, there's finally one! Can I actually install a new operating system on the M2 SSD of the Raspberry Pi 5 using an image on a USB stick?
Yes, you have to as the sd card slot is not accessible.
as long as your new operating system has an ARM version.... for instance Debian and Ubuntu have ARM versions; while Linux Mint won't work as it has no ARM version (yet). So with any O/S you want to install, you need to check if it has an ARM version first...
The HDMI and usb C connectors look quite recessed - have you had any issues with cables not being able to coonect?
My 2TB Crucial P3 Gen3 Nvme M.2 SSD scores 60238 on that pibenchmarks with HDParms in the 800+ MB/sec. You said you enabled gen3 speeds but I guess it's 'coz its Kingston and a lower capacity 500GB SSD that's why it's slower. We get the same max temps though using stress. Mine also at 67°C but mine is not OC'ed so I guess yours is better. Mine is a headless install since I don't need a desktop environment for my purpose---running the Pi 5 mainly as a server (Debian with CasaOS as a docker manager & dashboard).
I've been waiting for that Argon case for the Pi 5 but now I'm using a different one and I have everything set up perfectly. I have no need for the HDMIs since I only SSH to my Pi 5 when accessing it. Maybe when I get another Pi 5 as a replacement for my Firestick/Chromecast I'll consider getting the Argon V3. 🤔Nvidia really should make a more powerful up-to-date version of Nvidia Shield. 😑
hola, no se puede acceder a la microsd una vez montada la caja en las raspberry ?
The case don't have access to the sd card reader! That really sucks!
Does this have any Bluetooth issues ? I have argon with pi4 Bluetooth is often breaking with my Bose speaker
Got a version of this for a friend on a Pi4, just to give a heads up, the cooling and overall performance was great but it killed the range on the WiFi and Bluetooth devices.
So keep that in mind on here, it's something most reviewers won't pick up on because they are playing from a few feet away or have stuff hardwired in, but if you are trying to play from across the room using a PS5 or Xbox controller, your connection can get spotty and if you are using WiFi at a distance from your router, your signal can drop off faster than you would think.
is that issue with this case only or is it available in the flir, canakit?
What kind of CPU performance does this have? There are fully functional computers in $100 to $200 range.
Notes to be aware of:
-Audio DAC is not available yet
-Use 2tb or less or else you're looking for extra struggles
-No MicroSD access with the base installed
They need to add a boot menu option to NETBOOT at the very least or give the pi another way of selecting a boot device without having to have raspbian installed on a flashdrive or SD Card. I Ubuntu doesn't even have an option to change the boot device after installing raspi-config. It's retarded to have to keep swapping back and forth between devices to do what you want to do with it.
@@luigiprovencher8888smart play is to set that up before you close everything up. I set my boot order to
USB
NVME
HTTP boot
Repeat
Should be: 0xf764
Aww shit been waiting for this one!
Bah I was ready to order one of these but they're outta stock on Argon's site and Amazon doesn't have it yet... My local Microcenter doesn't have it (yet) either.. Good video as always though...
I have an Argon V2 for my pi 4 and preordered the V3 for my pi 5, but didn't see the nvme base model on the site when I preordered. Now they're out of stock 🤬
I emailed though and they said they should restock in march...
🤞
they also have an optional DAC and a remote for that case
Can you make a video on the Argon Pi 5 case?
The Argon One cases are nice but they aren't stackable and you lose the usb-c OTG which is such a shame.
Do you know how to set up smb for Kodi to recognise a usb drive attached to a router?
What is the script to install and configure the fan anyone ?
I read that there are problems with the NVME. The hard drives are not recognized, etc.
Can you tell us something about that? I ordered one and actually wanted to install a 2TB M2.
Dumb question, but will Argon make a case for the newer Pi5 for their EON NAS case?
I gave up on ARM a long time ago. The lack of software support kills it. That's why the raspberry pi is still a thing. It's the only one that has excellent software support. With X86 you can just use windows or Linux.
will this case support a PoE HAT? My guess from its shape is no, but I figured I should check, just in case.
I can't go back to using a separate USB plug now that I have gotten used to the convenience of PoE.
49.00 is cheap considering all you get with it. Especially if you add the NVME drive. Whats the limit on the drive size? 4gb? Obvioulsy not for lots of games (except retro games), but i am thinking of using one for a workstation. Will need to check this out, because it sounds like a great setup.
I have the old case for RPi4 +M2 ssd.
There are two problems with this review.
Firstly the negative impact of the metal case on Bluetooth and perhaps Wifi.
Especially compared to the original plastic cases.
Most noticeable is Bluetooth range for wireless keyboard and mouse.
Usage case is as a media player connected to a TV, mouse and keyboard on a coffee table.
My second point is thermal performance is related to ambient temperature.
So you should always state your room temperature as it affects the test outcome.
One advantage of the ArgonOne 4 case is the boot on power up jumper.
Does this new case have that same feature?
Apart from the two points mentioned it’s a great review vid😀
do the the aluminum canakit cause wifi and bluetooth issues as well?
What’s is the keyboard showed in the video thumbnail ?
How about overclocking to the limit with watercooling?
Hi, I use an M.2 NVME 1 TB drive inside my argon one V3 case but the fan won‘t come on. The scripts for the case referring to the manual delivered with the argon one V3 does not work with Ubuntu 23.10! Do you have an idea how I can set fan control within Ubuntu 23.10?
Hmm torn between an 8gb Rpi5 with this case and like a 1tb NVMe, or a Mac mini lol for a homelab server (I know neither will be top tier but will be fun lol)
Personally, I think it needs a version 3.1 or 3.5, because the RAM and the USB 3.0 chip also need cooling. I understand selling the DAC separately, but a pro version that includes it would maybe be great.
Now that the Argon Pi 5 NVME case is out, I can finally get a Raspberry Pi 5.
only thing missing is a slot for the camera ribbon cable to come out...
You beat me to it, Prime. You set the bar, and now I must deliver in my video. 💯
What's the point of this kind of setup, for those not using gpio interface, when you can buy Intel n100 based minipc devices in cases with usb4 single cable mode support for appx $160?
This 💯
For a lot of people, this is about the customisation, learning, and "Hobby" side of things and i totally get that. That said, you have to consider your use case nowadays as, whilst the Pi4 /2GB was/is a fantastic/cheap emulation device, Pi5 is not a giant leap. Cheaper X86 SBC exist now like "YouYeeToo X1" and "Radxa X2L" and still feel like a hobby/fun boards but for emulation. (& as others stated, N100/N95 NUC if you just wanna play and don't care about the hobby/learning/customisation side of things.)
Could you tell me pls if a nuc 7i5bnk would be better than a rp5 or a n100 in terms of performance?
I would like to have home assistant on that machine running in docker (I already bought the pineberry pi nvme shield and the case, but not yet the rp5)
@@Paw_Low I asked my preferred genAI service, copilot, the following "In table format, please list the geekbench CPU and GPU scores for an intel i5-7260U, an Intel N100 and a Raspberry Pi 5". The results suggested the best performance to least would be n100, nuc 7i5bnk i5-7260u and raspberry pi 5.
Raspberry Pi5 is really beautiful and powerful looking computer. I've been dreaming on creating my own handheld gaming pc. Is it possible with that new Raspberry Pi5? 😮😊
Handheld gaming pc? As for (19 Feb 2024) [Easy options] - no. [Difficult] - yes possible. Problematic parts will be the case, you would need to put everything together, battery (powerbank), some gamepad, screen, case... My guess you would need to wait for some RETROFLAG, or some other company to come up with some "GameBoy case" or "PSP" case that you will PI5 inside and be good to go. Keep on searching, PI5 just came out.
Yes
Damn first comment congrats buddy
Please review Argon NEO 5 NVMe case.
Will you test it to run games?.
Can you do a Jellyfin test on this box? I've been thinking to replace my Plex server with this exact setup pairing with Jellyfin.
Jellyfin has a warning on their website, that you should avoid using the Pi 5, as it only has a h265 decoder. All other transcoding will be done on the CPU without VPU hardware acceleration.
Been trying since they said it was coming out to get this from Argon, but its been out of stock even before its ship date "Ships out starting January 25, 2024" & it is still out of stock. :(
How fast is vs code using mvme m2 ssd. It was slow on sd card, input was slow also. I am planning to use Pi for coding. Can you confirm that on nvme m2 ssd is fast and not slugish? Thank you in advance
why you did not remove the top layer from NVMe, then put the thermal pad ...
I said it on the last Pi and I'll say it again: Every case needs to make the HDMI ports on the Pi to full size. I get why they use them, to save space, but when putting it in a case with good cooling makes it bigger anyway.
Aussies. Pi-Mania have these all in stock.
Hey Prime, I just received my Argon nvme case via preorder, and I really love it. However, I can't get it to read my nvme drive. I double and triple checked to make sure the ribbon cable is facing the right direction and everything is connected well. Any idea how to fix this or do you think I may have a defective device?
Which NVME drive? Is it known to be working with the Raspberry Pi 5?

It's on the compatible list at argon40 forum (post titled argon-one-v3-nvme-not-recognized ) Check Jeff Geerling's forum post nvme-ssd-boot-raspberry-pi-5 for other tips. @@TheeCorpse
I have an Argon ONE V3 M.2 NVME PCIE Case and found an error in the setup script. I had to manually edit the /boot/firmware/config.txt dtparam=pciex1_gen=3=on (incorrect data) it should be "dtparam=pciex1_gen=3".
I found that the script put the incorrect data into config.txt file. Then you should see /dev/nvme0n1: Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 2368 MB in 3.00 seconds = 789.14 MB/sec with my NVME drive.
Can you do a rtx 4070 mini itx PC build?
Literally sold out since release same with the AC adapter, idk how they can expect to stay in business when nothing is in stock that people want to buy... An option to backorder would be nice.
This is cool, but especially with availability shortages for both argon products and Pi 5s, I don't think this product makes much practical sense. You could just buy a mini pc that will simply be more performant and not limited by arm architecture. As well as having access to windows, if you so choose.
Will the Pi 5 get retropie?
I got my from vilros 👍
Possible review of ASUS PB63-B7016MH Mini PC Intel® Core™ i7 i7-13700 16 GB DDR5-SDRAM 512 GB SSD?
For those getting this, just understand that "pulling out" the black tab on the NVME botton doesn't mean pull it out. You just barely move it. On the top you could slide the ribbon in without even undoing the tab, but on the bottom it's impossible. But if you pull that tab out it will break and render the entire $50 case useless. Now I'm in search of some replacement tabs if they can even be bought because now I have two of these cases that are unusable for $0.0001 worth of parts.
The case should have had a SD Card slot extended, to allow it's usage.
Picked up one of these and it is a real pain. The scripts they instruct you to install don't actually work with LibreELEC so you have no fan or correct power button control. It looks like the community is trying to create scripts that actual work. Also having power issues as inside the Argon One case Pi OS says the official power supply is not giving 5 amps. Considering what Argon charges for this case it is inexcusable that it has so many bugs and issues.
Case, Pi 5 8GB, active cooler all sold out :-(
Hey bro . Can you do an android pc video again. A pc that run android please.❤❤
Everything included an n100 mini pc is a much better deal
? How do you figure?
Can it play the vids on youtube?
Sold out
3.5mm audio jack ???
the ventilation is pretty poor in these mine gets pretty warm
over here that case costs around 80€. i kinda want it but not sure if i can justify getting a case that costs almost the same as the pi itself.
Get the pineberry pi instead
Although the GPIO pins can be exposed, what about the other connectors? Also rather expensive, which calls into question the value of having a Pi5 if this is the extent somebody is going to go to.
It's exactly why some people buy them. To tweak, customise and personalise them.
Space for RTC?

Another the best... interesting
