Moikka Dasha! I think I’ve been one of your biggest fans on your other Russian speaking channel. I’ve seen all of your videos, and as long as you don’t film much anymore, I just started to watch from the beginning again 😆 So happy you’re back, I don’t know why, but your calm voice and your lifestyle just motivate me so much! So, my favorite type of your YT videos is VLOG definitely, but anything will do. Welcome back! ♥️

Great video! How hard was it learning Finnish and how long did it take to learn to communicate fluently? And what was your experience making friends at Aalto?

      Thank you!
I won’t sugarcoat it, learning Finnish is hard, I studied quite intensively for 3 years, and started communicating fluently after around 4 years.
Making friends with other foreign students is quite easy if you stay active yourself, participate in events and join hobby clubs. Becoming friends with Finns is more difficult as they already have their own established friend circles, but again, if you stay active and go places where you can meet people, you will make local and foreign friends ☺️

You can study in English in Finland. For engineering programs I could recommend to look at Aalto University and Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT).

I have been thinking of how people with good intentions might mislead others in a situation like planning for immigration.
By this I mean that people can forget that people are different and encourage them into something that they were not prepared for. Life itself comes with surprises. Being too optimistic seems to be a good strategy for such people who have the right mentality to overcome difficulties without becoming depressed. Many people don't handle such situations so well.
This has made me suspect that it's actually a good thing not to help people too much. Better help them to develop their skills to be able to do their own research and preparations so that they would be more likely to be successful in whatever career or path they choose to take. Helping can easily become pushing into some direction, which isn't always so good in the long run.
What kind of guidance or help did you get while researching for opportunities for yourself and making decisions?

What a great thought, thank you so much for your comment!
Sometimes I also think that in a sense I am happy that there were no blogs, vlogs etc about moving to Finland 11-12 years ago when I started the process. Immigration is a hard and very long process, I want people to know that. Also I see many people hoping that immigrating would solve all their problems, and they are very disappointed and lost when it doesn't. So for sure, I am not encouraging people to move to Finland but I would rather want to be here for those who made decision for themselves.
My mom has always encouraged and guided me during my life but when it came to moving to Finland, she gave me her full support but all decision making was on me. And I think it is important to ask people whose opinion you value for their advice, but never transfer responsibility of your decision making on anyone.

That is an interesting observation. I think it applies to many other things too aside from immigration.
