Find me on Instagram - AdamTheWooATW Nothing better than a road trip thru small towns . I suggest everyone do it from time to time . Yesterday’s video th-cam.com/video/eWNkxFnHPgU/w-d-xo.html
What town was that old Phillips 66 station in? ... The tiny one at the end of the video. There's another one similar to it in McLean Texas. I'm trying to track more of them down.
All these lonely ghost towns in the middle of beautiful prairie landscape. It's both eerie and sad. You're documenting a part of America most of us rarely see and I appreciate your efforts! Thanks, Adam! Take care & God bless you!
Hey Adam, I grew up in Lawton Oklahoma, and It was nice seeing familiar city names in your video today. I appreciate you taking these small roads instead of sticking to Rt. 66/I-40/I-44 like most people do when coming through Oklahoma. While I love Rt. 66 videos, everyone films the same things in them.
This series is very beautiful and kind of sad at the same time. I mean there's nothing doing in most of these areas and it seems like there's nobody living there anymore. But there's still a sort of beauty in old abandoned storefronts and dilapidated buildings and rusted out cars and equipment. It's like the land time forgot.
Just north of Broken Bow is Honobia and it has often been referred to as the Bigfoot capital. Supposedly tons of sightings. Hugo has a neat circus wintering grounds area as well as a circus cemetery. Funny thing about that worlds largest peanut. It was never the largest when it was made. No one knows who made or too many other details. Lot of little things where you went thru. Good to see you in Oklahoma again. Love how you wore your Lake Eufaula shirt for this one!
@@TheChoochooboy99 That's a unbelievably huge lake. My grandparents used to take me there but I can't remember where exactly. I do remember jumping off big rocks into the water.
Hugo Oklahoma cemetery is amazing. Lots of Circus performers and ornate unique headstones. Bullrider Lane Frost buried there. He was subject of movie 8 Seconds.
Hugo, OK is know as “Circus City, USA,” b/c it was the winter home of some traveling circuses. There is a Showman's Rest section of the Mount Olivet Cemetery, which has some interesting headstones of former performers.
I like your trips. Pretty cool, being from Oklahoma. I have relatives that live in Friendship, where I go dove hunting too. Altus - Pronounced like the name, "Al" -tus.
If you went to what looked like Healdton, Oklahoma, you might have gone through Ardmore, Oklahoma which is where I reside and I'll give you a little bit of a history note. Ardmore, Oklahoma is where would be Reagan assassin John W. Hinckley, Jr. was born. And also, Healdton, Oklahoma is where Golden Girl actress Rue McClanahan was born.
He was on the Eisenhower Bridge going west, so he had to have at least gone through Madill (Sand Bass Festival anyone?). If he stayed on 70 he would've passed the gas station at the entrance in Lake Murray State Park and popped out on the south side of Ardmore. From there probably Lone Grove, Healdton, Loco, Comanche, Walters, Frederick, Tipton, Altus.
Hugo was where, of all places, the two major circuses in America "wintered." Can you imagine elephants in Hugo? That's why you see so many circus-motif headstones in that beautiful cemetery.
Oklahoma ,where the wind comes sweepin' down the plains ! Those were nice old gas station signs , as well as the buildings w/ the old soda murals , and i might have been stoned, but i think i saw a snowman , a hard nut to crack, and a pig , farm-out man ,right arm dude ! Great stuff Adam ! Keep up the good ' Americana ' work my friend . I'll keep watching , won't i . . .? Thanks man , Bob.G.
I grew up in Sulphur, OK and have been through many of the towns you visited. You should definitely come back when you get the chance, there’s always stuff to explore and find in Oklahoma.
Not many people know that Sulphur once had a National Park called Platt NP. Now it's Chickasaw National Recreational Area (or something like that). My dad and I used to go to the Park to hike the trails into the mini-mountains. It was great fun. My best friend was from there too. As kids we would go to nearby Davis and "drag Main" looking to pick up girls on Saturday nights. Never landed a single one.
Am certainly enjoying your road trip Adam! The time goes by too quickly. So glad to see the small towns and country side, thank you so much for sharing this adventure.
THESE are the Daily Woo videos that we LOVE. You traveling around taking your time and showing us the REAL USA. Thank you Adam!!! Love traveling along with you. Your Florida fans!
PS... I think you seem to have quite the followers with this type of content! We love it! You should stick with traveling if you can! Your great at it!
Wow Woo! You just went through my neck of the woods there in Hugo, I graduated high school back in 1880, their in a little town north of Hugo bout 20 miles as a crow flies, called RATTAN, OK. We would go to Hugo or Antlers on the weekends and drive up and down the main street there and circle the Sonic and do it again. You weren't even a gleem in your mommas eyes then.
Thanks Adam for giving insight on rural Oklahoma. That was a papermill factory in the beginning of the video. It is located outside of Idabel, Oklahoma.
Yes!!!!! Finally! This is the Adam the Woo I missed. These cross country videos are what got me through some very personal, difficult times. Thank you, Adam!
Love all of the murals! Also loved the not so busy little area of Broken Bow! My kind of town!! When this eight state series is over.... I may cry!! You are awesome at what you do! Safe travels, Adam! 🚐
That was really enjoyable Adam, good to see the backroads of my home state, being represented. And yes I recognize some the stops in in Healdton and Commanche. Healdton is home to Shirey Coale Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball coach. That was a lot of fun.
I **love** the tiny little places like the ones shown here! So much solitude - time to relax, unwind and really appreciate nature! Time to sit back and enjoy the sound of the birds and the wind in the trees!
9:05 This Dr. Pepper mural was repainted by last year by a guy out of Dallas, TX who works in Managenent at Dr. Pepper surprisingly who is a painter in the off time.
My dad was born in Hugo. My most successful crappie fishing trip was at the base of Hugo Lake Dam! You should have gone to the Busy Bee Café in Hugo! 😋

We were down in Hugo last year, all the way from Sacramento. I'll tell you one thing fore sure people are a lot nicer. It's a much better life down south.
Omg I love this video, I'm from broken bow and I make that same trip to fort Townsend to see my family all the time 😂 my dad worked in the paper mill, and I've even attended the water melon festival several times growning up. It was just heartwarming a little to see
When I saw you were in Broken Bow, Oklahoma it reminded me of the Roy D. Mercer bit when he pranked the police chief. You can find it on TH-cam and it’s pretty amazing! 😆😂

Hi woo, Golden rule: love others... I love you, your a pro at this! And I enjoyed this Oklahoma vid. I have some relatives that live down in that area.... The Choctaw Indian Nation Labor Day fest is the big attraction. Free music, free 5k run, free carnival rides and free Indian dancing (free, free free, freee). The festival has arts and crafts too. The festival invites popular country bands and Christian bands too. You may have to make a u turn and come back to enjoy the 2019 Choctaw Indian Nations’ Labor Day Festival. It’s all free but the food and arts/crafts.
That part of OK is known as Little Dixie. The giant goober is in Durant, I think. (Pronounced DOOrant), and the "something going on there" is probably a paper mill. Also, someone mentioned Mt. Olivet cemetery in Hugo. Worth seeing. Oklahoma. Worth seeing.👍
I love the little Phillips 66 building with the pumps. When I have a house again I am going to decorate the outside with antique signs like that residence you showed. I love that look. I bet you are tired driving a state a day. When you started out I was wondering if you were going through the large part of Texas in a day. That was going to be an undertaking. Guess if you go through Texas now it is just the smaller section. That’s better.
Adam i have seen some of your videos of Oklahoma there is a town named Healdton Ok my brother and his family live there spent all their lives there But at least it was good of you to pass thru it thank you
You missed the Mt Olivett Cemetery in Hugo. It features the Showman's Rest section, which is all circus performers, including an elephant. There is also an elephant sanctuary in town.

That has been my thought too. These are beautifully shot.
