  • This Flex Joint is a direct replacement for those worn-out upper control arm bushings in your Jeep's front axle. Get rid of those old rubber bushings and swap in a long-lasting Flex Joint from Iron Rock Off Road! This joint replaces the driver side or passenger side rubber bushing on the front axle of your Jeep.
The size you need is based on the bolt diameter that your upper control arms use. Most older Jeeps like XJ, TJ, ZJ, & WJ use a 10mm bolt BUT you can upgrade to a larger bolt by drilling your control arm to match the new bolt size. JK, JL, JT use a 12mm bolt for the upper control arm at the axle. Upper control arm Flex Joints available in 10mm, 12mm, and 1/2" bolt sizes.

@@IronRockOffRoad I’m doing it as we speak… I’m having a bear of a time pressing the sleeve in…I’m using basic hand tools…

@LaunceBugbee It can be tricky getting it lined up and getting it started. You can put a little grease on the outside of the press-in sleeve to help. We only use hand tools when pressing in the sleeve. A good 1/2" ratchet gives decent leverage and control.

Oh, wow. Now that I've seen how beefy that installation tool is, the cost (and importance of having one) is to me. Makes sense now.
Thank you for this tutorial, well done and well explained/presented.

I’ve got a little over 10k on mine and they’ve already seen death wobble multiple times over 60 mph and rammed snow banks, banged ditches. I’ll let you know if they are worth it.

@txknightrider82 We do! If you are using the original 10mm bolts for your upper control arms you just need to select the 10mm option on the website. www.ironrockoffroad.com/product/upper-control-arm-flex-joint-8-bolt-10mm-cartridge.html Some of our customers choose to drill out the mounting holes on their upper control arms to a bigger size and purchase the larger 12mm or 1/2" bolt size.
