The Mk2 TK has had a bit of a cab makeover, possibly to promote some outer space related film coming soon - it's really interesting

The Express lifts in Fenwick have been modernised by thyseen krup and has horrible dew hurts
One of the lifts in Fenwick wasn't working and on the LG floor the lift was flashing something weird inside

The Otis lifts at John Lewis (4:10 in the video) used to be much better, with the circular touch sensitive buttons which lit up round the edges. Above the door used to be large light panels which would light up on the floor you were on and tell you what was on each floor. On the outside there was a panel with the numbers of each floor which would light up and tell you which floor the lift was on, and large light up signs UP and DOWN which would light up when the lift arrived to let you know which direction it was travelling. There was also a bell that would ding repeatedly when the lift arrived until the doors had closed (I believe on some floors it was a buzzer rather than a bell) I was quite disappointed when they modernised them in the early-mid 2000s.

+Robert Ian Hawdon I have never seen Otis capacitive buttons in the UK. They are ultra rare. I don't like the indicator Otis use on their mods. The only Otis like this I have seen is the square button version in Calais hospital. As well as the buttons there are not many lifts with complex relay logic left. The big lifts from the 60s/70s that had to compute how to move the lifts to serve floors efficiently using entirely relay logic and mechanical logic. These had racks and racks of relays plus an interesting mechanical device which formed part of the logic.

I think they should have kept the old inner and outer lanterns as non-functional decorations when they modernised them. It would have been a nice piece of history.

If you think Eldon Square is a maze then you should visit the Metrocentre in Gateshead, the UK's largest shopping centre in terms of retail space.

Alot has changed with all the lifts in this place
The ecodisc at 0:17 these are really knackered and new buttons are bodged
The debenhams ecodiscs at 0:52 these are abandoned
The ecodisc new look 1:33 this ones doing alright
The modded kone tms at 1:57 this ones not really mainted that well and has problems with its doors aswell as broken number 7 button
The other modded tms at 2:29
This one was modded with the buttons in 2009 but still had its tms logic but in 2015 the logic was changed to LCE but was somehow set up really well to nearly how was when it was orginal
But this lift also dosent get maintained that well
The thyseenkrupp isis mk2s 2:36 these pretty knackered and its common to see one broken
The 80s oits mod logic at 3:04 this ones doing ok except its no longer has a voice
The lift at 3:36 this one has the crappest mod this was a 70s marryat scott later moded in 90s with kone tms and later had the crappy in 2010s the lift cab itself doesn't align properly and always hits stuff in the shaft
The 80s otis mod logics at 4:08
These are pretty knackered but still staying strong, one does have drucegrove voice
This lift at 4:43 has been replaced with a ecodisc back in 2018 this ones doing ok
The m&s lifts at 5:05 these are really in poor condition these are likely to be replaced since the store is being refurbished
    The lifts in fenwicks at5:39
These been modded with lester controls the doors are knackerd but these are still staying strong
