I question if the Jays being the only Canadian team has any impact on Ohtani, though it is true that wherever the Jays play there is always a contingent of their fans in attendance, and they have big support at home. I think what might swing Ohtani to Toronto is; 1. one of the best pitching staffs in MLB 2. Best overall defence (team gold glove in 2023) 3. A temperature controlled retractable roof stadium - no inclement weather and Ohtani likes domes. 4. The best training complex in MLB in Dunedin Florida - Ohtani is a training/fitness fanatic 5. A decent offence which under-performed last year and only lacks a big power bat in the middle of the lineup...hmmm where can they find one of those? 6. He can live right at Rogers Center in the hotel if he wants - no in-town travel time. Other players have done this. He can probably afford it. 7. Rogers has money to pay him and still keep a competitive team around him.
