We're less than a month away from our spring summit, Career Day at TFD! No matter where you are in your career journey, this all-day conference is for you. Hope you can join us: bit.ly/CareerDayTFD!
Severely disappointed with this episode tbh, it seems like Chelsea did absolutely 0 research on Cristine, her personal brand, or her actual brand, or what she actually does on her channel. I was especially mad that she kept trying to point it back to beauty youtube and talked about drama in the beauty community when it is VERY clear if you have watched maybe an hour of simply naillogical that Cristine is basically not involved with them at all.
I definitely thought Chelsea would have more to say about higher education since she believes it to be a waste of money while Cristine is one of the biggest education advocates on TH-cam.
@@lalaurlalala I don't think so. Outside of the US, the difference between University and College is clear. Here in the states, they're practically interchangeable words, but most people use the word college for everything from undergrad to PhD work, though sometimes they'll specify "grad school" for degrees beyond a bachelors. edit: also to clarify, Chelsea's position on college being a waste of money is based on the cost of education in the US specifically, which is absolutely astronomical compared to everywhere else in the world.
@@snowballeffect7812 I think you can use *university* or *college* for the *college* years but not the word *college* for any kind of university or degree. I'd never refer to my grad school time as *college*. Something like the phrase "in college", I'd only use for the time when I did my BA degree. Anything after that, I'd call grad school.
Now I’m no journalist .... but I am pretty sure before an interview that the interviewer is supposed to do at least a little bit of research about the interviewee. Chelsea seemed very out of touch and kept falling back on the beauty guru questions despite Christine being very clear that she does not want to be included in that group.
It was so rude the way the host cut her off to explain college/university and said she was being “fancy.” No, the terms literally mean different things in Canada. Cristine was trying to explain, as they have on her podcast, that college is more like a trade school is here, and university is what we think of as traditional college in the US. But she literally talked over her and was like no you’re wrong it’s the same here too. It’s not. Poor cristine was just like oh really ok.
I'm disappointed with the approach here. It felt as though Chelsea had no real interest in Christine or her career and was forcing conversation. Christine is SMART, she's a businesswoman, she advocates for education, financial independence, and strategic, ethical spending practices. There was a chance to have a great conversation here. The lack of research and interest really let everyone who was DYING for this collab down. I love Chelsea and all the other podcasts are great, it's just this one that so cringe. I kept getting the feeling Chelsea was patronizing and didn't respect Christine as an entrepreneur
@@guntherstewart8941 I do have high expectation of both Chelsea and Cristine because they have trained me to expect excellence with their consistantly exceptional content. I am not asking for everything, I'm asking for something....ANYTHNG. Maybe a google search prior to the interview. Chelsea is an engaging and methodical professional- this doesnt meet the standard of her body of work. Thats all.
Honestly, I thought it was ok until I read your comment. As someone who doesn't really follow Cristine much, I didn't know any of the things you mentioned about her. On the other hand, though, she does have to keep the episode to one hour and I do appreciate what we got, as well.
The lightning round of questions was my fav part, especially the last question. I watch simplypodlogical so I already knew about all the things Cristine shared in the first half of the video, but I still enjoyed it. I’m surprised Chelsea didn’t know Cristine owned Holo Taco and that it was a full business. I felt it was a missed opportunity to talk more about Cristine as a businessowner of 2 businesses (holo taco and her TH-cam channel) rather than as a beauty TH-camr.
Agreed, I was surprised that Chelsea hadn't thought to look into that (given Cristine is so upfront about the effort she's put into Holo Taco) and from the footage I think Cristine was pretty surprised as well.
Especially with the recent video she released on her second channel about the extensive process she goes through to shoot the photos and videos for the advertising campaigns for Holo Taco _herself_
I mean Christine spent a lot of time, money and effort getting a Masters degree to get the job she has. It would be a shameful waste to quit for the fleeting success that is TH-cam.
As a long time fan of Cristine and her content I do not understand this interview at all. I expected this to be an interview about Cristine's professional life and talk about topics like starting her own business, managing her TH-cam channel and her unique take on financial advice for women, but this host just took everything in a completely random (and sometimes disrespectful, in my eyes) direction. Like...why are you asking about Cristine being child-free? What does that have to do with finances? And I know it was a "viewer question", but any long time viewer of Cristine would know the answer to that. And the fact that she instantly tried to establish that she had nothing to do with the beauty community should've been clear enough that the question was abandoned. I'm glad to read so many other comments here feeling the same way. Basically this podcast seemed like an excuse for the host to talk about herself and to occasionally take a weird, unprovoked jab at Cristine. Considering she never does interviews, I'm really upset that this is how this went for her. Edit: OH MY GOD! The part where the host ignored Cristine MULTIPLE TIMES about Holo Taco being her OWN brand was absolutely infuriating. Why are you basically trying to insist that she was just licensing out her brand? Did you do ANY research on her at all before having her on? Jesus.
It always shocks me to think I worked with her when she was 16 and I taught her how to sell makeup in Toronto. Always had her nails done in a cool way! So, amazed by Christine!!! Congrats to her!!!
Good interview, but I wish you spent more time researching Christine and her content. It was a bit obvious when the beauty community questions came up that you aren’t familiar with her work.
@@amandeez5782 In most cases, I would tend to agree. But I think this was more of a discussion than an interview. Cristine says she doesn't consider herself a beauty influencer but it sounds like that's what she is while she is trying to branch out into other spheres. (I should note, I don't know who she is but she seems lovely).
Agreed. Cristine hasn't done makeup or participated in that for a long time because of allergies. There is very little overlap between beauty influencers and nail swatchers/artists. The two communities are so different.
Is it just me or is Chelsea becoming more condescending by the day? I also sense a lot of privilege in some of her videos. No hate here, have always loved TFD's content on all plaftorms, but off late as a woman of color, hearing her talk down to so many people is not really going down well with me.
Two business-owning boss babes talking; it was such a good opportunity for amazing content.. instead, we got..lip fillers and babies? I'm sorry but Chelsea, you literally said, "I didn't know his name was Ben". How? How with any knowledge/research, did you not know BEEEYNNN? It's her schtick She says it in every video... How did you not know Holo Taco was a stand-alone business that she owns? Chelsea, I love ya girl but defending yourself in the comments saying you do know Cristine's content... Idk. Please reflect on this comment section, take the feedback with grace. Cristine loves finance and this could have been so very good. My only hope would be for you to be a guest on HER podcast, where you could actually chat finance with her.
Feel bad that Cristine got out of her comfort zone for this, and this interview is insulting. I hope this doesn't put Cristine off for future collaborations in the financial space.
I have to agree with other comments that this was a strange and not well researched interview. Cristine is not even a beauty youtuber and has made it very clear she does not identify with that in her videos and verbally here as well. So many more meaningful topics could be covered than lip filler and vapid people in LA. Those things are completely irrelevant to her but she answered gracefully anyways.
I love simplynailogical. I’ve watched basically any content that she is in on TH-cam but I had to stop watching this interview after a handful of minutes. It just felt cringe and like the interviewer didn’t do any research before hand. Cristine is such a good role model. There were so many topics that could’ve been delved into but it just seemed like surface level and like the interviewer wanted gossip about the beauty space when that is not what Cristine is about at all.
I gasped when I saw this notification. You two are probably some of the most well adjusted adults on youtube and I can't wait to hear your conversation.
@@markacadey3313 Means they are mature, responsible and very pragmatic. And that they have figured out adulting (as best as a person can anyway) and so their opinions are actually worthwhile to hear specially compared with other youtubers that despite being adults have very little interesting things to say.
I normally don’t watch this channel, but it was recommended to me. Tbh, I’m underwhelmed by the tone of this interview. How does being in any space (whether beauty, sports, self-care, etc) prevent you from being business or money savvy? The tone of this interview was very condescending. We are all in different spaces in terms of finances, and all have different hobbies and interests. We are in 2021 and should be better than this.
I feel like TFD didn’t really do their research and they don’t really know anything about Cristine. I feel like Chelsea kind of talked down to Cristine...
I wish she would've asked more about her business and her multiple youtube channels Edit: I'm cringing at the oh you actually own the nail polish brand part. The good questions that are money oriented are towards the end.
Chelsey seemed threatened by Christine's awesomeness. I enjoy both creators, but Chelsea let me down on this interview, she was constantly trying to undermine Christine, and she ended up looking like an insecure-petty person.
I have to agree with the other comments. It’s as if this interviewer didn’t do any research on Cristine, and thought she found someone who’s in the beauty drama community to get the inside scoop on. Cristine said a couple times in this video that she started her channel simply to share her creative passion. Her channel message has never been about beautifying yourself, its always been about having fun with nail art.
Cristine, please hold a workshop on time management, because how? Edit: I'm so glad that you mentioned immigration and health care as being reasons to get married, because personally, I regard them as "better" reasons to get married than just being love.
I has this saved in my watched later list and now when i finally decide to watch, its so disappointing. The interviewer just seems very condescending and i don't see the woman empowerment thing that other comments say this channel is about. I get why cristine don't do interviews, its precisely due to these kinds of situations and poor knowledge/understanding from the interviewers part
While I respect the idea of this podcast, some of the statements you made in this interview sat poorly with me. Starting off with 'What could I possibly talking about with a beauty youtuber, how expensive nails are?' seems like an extremely misogynistic statement. As if women who care about their appearance or find hobbies with makeup cannot possibly understand financial literacy. And your opening joke about your nails not being chipped, assuming that is at all important to Christine the 'beauty youtuber' also patronizes the conversation right away. You seem to grasp for the same financially literate respect Christine has for her choices by comparing them to your own. Christine working a 9-5 job is not the same as you working 9-5 on TH-cam. But your word choices seem to be inflating your own self-importance. You may be gaining a lot of financial literacy now, but you speak as though you know it all and you're here to help everyone else figure it out too. I don't understand this approach because your own explanation of your 'net worth' alone shows that your financial literacy is derived mainly from this one source of income. I'm personally bothered by your tone, which is obviously subjective so take this opinion as you will, but as an employee of an entertainment business with your main income stemming from one source, I don't think your conversations surrounding financial literacy should be from a place of wisdom sharing. Another thing, as an interviewer, you are there to interview your guest. I'm here to listen to Christine speak on her financial literacy. But when Christine shares something about her past experience, rather than engaging with her and continuing to talk about the story or experience, you immediately shift the conversation back to you and your experience and what you do. You seem to be seeking a lot of validation for your work and it's quite annoying. Of course you are incredibly hard working, you have a company with several employees. But you can share that on your own time and in your own video. If someone is here to learn from the wisdom for Chelsea, they will watch you talk about it, but people clicked for Christine's financial opinion. I watch Christine's podcast, and although they discuss money, business, and finances, I was super interested in hearing Christine talk about her life and why she's made the choices she's made, but your constant need to slip your own accomplishments in any chance you get is really annoying. **For example -- Christine talked about negotiating for a raise for the first time and you some how transitioned that conversation to TFD not having rate cards?** What a self involved leap of topics simply over the word "negotiation". There's no way this is it, but the interview feels like you believe Christine is here for YOUR advice. You're talking to Christine and the audience as though your teaching her and her viewers how to operate a business. Beauty community drama Chelsea? Really? Your podcast is about mature content and you believe because Christine paints her nails, that she's at all interested or has an opinion the drama? To me, this says a lot about how little you know Christine. You have her on the podcast as clickbait. Chelsea my god... you asked Christine "What do you think about the beauty community? Do you think it's toxic?" Christine answers your question with her opinion, which no offense, is objectively more informed than yours as someone who is technically part of that space, and as soon as she finishes answering your question, you go into speaking about your answer TO YOUR OWN QUESTION! You have good information to offer Chelsea, but not everything you think in your brain 1. needs to be said out loud OR and more importantly 2. IS CORRECT. Just because you have a successful business does not mean you know everything about business. You have worked hard to be where you are and to know the things you know, but you're ignoring a lot of the help you received along the way to put yourself in a better light, and I think that's being more dishonest than anything. Your brand was started with another company. You were given stable capital and time to invest back into your business, that's a HUGE advantage. It doesn't mean you didn't work hard and earn where you are now, but some of your advice is catered to business that have VERY LUCKILY fallen in the same path as yours, but you're framing it as oversimplified business knowledge and generalized financial literacy and wealth management. Not everyone starting a youtube channel will have access to Hank Green's money/influence to start off. Your business didn't succeed because you didn't have a 'rate card' or you invested any profits back into the company. Those may have helped, but a large part of your success was off of the back of someone else. Humble yourself down. "The gaming community is a bunch of dudes with t-shirts" Again, I'm just going to leave this statement for you to understand on your own. You asked Christine about her experience in the beauty space and if that makes her feel pressure, she talked about her first time visiting LA as a culture shock, and you start talking about YOUR experience in LA. You didn't even ask to clarify what type of culture shock she was talking about? People, traffic, population, size? You were just waiting for your turn to speak about yourself. "Your face is built to support the features you have" Ok it's obvious you have a personal issue with people caring about their appearance. You have a personal issue with people taking time to make sure they like the way they look. You have a personal issue with people changing their physical attributes or caring about it. This doesn't affect your life, whatsoever. Whether someone chooses to get lip fillers is up to them. Only affects them. And makes no impact on your life. Just because YOU think your face is built to support your features doesn't make that the truth. It's your opinion, and it's a pretty shitty one too. Imagine women who have altered their appearance watching this. Some women do that because they're unhappy about a feature on their body. They change it to make themselves feel better, not to make you feel any type of way. So why have an opinion on it? And why have a strong enough opinion on it that you need to share it MULTIPLE times in a podcast? When I hear judgments like this, I immediately assume you are the one dealing with your own insecurities. You're upset that people have a certain beauty standard and you're blaming women for that. "You only follow women over 50 because we have a youth obsessed media" Virtue signal queen. Who is consuming the media? Youth. Who do youth relate to more? Someone your own age. Again, these oversimplifications because of your all encompassing wisdom of the world is obnoxious. You have a valid perspective, but it's just one of billions. Also "Following regular influencers made you feel ugly". Ok again, your own insecurities, that I'm sorry you suffer with, but they are your own issue to deal with. But then admitting that you feel better following older influencers is part of the toxic 'youth obsessed' culture. You're equating youth with beauty and it triggers your insecurity. The second half of this interview is much more the type of interview I was expecting. Much more focused on Christine and her experience and very little interjections from your own experience. It's clear I'm not a fan of yours personally, but you can separate your personality from your work. I'm not a fan of many podcast hosts but I enjoy watching their podcasts because they interview guests well. I could not sit through this interview without noticing how conceded you come across. I understand the urge of relatability by sharing similar experiences, and while that may work sometimes in conversations, although it can also be annoying then too, it definitely doesn't work in a podcast setting. At least not in a podcast where you are attempting at producing content revolved around Financial Literacy and not The Chelsea Life Experience show. I don't think Christine took offense to this, but to not even have looked into Holo Taco and whether or not it's Christine's own brand or a licensing deal? I'm not sure what kind of research you did, if Christine's personal brand wasn't part of it? If it's not with rude intention, it's at the very least unprofessional.
THANK YOU for saying this!!! "Humble yourself down", something I have myself been wanting to tell Chelsea for sooooo long! Looks like the success has gotten into her head. Off late, her extreme entitlement and white privilege are started to show and YIKES!
Before hearing the podcast, I actually expected they would be diving in more on time management and how Christime juggles all of her responsibilities. Instead, we end ip with meh
The focus here should've been on Christine. Isn't that the point of having guests? Normally thoroughly enjoy TFD and absolutely love Christine. This time, a bit disappointed to not have heard MORE from Christine.
@@markacadey3313 sorry I don’t even get the term how is it offensive? would you mind explaining what it means I’ve never in my life heard someone say that lolol
@@BlackandgiftedThe phrase fetishizes asian women. The acting of "opening a kimono" has a sexual connotation along with giving it an orientalist angle. I've definitely heard it used in business meetings, it's always struck me as obviously inappropriate and yet...
Hey thanks Cristine for talking about how you organized during your masters. I'm writing my thesis right now (some of my lab work was delayed because of the plague so its been a never ending fight to stay motivated with the starting and stopping, but since I'm an international student I have a Damocles sword hanging over my head with my permit expiration coming). Just wanted to say I appreciate the advice about organization and you talking about how important that moment was for you. Here's hoping my submission will go as well. DFTBA, Allyssa
This interview is very uncomfortable and it seems like the host has no clue what Christine actually does for a living. She has a nearly mocking tone and comes off as “better than” which I don’t appreciate. Christine didn’t deserve these questions. The host should do more research on her guests. This video came up in my recommended feed and I don’t have the desire to see any others.
Smart superwomen powers unite Btw, beauty content can be very philosophical. Apart from keeping her 9 to 5 in criminal statistics, Cristine supports uni students (and talks a lot about her own uni experience), has a podcast, and has become an entrepreneur out of her passion for holo nailpolish.
@@kattihatt The role of (wo)men in society, how one wants to be perceived, makeup as a means of expression ... it is interesting how "beauty" content is sometimes downplayed. Really like that Chelsea makes room in her podcast for this.
I used to watch TFD all the time, but stopped about a year-ish ago because it started feeling more and more snobby and elitist. I have never stopped watching Simply Nailogical. Cristine is awesome, funny, and just down to earth. I even own most of the Holo Taco nail products, not because I like glitter that much, but because I like her, her channel, and what she was able to build. It's my one big financial splurge. When I saw this video I was like ok, for Cristine, I can give TFD another try. NOPE! This was so cringy and it wasn't your guest... I'll keep watching Simply and keep not watching TFD.
Wow. I was wondering why i hadn’t heard about this when it came out but after listening to it... I understood after the second time the host glossed over Cristine’s FREAKING BUSINESS that she literally plays a huge role in running. No surprise Cristine doesn’t do more interviews. Girl is a triple threat in all things business and the host talked about beauty guru drama. Just... No.
I just want to say, Cristine's time management advice is super helpful! I've heard similar advices but she explained it so well. I was gonna skip this episode because of the comments, but it was really enjoyable and glad I didn't skip it. One of my favorite episodes and guests.
I’d be interested to hear Louise Pentland on the podcast. She’s been on TH-cam for a long time and is also fairly open about money and how she deals with it. I know she also has a large team and a bit of insight into a lot of different aspects of content creation as well as other sources of income. It might be interesting to hear how being a mother to young children and living in the UK affects her perspective on finances, etc.
you're very interesting woman but............the beginning where you described reasoning of not wanting to get Cristine on podcast was sounding a little bit entitled :)
Oh my god. How did I not see this video before?? ETA: An interviewer should be well-informed about who they're interviewing. This could have been so good. Simplypodlogical has much better discussions of lifestyle and finances.
Maybe it's because I can't imagine genuinely liking a job, but the thought having 2-3 profitable businesses and still wanting to spend 40+ hours a week at a desk job (granted, a government job, a lot of benefits associated with that) is mind-blowing. Living the dream and working a regular job just because.
@@rowanwax I'm pretty sure Canada has a 40 hour work week too, that's the standard for full time almost everywhere. However I (as a European) have noticed that a lot of Americans seem to work more than full time - many people have more than one job, or work overtime for extra income. When you live in a place with decent wages, which I'm guessing Canada has, you can work your 40h/week and feel like it's not excessive. After all, it does ultimately come down to more free time than work. Assuming people are awake 16h/day and work 8h/ day (which is the assumption the 8h work day is based on), plus let's say an extra hour for lunch and another hour for travelling to and from work, that would add up to 10h/day lost and 6h/day that are your own. That makes 50h/week lost and in the workweek you've got 30h free - but then you also have the weekend with 2*16h completely to yourself, making it a total of 32+30=62 hours per week that are your own, compared to the 50 hours you lose for work including travel and lunch (which are 10 semi-free hours per week).
I wish I could work 33 hours a week. I live in Vancouver Canada and every job I've had that is full time is 40 hours a week. Also yes I was paid for only 37.5 hours a week before, at a horrible contracting company through a tech company. There isn't very good job security here either along with the crazy living expenses :(. I'm still in the tech industry and a lot of jobs are contracted or set to temporary full time, even though you work full time for these companies and devote your whole week to the job. As you can tell by the tone of my comment, I'm trying to get out of the 9 to 5 life aha.
Hands down one of the realest videos I've watched from content creators being super open and honest about the business side of it and behind the scenes. Super interesting to listen to. I hadn't heard of Cristine prior to this but now I'm going to check her out!
Watching this was super uncomfortable. How did someone with a platform in finances not bother to research that her guest owns a whole business? Also how did she as woman feel okay only asking her questions about beauty and not having children for a majority of the interview?
Cristine is the best person on TH-cam, so is Ben. Can you do the Sorry Girls next, I think they were the first who hired so many people to work on their channel and made it a company.
My biggest issue with fillers etc. is that while it is arguably a freedom *now*, I fear it will become just another established beauty regiment similar to e.g. shaving your legs where if you don't do it, you'll be shamed.
This interview was incredible and honestly brought so much joy. I love both Chelsea and Cristine and having you two chat together was just a lot of fun. I loved this. Thank you Cristine for stepping out of your comfort zone to do this interview because, as an audience member, it was 1000000% worth it.
Regarding the not getting married stuff, I came from an interesting perspective because I have a household with both parents together who just never got married, yet our family life was exactly the same as everyone else. It really is just a personal choice.
Same! My parents are not married but have been together since they were 16 and still going strong. In my country there isn't really any benefit to marriage except inheritance, and my parents both agree that if one of them dies they want the inheritance to go to me and my brother anyway, so that doesn't bother them. EDIT: Just so there's no misunderstanding, there was no teen pregnancy involved that made them stay together - they had their first child (me) at 26
I usually love TFD but this almost seemed like she had no interest or even dont basic research on Cristine. And this may be the most pragmatic youtuber to interview too
Love TFD and this show, but really disappointed in this interview. Chelsea was super dismissive and came across as though she was talking down and over Cristine. It felt like Cristine was constantly having to "prove her self" to Chelsea.
Oh wow - this is terrible and not because of Cristine. This was too much about Chelsea. I feel like this was framed as an interview when it was more like a conversation and even then, it was a conversation that was Chelsea heavy. Cristine - Please don't worry. Hometown girl here sees you. This wasn't a you problem. This was totally on the host.
Can you interview Hannah Louise Poston? - her whole channel was inspired by realising she had overspent on makeup/beauty and documenting her "no buy" year to address that.
I've never actually watched the nailogical channel (I think maybe I had an ex partner who did?) But Christine seems so cool and down to earth! Enjoying this so far!
you should considering having Jackie Aina on! she is one of my all-time favorite beauty youtubers. not only are her skills and techniques are some of the best (in my opinion), she speaks about the inequities in the beauty industry for people of color, and in social media... and flourishes beyond all that!
Agreed! I think of her whenever I see a display of foundation and there are 30 or 40 shades across the range of possible skin tones from light to dark, instead of just six or seven lighter shades and two darker shades.
Grew up in LA, and we didn't have pressure to be pretty, people just enjoyed being creative about appearance. I feel that creativity leads to what others see as pretty ppl.
THIS IS THE BEST MONDAY PRESENT EEEEVVVVEEERRR!!!!! Shout out for the 1% of men who listen regularly to these two intelligent and informative women!!!!
Wow another great guest! But I'm not going to lie, I expected less "beauty community talk" and more business/ finance talk. That being said, I still really enjoyed this video!
I love seeing all these young female content creators that I admire and follow on TFD. Proud of all of you guys! ...in a weird para-social relationship way.
She straight up abuses her super young audience into buying the merch/nail polish/other crap she sells. These are people often earning minimum wage in their part time jobs or they have no money at all. I see nothing decent about this.
"just sign up for youtube premium!" was the final straw for me. so ignorant, classist and entitled. i came here to listen to cristine and most of the talk was this random lady talking about herself and her company, being on a high horse "what could a nail person contribute to the type of talks we have" and it just pisses me off. for someone marketing herself as a feminist she sounds like someone with a lot of internalized misogyny and a huge ego. you can also see how uncomfortable cristine gets when she asks her questions about not getting married and not having kids so it seems to me it wasn't what she was signing up for
You two have a taught me so much about what it means to be a confident working woman in the modern age. Thanks so much for this conversation and for your transparency.
No idea who the lady is but starting off the video by saying “what the hell am I going to talk to about this person bc she does nails” made me cringe 😬 invite some to talk to you and go into it as if you have something to learn geeze
I think that was her point...she had a first reaction, did some research and then realized "no wait, there is something to learn." It's a good lesson for everyone to learn because it can be hard to keep an open mind in spite of first reactions. But if you don't you might miss a great opportunity. I appreciate that she was honest about that.
I don't why everyone is "disappointed "😮. As someone who doesn't know a guest- letting the person to introduce herself and explain some basic details about her personality helped me a lot to understand the context of the dialog and the story in total. Thanks for the conversation!) ❤
I would have liked to see both cristine and chelsea on the screen rather than just the one talking at that moment. Even in regular sit down interviews they will occasionally pan to the other person so see reactions, and with Cristine's podcast you see both ben and Cristine on the screen, or it'll flip to the other person
For anyone interested, in Ontario (where Christine lives), you CAN look up public employees salaries by name if they make more than $100,000 CAN per year. Christine is not on that list, which means her day job pays less than that.
This is my 3rd comment and I’m only halfway through, but I’m so upset at how little this woman cared to look in to Christine. Telling her she invites comments about her face because of “all the videos doing her makeup” ? SimplyNAILogical girl. Come on.

Maybe you just had high expectations or are too invested in Cristine. Literally, it's one podcast Chelsea can't put everything in it
@@guntherstewart8941 I do have high expectation of both Chelsea and Cristine because they have trained me to expect excellence with their consistantly exceptional content.

Simply nailogical x The Financial Diet
RIGHT?!?
Jesus.
chelsea the guests on this season of the podcast are ON POINT
*honestly* i'm dying inside
It always shocks me to think I worked with her when she was 16 and I taught her how to sell makeup in Toronto. Always had her nails done in a cool way! So, amazed by Christine!!! Congrats to her!!!
Good interview, but I wish you spent more time researching Christine and her content. It was a bit obvious when the beauty community questions came up that you aren’t familiar with her work.
Cristine*
She did say she wasn't familiar with Cristine at the beginning of the video.
Yeah, but that’s the sign of a bad interview most times
I don’t understand her defense that she does know her content, when in the beginning she very clearly says she didn’t know her 🙄
Feel bad that Cristine got out of her comfort zone for this, and this interview is insulting. I hope this doesn't put Cristine off for future collaborations in the financial space.
Thank you... you saved me an hour of my life. I am hoping for some awesome insight and experience as well... On to the next video :(
I have to agree with other comments that this was a strange and not well researched interview.
So did I, lol
Well adjusted adults 🤣 what does that even mean?
I hear you

I wish she would've asked more about her business and her multiple youtube channels
Edit: I'm cringing at the oh you actually own the nail polish brand part.
Edit: I'm so glad that you mentioned immigration and health care as being reasons to get married, because personally, I regard them as "better" reasons to get married than just being love.
marrying for romance is a pretty new concept, historically speaking
What always struck me about Christine is that she seems happier than your typical youtuber of a similar size. She has her priorities in order.
30 min. In and she doesn't even ask her questions about her business. The comments are right disappointing interview.

How is it philosophical?

It might be interesting to hear how being a mother to young children and living in the UK affects her perspective on finances, etc.

you're very interesting woman but............the beginning where you described reasoning of not wanting to get Cristine on podcast was sounding a little bit entitled :)

Canada has a shorter work week than the USA. I think it’s around 33 hours. Still, I agree it’s a lot of work.
When I tell you I came running... 😂

Philip DeFranco created a whole company a longgg time ago. It’s not really a new concept on TH-cam.
I could listen to Cristine’s view on anything all day. She’s so well spoken!
My biggest issue with fillers etc. is that while it is arguably a freedom *now*, I fear it will become just another established beauty regiment similar to e.g. shaving your legs where if you don't do it, you'll be shamed.
This seriously felt like a job interview and not in a good way lmao i love Christine and i will stick to the simplypodlogical podcast 😂
And this may be the most pragmatic youtuber to interview too
Having a day job while focusing on your side passion is the safest way to grow your business but it’s not always the fastest trick

Love it!!
Nobody tell Menchie and Zyler that their mom thinks they’re not her children!
"just sign up for youtube premium!" was the final straw for me. so ignorant, classist and entitled. i came here to listen to cristine and most of the talk was this random lady talking about herself and her company, being on a high horse "what could a nail person contribute to the type of talks we have" and it just pisses me off. for someone marketing herself as a feminist she sounds like someone with a lot of internalized misogyny and a huge ego. you can also see how uncomfortable cristine gets when she asks her questions about not getting married and not having kids so it seems to me it wasn't what she was signing up for
Chelsea said it best, christine is so aspirational in the best way possible. Love these two women
Ya it was a fun video ❤️

You two have a taught me so much about what it means to be a confident working woman in the modern age. Thanks so much for this conversation and for your transparency.

This is awesome! Thank you both! I think my fave is Cristine placing an appropriate amount of importance on her education.

This was a collab I didn't know I wanted but I'm happy exists!
I don't why everyone is "disappointed "😮. As someone who doesn't know a guest- letting the person to introduce herself and explain some basic details about her personality helped me a lot to understand the context of the dialog and the story in total. Thanks for the conversation!) ❤
The speed of which that I clicked and liked this video 💨💨💨
Already know it's gonna be iconic
Omg this is such a perfect episode two of my favorite creators !
Such a wonderful surprise!
MY FAVORITE TWO PODCASTS COMBINED!
I would have liked to see both cristine and chelsea on the screen rather than just the one talking at that moment. Even in regular sit down interviews they will occasionally pan to the other person so see reactions, and with Cristine's podcast you see both ben and Cristine on the screen, or it'll flip to the other person
Questions / topics were weird... Simply is not a regular "beauty" youtuber
I've always been pretty careful in who I follow who i give my attention to and these two creators have both stuck around in my media consumption.
For anyone interested, in Ontario (where Christine lives), you CAN look up public employees salaries by name if they make more than $100,000 CAN per year. Christine is not on that list, which means her day job pays less than that.
Yup they talked about it on PodLogical that their combined salary was enough for a “Comfortable” middle class lifestyle but far from rich.
The collab I’ve been waiting for !!! Love it
Thank you for making this Collab! 💕
This made my day! 💖
I never clicked on a Notification so fast. 😂
Wow i love Christine's suggestion of talking to nail artist friends, i already love this talk
Not familiar with Christine's work, but she is really smart! What a thoughtful, helpful interview :)
two of my favorite channels
I really loved her content in the early days my younger sister introduced her to me and hope she continues to succeed.
Love Christine! She is a responsible influencer.
Ya she’s great 😊

This is my 3rd comment and I’m only halfway through, but I’m so upset at how little this woman cared to look in to Christine. Telling her she invites comments about her face because of “all the videos doing her makeup” ? SimplyNAILogical girl. Come on.
Thanks for this Video. I didn't know who she was but now I love her!!! Always great content.
Yeeeeees!!! Thank you both! Just heard it, the first of many! Maybe a couple of hundred times
