Cus it sounds like they put autotune on this one. the demo is pretty unfinished the beat and the vocals and the tone of the song is darker overall but you definetly recognize that its MJ. They also changed/censored the lyrics. they cut out the "because she's only 15" line. the original meaning of this song was an actual teenage girl trying anything to achieve her dreams of becoming a hollywood star, even being groomed into sleeping with creepy powerful men who promise her fame and riches in return.

The fact that some of the songs in this album that got me back into MJ music again a bit after the album was released, during a flight in a plane, weren’t even sung by him was one of the most backstabbing things I’ve experienced from an album 😭
It was made right after MJ passed, he had no involvement in making it and therefore doesn't have his signature style. And that's not even getting into how the producers used fake vocals on a couple of songs that MJ never sung and tried to pass it off as his. This album deserved to be criticized.

I don’t consider this or Xscape “Michael Jackson albums” They are compilations of unreleased material (plus some fake material) that were finished by producers, compiled by the estate I think Xscape is definitely stronger. The song choices and the fact that they also included the original versions You gotta admire the track themselves for what they are.
And the original versions for "Hollywood Tonight" and "The Way You Love Me" are way better, in my opinion. Also, in early January, "Best Of Joy" had a third verse that was cut from the song due to an alleged copyright claim. If you look it up on YT, or go to my channel, you can hear the original uncut song.
Simple: most of the album remixes took the MJ Magic out of the songs. There was no love in releasing a bunch of random tracks, and the Cascio tracks helped none of it.

iirc behind the mask on this album has different vocals from the thriller 40 version, since that version is just him singing over the original ymo version. the production for that was completely redone for the michael album version and the vocals were apparently taken from a quincy jones studio demo. hollywood's lead vocals have a ton of effects for some reason, iirc they're the same vocals from the original invincible era demo. the acapella for breaking news somehow leaked out years ago and you can really hear that it's not michael lmao

I thought people regarded "Invincible" as MJ's worst album? "Michael" is pretty mid tho. Hollywood Tonight, Behind The Mask, Another Day, Best Of Joy, The Way You Love Me, and Hold My Hand are good songs, but I wouldn't rank them in the S-tier of MJ songs. Not talking about the other 3 songs since those ones aren't even MJ.
Invincible is regarded as MJs worse albums because it didn’t sell that well initially back in 2001. Aside from “butterflies” and “you rock my world” most people kinda forgot about it but last year it resurfaced because of “heaven can wait” and people have it a second chance, now it’s considered one of MJs better albums and rightfully so.
To be fair to Breaking News if didn't have lyrics in the 3rd person, Britney Spears' legal team (her dad due to the conservativeship) would have gone after MJ's estate. Breaking News is pretty much Piece of Me from Britney's Blackout.

It was an understanding off album since Hollywood tonight was definitely sung by a different person besides Michael the guy even made videos about the situation it was an album rushed out by Sony to make a quick buck and don't sleep on hold my hand with akon bro.
We're literally the opposite here, I only enjoyed the upbeat/busy songs from the album. Hollywood Tonight, Monster, (I Can't Make It) Another Day, Behind the Mask, and Breaking News were straight BANGERS to me. I'm a huge MJ fan, all the albums on repeat (or just the upbeat songs at least), had his choreography practiced when I was younger, all that jazz. Michael It’s the worst MJ album because number one: the vocals in the unreleased songs were heavily and badly edited and auto-tuned to make him sound modern for this project for example listen to the album version of Hollywood Tonight and then listen to the demo and Throwback Mix to see how badly they edited his vocals on the album version and number two: those three fake songs: Monster, Keep Ya Head Up, Breaking News which weren’t sung by him at all. They were sung by an impersonator called Jason Malachi. It not a bad album, but it’s still disrespectful to MJ and was nothing but a huge cash grab for Sony. Xscape was also released after his death but it was actually a pretty good album. The original versions are better obviously but the remixes were good too.

Xscape is just so much better and 100% Michael. At least it had the original versions and the reworded versions that were a great combination. The 'Michael' album was a mixed bag of not the best tracks and the record company obviously knew the fans would buy it anyway and kept the better tracks for the Xscape album.

There were rumors almost as soon as the Michael album came out that some tracks, BREAKING NEWS, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND MONSTER, WERE SONG BY AN IMPERSONATOR JASON MALACHI. settled out of court AND those 3 tracks on the Michael album have been scrubbed from it entirely.

I thought people regarded "Invincible" as MJ's worst album? "Michael" is pretty mid tho. Hollywood Tonight, Behind The Mask, Another Day, Best Of Joy, The Way You Love Me, and Hold My Hand are good songs, but I wouldn't rank them in the S-tier of MJ songs. Not talking about the other 3 songs since those ones aren't even MJ.

Invincible is regarded as MJs worse albums because it didn’t sell that well initially back in 2001. Aside from “butterflies” and “you rock my world” most people kinda forgot about it but last year it resurfaced because of “heaven can wait” and people have it a second chance, now it’s considered one of MJs better albums and rightfully so.
He had nothing to do with the album… money grab 🤷🏽♂️… “Hollywood” track is pretty good I know it’s not his voice but … 😅

But, some of the fans (in fact, a lot of them) thought 3 of them are not performed by Michael Jackson himself due to the voice and singing techniques. And almost 10 years later, (I believe last year Fall) the Estate (or Sony Records, whoever) deleted the controversial 3 songs, right before releasing the 40th anniversary edition of THRILLER album.
The 3 songs are called "Breaking News", "Monster (featuring 50 Cent)", and "Keep Your Head Up". And the reason why they are called "Cascio Tracks" is because it has been told that they were recorded in Cascio Family's studio. And I don't remember when, but the songs were uploaded on auction as a CD called "Bible" (stylized as "BiblE") later. I don't remember if it was before or after MJ's death, but they are all on TH-cam. You can just type "Michael Jackson Cascio Tracks", and you will see 12 songs.

We're literally the opposite here, I only enjoyed the upbeat/busy songs from the album. Hollywood Tonight, Monster, (I Can't Make It) Another Day, Behind the Mask, and Breaking News were straight BANGERS to me.
I'm a huge MJ fan, all the albums on repeat (or just the upbeat songs at least), had his choreography practiced when I was younger, all that jazz. I do have to say your take is a bit trash in this video...

Michael It’s the worst MJ album because number one: the vocals in the unreleased songs were heavily and badly edited and auto-tuned to make him sound modern for this project for example listen to the album version of Hollywood Tonight and then listen to the demo and Throwback Mix to see how badly they edited his vocals on the album version and number two: those three fake songs: Monster, Keep Ya Head Up, Breaking News which weren’t sung by him at all. They were sung by an impersonator called Jason Malachi.
It not a bad album, but it’s still disrespectful to MJ and was nothing but a huge cash grab for Sony.
Xscape was also released after his death but it was actually a pretty good album. The original versions are better obviously but the remixes were good too.
It wasn’t a bad album, it wasn’t great either but for most of us or at least for me it was released way too soon . Some of the songs are mid but still enjoyable to jam to ….. why they put those 3 fake songs on the album sayin it was Michael when it wasn’t is beyond me . Keep ya head up, Monster & Breaking news are the fake asf songs that I’m glad they finally removed…..overall the album is 2.5

Xscape is just so much better and 100% Michael. At least it had the original versions and the reworded versions that were a great combination. The 'Michael' album was a mixed bag of not the best tracks and the record company obviously knew the fans would buy it anyway and kept the better tracks for the Xscape album.

I personally think that this album is better than Xscape, which released in 2014, and even though some fans hate Jason Malachi some of his songs can sound good and pretty close to MJ's voice, you can check out "water" it's a nice emotional song, kinda sounds like Earth song if it was made in invincible era
