Firstly, this is about the coolest thing I've seen in model railroading in quite some time. It's apparent that Changming is producing the best models on earth ATM and the Chinese model railroaders are able to enjoy model trains at a level no one else is. What's amazing to me however is that I saw you post highlighting this new video on facebook and that it garnered a whole (as of the second day) two likes whereas the same generic "here's my BNSF SD70ACE" post right next to it has over 400 now. Are model railroaders really THAT closed minded? The same orange and black SD70ACE from Walthers or whoever IS NOT as interesting as THIS!
Model railroading has been an…..interesting… hobby from an anthropological perspective for the lack of a better way to put it. Most people seem to model what they grew up with or what they know, many model the trains in an area and era of their interest, whereas I model what I find aesthetically pleasing. But I can’t say that you’re wrong in thinking that there seems to be problems with model railroaders accepting and even appreciating models that aren’t of their own interest. It’s almost like watching someone who appreciates watercolor paintings but can’t even bring themselves to look at canvas art drawn with oils or acrylics or pencils. This is, indeed, a bizarre hobby at times…
Thank you so very much! I really enjoy making them and I'm glad there are people out there who get something by watching! Take care and happy model railroading!
You are right. That's at another level. It tops the best scaletrains and the 2 or 3 close competitors. So here's what I think. The problem is the north american models train companies just don't have access to that tier of Chinese manufacturing. They're getting a tier or two down from whatever cm is able to get to build their models. It's possible cm truly owns their manufacturing and can get the quality out of it. Meanwhile the north americans are stuck with whomever is willing to take on their low volume jobs.
My guess is that if you tried to tell North American model railroaders that they aren't at the top of the heap they'd flip out and try to figure out all kinds of reasons why you're wrong. NA model railroaders just seem really closed minded and unaware of anything else going on in the world. SD70ACE... AGAIN! YAY!
Ho is more vibrant than o gauge/scale and neither is great as far as what you said goes. It's.. ok at the risk of insulting everyone, overly driven by nostalgia.
@@kkrices Probably true that nostalgia drives people to "love" certain trains/roads, etc. more than others. It's just too bad that it translates to a type of sheltered experience. Well, at least we have Dr. Hobby to show us a different way!
Well, I do completely appreciate folks like yourself who don’t mind something out of the ordinary! Thanks tons for watching and I’ll keep ‘em coming as much as I’m able!
They actually use these types of flat cars in Kenya if you watch the videos! Also, did you notice that they just didn't simply stick an LED in the cab? It actually looks like a real light as they would instal in a real cab.
Marvelous locomotive! How would someone in the United States (who doesn’t speak Chinese) order one of these? (I didn’t see a link in the description, but perhaps I missed it.)
You can't really purchase these anymore as they're long out of stock. As far as Chinese locomotives in general, the hobby sensei is the retailer in North America that handles Chinese trains. Thanks so much for watching!

It's worse than nostalgia in my opinion but I didn't want to state it too bluntly.

Also, I can't be the only one that sees the Battlestar Galactica reference here?😀
No one’s mentioned it yet! You can’t teach culture, I guess. You have to know it ;)
