      I feel like.
      Though yes, is a clever tactic.
      Its REALLY BAD to use it repeatedly.
      Cuz the Seperatists will eventually realize 'they keep faking surrenders' and just shoot people when they surrender, assuming they're planning something rather than surrendering

      @@Canadian_Zac It will be better in terms of image. The separatist, if they fire on surrendering soldier, will appear as unhuman aliens without mercy nor consideration for life, which is how the republic want them to be, or the empire that the republic had already become. I mean, the republic during the final year of the clone war was an empire in all things but name. Is fighting to the last man a good idea ? Most beings tend to favor survival over heroism, despite them having great dream of heroism. That's human. Although, there are examples of last stands that have managed to survived because they fought to the last man and kill so many enemies that they managed to survive. Not always possible when your ennemies are droids that can outnumber you ten to one just based on cost per unit..

    • @guimot0123
      @guimot0123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@flyer3154 Well, there is no "Geneva Convention" in Star Wars, but there was a comic that mention something closer to that during the Clone Wars.
      But there is a reason why we consider perfidy (fake surrender) as a war crime. It is because this can backfire drastically to the one who commited it.
      Taking for example the countless times that the Republic and the Jedi commited a perfidy in The Clone Wars. That will serve as a justification for the Seppies to also commited other war crimes like the execution of POW's, civilians and etc. They could justify that by saying: "The Republic scum is known to fake surrender so they can strike while we last expect. So we will start to execute all republic prisoners we have to prevent that".
      This is why we consider "perfidy" as a war crime. It's kinda of a logical reason rather than a simple way to make "war fair". So probably there is also something similar in the Star Wars universe.

    Actually I’m surprised about Kenobi being so cool about the whole thing. Yes he did some things in clone wars that can be considered as crime or trick(depending on your sight) but I always remembered Kenobi trying to choose the right and honorable way but in this case he is very much ok with Cody shooting the Sepratist. Maybe I am thinking this because Anakin is always too far opposite and always acting with his anger, his passion and emotions.

    Honestly I feel like the war crime of false surrender in Star Wars is not enforceable, if it is no one does it.

    Without Count Dooku, General Grievous or their allies like Nute Gunray, the CIS are pretty much the good guys

      Thing is Dooku wasn’t a bad person, and Greivous only commuted war crimes on Sidouses orders. Dooku actually cared for the outer rim and left the Jedi because he thought they were too restricting and were losing connection with the force. Most of the Trade Federation were just greedy, but Sidious was the major driving force behind the CIS commuting war crimes and most evil that Dooku and Greivous did were because of Sodious, without out Palpatine the CIS leaders would be much better beings and the CIS would have been a force for good.

      @@toby1061 that’s how Dooku felt originally. And that’s how Sidious lured him to the dark side. Once he was seduced by the dark side, he became corrupted. He no longer cared about doing the right thing, but only power. That’s the tragedy of Dooku.
      And Grievous may have been a proud warrior once, but by the Clone Wars he isn’t just a sadistic murdered. Dooku and Grievous aren’t good people. The average Separatists were good, but the corrupt leader were not.

      @@toby1061 ye, and hideous perfectly manipulated dooku so that he would continue doing evil things, for the greater good he thought would out way the wrong doings, but that never came. And while grievous was just bloodthirsty, lol, he had a loyalty to his home species, and fought against the oppression and ignorance of the jedi and the republic, and mostly for revenge too but still. So good intentions, (thinks of grievous) maybe, but bad actions.
