I have a coal black one I was going to mount, I think it's from MN or MI. I'm in MD and the beavers in the north central and north east parts were graded same as NY ones back when I sold to a buyer there. They are pretty nice looking.
I like Northerns especially those reddish brown Kenai Peninsula beavers that are longhair. Plucking takes away durability and wind protection because guard hairs provide wind protection.
What tannery do you recommend and where can you have a beaver plucked and sheared. I have a Singer fur sewing machine and I want to make some garments for myself, family, and friends. Thanks in advance. Brad C
We used to recommend Tubari Ltd, but they have since closed their doors. Moyle mink or sleepy creek are a couple to look at. As far as the plucking and shearing, it is hard to come by right now as Tubari was the only tannery we knew/know of that plucks and shears beaver pelts.
I wish I knew how to tell what kind of fur my Vintage Hudson Bay Company stole is... I have mink garments but this stole has softer fur... but I know it is not rabbit... I wonder if it could be beaver?
Randy thanks for the video. I put on Trappers Report. Post as many things as you'd like there and put up your banner ad if you want as you post. Thanks.

Sorry we do not know of anyone at this time.
