When I was in college in Phoenix, I taught our rhythm guitarist how to play in about 3 weeks (for the uninitiated, if you have a DESIRE to play electric guitar, and someone to work with you, rhythm guitar is so easy to pick up, it's like cheating). My girlfriend at the time used her network and we rented and filled a hall with about 200 people. Our band had been together only a few weeks. Those people were not 'cold' off-the-street contacts, they were in her and her brother's longtime social network there in Phoenix. There were other times in my career where I did not have a girlfriend like that with a 'warm' network to pull people from and we could barely get anyone. So, getting 15 people to show up, I mean if it's not a 'warm' network you're sourcing those people from, 15 people is cool. You have got to be humble if you're sourcing people from a 'cold' group (you don't know any of them, and none of them know you). Don't get discouraged, just keep at it, and over time, people WILL find out about you and start showing up in larger numbers.
This is about where im at. The handful of people closest to me have seen me perform but they've also seen me record or put together my own shows, or network or press up merch. They know how serious i am so they try to be supportive where possible. I struggle with flipping them into more fans. Maybe i should show my "process" more
Keep at it fam, you'll get there. Might be easier to get a couple of friends or family members to come out to see you perform first and have them bring a few more people they know. At our shows, artists convert other artists fans at the shows and that helps them build their fanbase.
