I had to give you the thumbs up when you said you love to listen to the older generation, I fear that's what has been lost on a LOT of people today, they just don't realize the knowledge you can get from the people that have been through it already, they like to think they know it all, you need to learn something every day or your going backwards. You got a good head on your shoulders Hayden😁
@@HaydenOnHarvest My stepfather (now passed away) told me stories of going out West in the late 1940's to help with the harvest. My grandfather told me that he'd sooner have my grandmother on a wagon of loose hay (before bales) than most of the men he'd hired ... I'm with you on this.
Oh Hayden, my heart breaks for the farmers and the crews affected by the hail storm. To see a years worth of work destroyed in a matter of minutes is heartbreaking. 4G is a great team-oriented bunch. Shana looked like a NASCAR pit crew boss on her lawnmower. Excellent work on the video Hayden, thank you! ❤️❤️
Had the same thing here in west Texas on September 11 2023. Over 200,000 worth of hail damage to equipment. On the bright side insurance gave me no trouble hope y’all have the same luck
Your mum and dad raised you right. Listening to the older farmers is always informative and often, entertaining. Also, I like how you and your mom keep your cabs clean. I watch others who's cabs are dirt pits. Ugh!. Do you buy crop insurance at your field?
My heart goes out to the farmers & yes it’s bad you watch all the corn or wheat grow for a long time and pretty much a few days before harvest it gets destroyed . With the vehicles it is an other story . It can be fixed , but usually one gets a run around from insurance companies . As always a well made video
I need a Hat. :) Oh and First. IM glad you guys are ok from the storms. Getting hailed out is one of the worst feelings a farmer goes though. Stay safe out there.
Hate to see that; my grandparents farmed in NE Montana for decades. I can remember a year in the late 80s that their wheat was looking particularly good until a wind driven hail storm pounded it so badly there wasn't even stubble left. Weeks of work, high hopes, and your livelihood torn up in a matter of minutes and not a thing you can do about it.
I also live in central Texas and last April we had baseball sized hail and it busted 7 windows on our house and went through the wall of our garage a few times
Mother Nature is a cruel old gal sometimes. I had a drip irrigated field of cotton one year that I had the stripper sitting on the turn row ready to roll the next day. Easy 3 bale cotton. And it was gone. Destroyed the cab, bent the fire out of the fins on the chute going into the burr extractor. Flipped two pivots. I’ve had sections of 4-5 leaf cotton get obliterated. It’s part of it! You made me feel old when you said you grew up on a 8330! I grew up on a 4440 pulling 18 row sand fighter. First new tractor I bought was an 8410!
The harvest crew I was on back in 89, our boss would make us wash everything when it would rain before we moved to a new state. The last field we could we’d have all our dives open wide and we’d run everything at max speed down the road to blow out the inside as best we could. We didn’t have a nifty leaf blower. As we were pulling into our stop in Kemble Nebraska the thunderstorm that came through that area was so awesome looking but the next day the awesomeness went away. The width this storm came through looked like miles. It look like the hand of God had just come over and smooth all the wheat flat. when it isn’t even your property or your livelihood and it still crushes the soul from you seen the fields destroyed like that will bring a grown man to tears. Have y’all ever calculated how much time your header spends out of the wheat when turning versus going around the field and cleaning up the end rows when done. IIt just seems like a lot of time on the engine and separators that doesn’t need to be ran up. Have you guys ever ran your machines yourself for the day versus when you have it running in auto steer? Would there be any difference on the amount of acres you could do? Or do you remember how to run a machine without auto steer and header controls ? Lol just joking, I’d fall asleep.
I fought the battle in CT last year to get crop harvested from all the rain we had and now fighting to try to plant this spring because of rain. The mud battle is real. Great video
When I graduated in 1989. My friend left for the Navy. His grandfather needed help with wheat harvest that summer. A John Deere. All hydraulic levers and a 18 foot head. Air-conditioning was a swomp cooler. The best time in my life. I'm sorry to hear about the loss.
I lost a crop of soybeans with the combine in the field waiting just one more day to dry. you are able to accomplish a day's work. More work due to a few minutes storm.
That was a hard hit. I heard they lost all their corn. Brady area and Central Texas got hit hard. Just glad no major tornadoes like in some areas the last few days. Good reference to Mary Alice!!! Be interested to hear where the crew took shelter?!?! In a camper in that kind of hail and wind is NOT for the weak of heart. Been through it.
Really enjoy your videos Hayden. You had less than a 1000 subscribers when I found your channel. Your videos are always good to watch. If you have any hats for sale I’d buy one in a minute. Thanks for all the good content. See you next time. Saying hello from northeast Georgia.
Mother nature can and iften is cruel like that. But all that can be replaced. Just happy no himans or livestock were harmed that we heard about. Thats why every farmer should have crop insurance.
Dang those stupid globes are expensive, I think from now on if I leave something in the field on a night that’s stormy I’ll take the globe off and put it in the cab. I’m glad I caught this video I’ve never thought about hail breaking one.
I hate to hear that for the farmer. Hopefully he had insurance. I'm sure my dad got hailed out a few times in the 70 years he farmed. Plus you lost out on cutting the wheat. Hail is so destructive. Thankfully you didn't get more damage to your equipment. Some hail they in the texas panhandle the other day was 7.5 inches across. You wouldn't have any equipment left after that. I'm tired of storms, wr have them almost every day/night.
Mother nature is crazy sometimes. We are complaining about the rain, but next week we will be complaining about the heat and how dry it is. Lol Let us know when the merch will be available. Your gonna have 4g stuff all over this country. Hahaha
It's hard to stand by and watch your crop be destroyed in minutes. You have poured you heart and soul into growing it and then just have to stand there and watch it be destroyed in minutes. MOTHER NATURE can be cruel at times, but it is what it is. You take that chance every year. This not only hurts the farmer but also effects many other around the area, like merchants in town, harvesters, grain elevators and so on - there are so many.
Oh boy, thats sadder than any movie ending, been there many times, I wonder how many people caught that its not a cutting day mary alice? I know the exact movie, see if anyone else does. Anyways, carry on, its times like those that test a persons moxie, from what i can see you and eveeryone around you has that!
Мне кажется они эту голодовку искусственно делают... В этом году очень многие голодные останутся половина России пол Украины пол Казахстана лишилась своего урожая ...
@@HaydenOnHarvest that is because you don't know what a good machine is because look at John deers now laying off working people that thought John deers were number one and there not they are junk
It is disheartening to see you plant, spray and fertilize and then hours before you harvest it does this. Crop damage, equipment damage, so devastating? Yes you have insurance but that is expensive also and only covers cost and doesn't give money to live on or capital for next crop.
Hey Hayden, odd question. But do you think it’s possible to get one of your company hats? I want a new hat to wear and I really like the simplicity of yours hats. If so I will send you a email or a dm on insta of my postal code.

We do yes but the hail damage was 70 miles south of us so all we got was rain thankfully

great video . Thank you guys. So very sorry the farmer MM lost most if not all of his Harvest.
This wasn’t m&m’s land this was 70 miles south of where we are cutting. The crew and the farmer that we previously were working for is who got hit

When bad weather is projected, can you put the globes inside the cab for the night?
How can we buy 4G clothing and hats?
That is devastating and heartbreaking for the farmers. Hopefully crops and vehicles had insurance coverage!
Trying to catch up….only at the hail in Texas episode. Why the Macdons instead of Deere?
Great that you mentioned the older generation! Also bad that the ‘great white combine’ came along and threshed it all.
Sorry to see the hail damage, tell that guy I'm SORRY. Thank you for sharing today. John T.😢😢😢
