Day one of knowing I needed to be verified, 9 1/2 weeks to get that letter and now they request to see me in person. That IRS building is 4 counties away, 2 1/2 hours there and back.

Thank you. No correspondence from the IRS, but I found out, on my own, that they didn't update my address with the the 1st Stimulus deposit. Since they don't answer the phone, I can't give them my correct address. My 2020 return has it. The one they have is from 2009, the last time I filed. I retired, became a non-filer.

When I received the letter I was grateful that someone else can't steal my refund. I used my laptop and phone. It took about a hour because I didn't understand the process. I had to restart several times, climb a ladder to find a document, etc. If they flag me again I have it down.

I called the IRS and researched the tax topic so much it literally drove me crazy! Everyone will have different experiences and release dates because no one person is the same as you. After three months of driving myself crazy, I decided to let it go and be surprised when my refund was finally issued to my bank account. This would have been the perfect advice anyone could have gave me before driving myself crazy trying to figure out what's going on! When I tell you I understand the frustration that is no lie! Your taxes will eventually be released if there are no problems. My wholehearted advice would be to just let the process take its course. When I got my refund in November it was like Christmas, my birthday and the lottery all-in-one LOL! The money was even more appreciated at that time then it would have been when everyone else was receiving their tax returns. I wish you all luck!
@@tankprice1951 there was no problem at all. What was told to me was basically they went through my return with a fine-tooth comb. Making sure my return was 100% accurate and truthful. They pull people like a lottery. The agent said I had no red flags and it just happened to be my turn.

Unbelievable after 40 years of paying US taxes our tax accountant identified eligibility for a tax refund when submitting our 2020 return. Here we are in 2022 are still attempting to get this resolved. We have written, faxed and spoken to various IRS departments and agents throughout 2021 and earlier this year after submitting our 2021 return (often with the help of our tax accountant) with lots of IRS apologies with such excuses as computer system failures, significant increase in fraud cases, Covid absences and a 6 month backlog opening mail where we faxed in our original proof of taxpayer identity via copies of our Social Security cards. Regardless still no refund but we did just receive a Notice ID 4800C (dated 14th Apr 2022) arriving in our mailbox on the 27th Apr 2022 demanding that they would be denying our refund unless (once again) but more specifically we could supply proof that our original (40+ year old) Social Security Cards were NOT stamped with a "NOT Valid for Employment" endorsement - and these must be submitted within 30 days of the original letter (that took nearly 2 weeks to get to us)! We had already faxed this information in 2021. Once again, we dug out our unstamped SS Cards, scanned to a PDF and completed all the forms we are contesting. Luckily (we thought) the IRS has a Documentation upload tool [ 30 files max up to 5Mb per file] - which seems easy to use but never actually completes the uploads/scans even after waiting 3 hours uploading a tiny 300Kb in 5 PDF files. Just watching spinning icons with "uploading" for hour after hour! As this news article suggest - we must be flagged by the IRS with the keep-kicking-the-can-down-the-road until they give up flag!

I was only asked to provide a picture of my ID and a 20 second A/V call. When I asked questions about the service, I was denied the information.

Now I got a letter saying they need to verify my identity for my refund lol ok so here the best part I can go on line and have my tax transcripts sent to my new address but they can't verify me and holding my fucking refund and sending my tax info to a person they need to verify identity keep up the good work IRS lmao hope all you get fired
