Woops. I just noticed I said "isolation" in the princes fight where I should have said "insulation" (the Dutch word for insulation is "isolatie" so that's where the confusion came from)

I went from laughing at the AoWii joke to crying when you reminded me of the Wii's release 😢 That was areal downer...more like an Area Old Effect for me...
So for some clarification for the storyteller staff poison - for some reason its dot calculation is completely different from all other poison sources available to the player. Both poison's and toxic's damage is a combination of flat damage and % max hp damage and the Storyteller staff's poison has very low flat damage but much higher % max hp damage - so on high HP targets like bosses it outdamages toxic but on players it might actually end up weaker than regular poison.
The reference to Chaos Storm one-shotting Manus was a very slick callback to the one-shot challenge The Backlogs did. That comment does not even begin to explain how much luck went into actually getting that one-shot lmao
Actually none of us used chaos storm to one-shot manus (some of us tried, including myself) but we succeeded with fire tempest. However Manus can in fact be one-shot with chaos storm as well. That has been done. But the thing is that with the lava pools and the lower damage of the fire pillars themselves, that's even MORE RNG heavy than with fire tempest
Ok so here is the thing the weapon art of the Morne's great hammer is an AOE and does ridiculous damage for even higher NG cycles. Waiting to see it in action.
Cool video idea again PressContinue. I love your Runs and especially that you are still giving Bloodborne lots of love which still is my favorite From Soft game. I wish you have a nice day
I think if "Quelana" wasn't in the title and he wasn't such a huge fan of her, he probably would have been fine with teaching out of that tome. The only other tome he won't read is the Grave Warden one, and that's because the magic itself disturbs him. Every other book he's like "hell yeah, let's learn this bish".
ive never seen this done before but ive always wanted to see elden ring with only the crag blade ashe of war: specifically the hitbox of putting your weapon in the ground

Press, this is a great video so far, and I’m sure it’s going to be great by the time I finish it. But, I had to pause at 23:04, because I explicitly remembered the spell being called “Pestilent Mercury” and have been corrected by numerous people, claiming it was always “Pestilent Mist.” I feel so vindicated for all those times they gave me shit for referring to it as “Pestilent Mercury.” I have no idea why they renamed it. “Pestilent Mercury” sounds so dangerous and volatile. “Pestilent Mist” sounds so boring in comparison. Truly a mist-ake on From’s part. Edit: At 32:04, regarding the fat rolling: If I recall correctly, those little lizard things that roll at you like boulders have a spit attack. Getting hit by it causes you to fat roll temporarily. There’s one right next to the ladder you have to climb up to get to the slab and the npc. Edit Edit: I have falsely accused the rock lizards of crimes they did not commit. I am truly sorry to all parties who have suffered as a result of my claim.
@@PressContinue Okay, I had to double check: they don’t have a spitting attack at all. I don’t know what enemy I am thinking of, or if said enemy even exists. I would like to think I am confusing the rock lizards with a different FromSoft enemy that does have a similar attack, but honestly I can’t be sure. The rock lizards are innocent. I concede.
@@PressContinue They do! That could have been what I was thinking of. Similar color palette, I guess. Could have sworn there was an enemy that slowed you down with spit in one of the games, but I don’t think it was this one.
Really loved how unique this one felt, lots of old favorite attacks (hello again Storyteller's Staff). I don't anticipate you'll see this, but I'd been watching a lot of your DS2 and DS1 challenge videos which have always been some of my favorites, and I was thinking about some of the specific methods the challenges revolved around. A lot of them used one single R2 attack or single weapon ability, and I feel like Elden Ring has sort of been lacking in the department of weird-ass unique weapon attacks. However, with the new DLC, we got a couple of options- one of them is the Smithscript Greathammer. I had a concept for a challenge run using only it's unique R2 throwing attack fully charged, but without leveling endurance, so it drains your entire stamina bar every time you use it. One other idea was the new Repeating Crossbow weapon art (basically Gael's machine gun move), with a resource conservation based challenge of using only certain kinds of bolts or something along those lines, since it takes ~20 bolts every time you fire it and does below-average damage with a long animation. Love your stuff as always and I would freak out if ever you saw this and took inspiration from it! Thanks again for the content.
Since you mentioned Mornes Hammer being similar to Grant Fun Fact: the motion value of Grants jumping attack combined with its weird scaling means the jumping attack nearly always did the EXACT same damage as its proto weapon art
little lesser known fact is that the sleeping wolnir is a different wolnir with a different hitbox and whatnot, if you hit him while he's close to death you basically get to restart the fight you just sat around on XD
I honestly thought this was a very timid video as far as wordplay was concerned, but maybe it's become so natural that I don't even notice it anymore XD
If you want to get pedantic then the basic fireball IS an AOE. It can hit multiple enemies if they're close enough, it just has a very small radius. If you want to get REALLY pedantic then The Soul Spear spell is an AOE. It's area is in a straight line but it can hit multiple enemies along that line. Also every melee attack is an AOE since every weapon can hit multiple targets in one swing. Then there's Lightning spells that cause a small AOE if the enemy is standing in water. I could go on but I think you get the point
I have an aoe myself. It's called fart cloud and it's very deadly. But it comes with some serious debuffs and lowers all your stats by 50% when used. Still a useful skill to have
imo you could have poked gundyr to death with some starting poking weapon, the pointy end, you see, has an area of effect right where it pokes the enemy at lol.. also I´m gonna steal the "first try victory on our second attempt" thanks!!
Given how you defined it, this is less "AoE attacks" as a general run... and more specifically radial attacks. AOE attacks as a category would be much more generous.
14:12 If I remember correctly the izalith tome also has spells Engi taught you, and there’s definitely a society that existed before the death of the fair lady, so presumably the Izalith tome was written by disciples of the servants of chaos, whereas the quellana tome was written by her alone. Multi-hit attacks in ds3 have a limit on how many times they can hit (once every 2s per target iirc) so that's why they feel underpowered in comparison to ds1
