Dick Stockton is my favorite sportscaster! He never talked too much, he always had a way of letting the pictures speak for themselves and only interject when it was necessary. A pleasant voice, nice tempo and rhythm, and always to the point. HoF!💖
agree, Dick was the best because he didn't make it all about himself. He let the game, the players, the coaches be the focus, which is how sport broadcasting should be
He was an excellent broadcaster, I remember when he did the Red Sox games for a few years, he was great to listen too and made a slow game more exciting with his knowledge
@@Mrd9960 yes, I'm from Boston, I was 10 years old, I stayed up late because the game went into Xtra innings, it was edge of your seat excitement even for me a ten year old, Stockton was excellent

Many argue the '86 Celtics as one of the greatest teams ever. Independent of that, I definitely believe they were the greatest passing team I've ever seen. Not one guy of the starters or within the rotation was a bad passer. McHale or Parish, seen as the "worst" passers, were still quite effective and not a liability when double-teamed. Bird and Walton were ELITE passers and, arguably the tops ever at their positions in NBA history. Walton, along with Wes Unseld and Kevin Love, was one of the greatest outlet passers ever!
@@josephvitielo1693 I didn't forget because, Cowen's retired in 1983 with the Milwaukee Bucks and wasn't on the '86 Celtics! His last year with Boston was 1980!

It’s fun watching Walton turn back the clock. He had spring in his step and that block against Worthy sealed the game. Funny when they were talking about college basketball they mistakenly said Bird won the national championship. Then they fail to mention Jabaar and Walton’s place in college basketball history.
@@rayc6206 Losing Wedman really affected Larry Bird. In hindsight Bird was even off a little in the Houston series without Wedman to give him some relief. It went unnoticed because the Celtics won the finals but the next season you definitely saw what the absence of Wedman caused.
Though it would not have changed his number of Titles Bird won, but if he could have gotten 2 vs the Lakers and evened up the professional scoreboard of 2 and 2 vs Magic would have looked just a tiny bit better But like someone said - in the spring of 86 Houston was playing the best ball in the west.

The Houston series was a matchup fluke. Bill Fitch had watched Kareem destroy a Akeem Olajawon in the low post for 2 seasons. Akeem had no clue how to even get Kareem's attention. He had scored 46 pts 43pts 40pts Going into the WCF Fitch had the luxury of putting Sampson on Jabbar. Ralph played him a little better defensively.
