The detail looks good. The elephant in the room is that this is apparently derived from the 1:24 Trumpeter kit and has a number of inaccuracies. There are articles out there highlighting what they are. I don’t mind 1:35 - so what when you are displaying different kits in different scales anyway. Aftermarket will be more of an issue but it looks like it’s not too bad out of the box. But having said that, I guess there won’t be tons of decal options. I’d rather pay £55 to use it in a diorama with all the panels off and a good choice of accessories than £100 for the 1:32 Tamiya
The 'Black Rings' are a product of printing too light a shade of Roundel Blue sat on top of a slightly darker (albeit wrong shade) roundel red centre. The 'Black" is the trap beneath the Blue 'Donut' showing through.
Did I really spot fabric-effect covered elevators at around the 12:00 mark? That inexplicable error (and an egg-shaped fuselage cross section) was why I sold my 1/24 Trumpeter kit back in the day. So sad to see it again here for no reason. You'd have to sand it smooth and re-rivet. And the decal sheet being poor only makes it worse since the scale is not well covered. I am usually positive about new releases but this is a hard pass, alas.
The roundels are obviously completely wrong, in the red, blue & yellow colours. The black line on the might be where the red ink overlaps the blue, and if the two colours were the correct shade, might not have shown up. Look closely at the yellow ring on the fuselage - the same thing has happened there. It certainly isn't meant to be there, and I have never seen a Spit, or any other RAF type with that marking. Considering that this is a £60+ with just one marking option, with markings that can easily be researched, I wouldn't want to have to spend another £20 on it just to correct their lazy mistake. Pass.
Don't get why they have done it in 1/35 when their Lancaster is 1/32!! Can't see Military Modellers being interested because they don't build aircraft and visa versa 🤔
Hi . We do , i build 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 armour. Always wanted 1/35 aircraft for dio possibilities or , more 1/48 armour for smaller , mixed projects . Had neither really till now . M
That's fair enough - and yes mistakes can be made - but in this day and age - and the fact they are offering PE parts to represent the cowling latches - there should be no reason to. Those transfers are shocking and reminiscent of kits up to the 70s when we accepted that's just how they were.
Border models aircraft decals are pretty bad, the 109 and 190 were badly researched lacking even the basic stencils on the 109 and most of the 190A-6 options were for the A-8. Add to the a the vague instructions and it's a shame as the plastic looks great.
That comparison of scales was very interesting, thanks Phil.

Phil, review their 1/35 Kate. The stressed skin is awesome.
Looks like a decent kit, but my big question is: Will the aftermarket supply alternative decals in 1/35?
Same thoughts here. Where are you going to get 1/35 decals from
@@RWHobbies Fantasy Printshop/Eurodecals I did them a decal set two months ago which is on sale now ;)
@@jachmastr look good, but not paying £30 for decals. That cost on top of kit, might as well just get a good 1/32 kit.
@@RWHobbies fair enough I didn’t realise the price was that much! 😮

It’s the trumpeter kit on a 1/35 scale Larry hence all the same mistakes
Looks like the Hobbyboss 1/32 dogs dinner.
As I understood it’s a hobby/trumpeter rebox on a different scale with all its faults
Well, afterrmarket mask set sould be better than these awfull decals.
Plastic is nice, thanks for the review
At this point selling another spitfire is like selling sand to the arabs.
Kit look fab; the decals are dreadful and inaccurate in colour by the looks of it. I’m sure, instructions will be wanted by too, like most Brder kits.

The Lancaster is a wing nut wings kit, border bought 5he tooling after the company went under
What, am I the only weirdo who builds both tanks and airplanes? Lol.

@@raifevesra581Nope.
Those roundels are totally bogus, I'll be cutting some masks and painting the markings.
