Currently building the Santa Visit and Alpine lodge with my 6 year old daughter. They are absolutely awesome sets, and I am having a blast with some father/ daughter time. I do have the Disney 100 Camera set on my wish list. It looks amazing and filled with nostalgia.
I just finished rebuilding Santa's Visit as well. After figuring out how to sort pieces (rebuilding doesn't have labeled bags) I had a great time with it. I just need to build the tree and presents.
@@jordibarguno The tree should be fine as long as you're not constantly keeping it on. I also saved the black tab and put it back in the light brick before storing it away, just in case another brick would push against the light brick.
@@jardex2275 Initially my daughter had put a little piece of tape to keep it on, so she could use it as a night light in her room, 😂😂😂. Thanks for the tip on the little black tap, I saved it as well just in case.
Last Year the Galaxy Explorer was $75, but around last Spring rose to $100... It is a great build and the huge Arrowhead platform with landing gear has made me a great Star Destroyer looking LAAT with room for troops & 2 speeder bikes!
@@yoda5167 It is one of those sets that honestly is so good that it is worth its full price. For 50... Sure bet to buy multiples, store them and resell for 100 in 5 years or whatever.
i have the orchid and the horizon sets. the orchid i gave my wife as a present and she loves it :) we put it inside our house as a display piece and from afar looks exactly like the real orchid (without the need to water it or sooner become wilted). the horizon set still in my shelf, waiting for me to have free time to build it :)
I absolutely adore the Botanical sets. I put the Dried Flower Centerpiece together a few weeks ago and have it in my living room as a seasonal decoration. The space-themed postcards were a good time as well. They're hanging on a wall. And I knew I had to have the Piranha Plant when I saw your Community Post about it. When I saw some displayed on an end cap at my Target a few days ago, I snapped one up. I have a plushie (always one of my fav Mario enemies) and am thinking of displaying them together. 😆
I think my new strategy for purchasing sets is going to be “Can you easily pick it up with one hand” Or “Did Mike Psiaki design it” (Galaxy Explorer was my favorite from the previous years - and my toddler agrees)
He's not wrong though... My old UCS Millennium Falcon has spent over a decade and a half in a basement storeroom as I don't have any shelves deep enough to display it anywhere else. I also bought the UCS Super Star Destroyer back then, but it is still unbuilt, for the same reason... I'm currently looking at options that would give me space to display some of these huge sets (Eiffel Tower anyone?) when we eventually redecorate our basement living room/cinema - while it is not hard to find shelves large enough, I'm told that WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) is a thing too 😅
I would put the jazz quartet in here, the price is really great, you can build it with 4 other people and the building experience is stellar. As a music fan its my favourite set of all time
@TiagoCatarino I don't have tales of the space age myself, and I am a big space fan but I dont understand the big appeal for that set. Its mostly simple block stacking, compared to the really wonderful building techniques used for the instruments in the jazz quartet
Definitely have to agree on the Vespa. I’m building it at the moment and every section is a master class of clever building techniques as you don’t really know what part you’re building until you go to attach it and it blows your mind as to how the designer thought of doing it that way!
I really need to get the Tallneck before it goes away. I haven't played much of Zero Dawn, but it looks like such a good display piece. If the building experience is as good as you say it is, I'll trust you on it.
I recommend anyone who gets the Darth Vader Helmet leave out the grill sticker. I have it, looks so much better w/o stickers. No big deal too leaving it all black. It works. Eliminates that goofy buck tooth look.

Vespa not anymore, this is as close of a review as we'll be getting in the channel :) As for the modern art I'm not sure, but I'll probably end up doing it anyways!
Hi! I would like to advise you that the tallneck is posed incorrectly, the head should be parallel to the ground, you have it pointing forward, i think it is stressing your pieces!
They did a mid scale millenium falcon already..about 15 years ago but still they did it. Ive got one but i didnt care for it so i took apart for pieces 😅

I really think lego is missing a huge market in cheaper adult-oriented sets. Think of how many adults there must be that want well-built sets that aren't 300 dollars.
This video is exactly what I needed. I’m planning to buy the orchid and an other high quality Lego build with a total budget of around 100$. What do you recommend me getting?
Last Year I found the Galaxy Explorer for $75! It was fun to build, great to make better, and that killer Arrow base with landing gear is now a Star Destroyer-like Troop Carrier. Luv your take on the Overpriced Gunship, should do a video too. The next X-Jet really pizzes me off.
Hmm, there's been a lot of good sets within this price range, high and low; normally I buy my sets at a hefty discount but in the interest of fairness, I'll go by full retail prices. My favourite on the high end is obviously the Galaxy Explorer as it's by far the best value of all the sets that retail at $100. But the other that comes really close is the soon to retire Inquisitor Transport Scythe which I paid £56 for, about 38% less than normal. Both are great looking crafts with lots of interior space, one has a lot of play functions, the other has what's said to be one of the most comprehensive minifig selection in a Star Wars set. The low end favourite is Jay's Lightning Jet Evo from Ninjago; it's shocking how that is a low end $10 set for how big it is! It could've been a $15 set because it dwarfs all the Star Wars Microfighter sets that retail for the same price, and is vastly cheaper than the really overpriced and much smaller N-1 Starfighter Microfighter which costs $16! The mid-ish range favourites is the two smaller Indinana Jones sets; the Fighter Plane Chase really has a lot of good stuff and puts much smaller sets that are priced the same, like Yoda's Starfighter to shame. Escape from the Lost Tomb is another great one, loosely like a diorama and yet has some good figures, play features and reasonable displayability to it. It really shows how much less costly Star Wars diorama sets could and should be without the 18+ labelling that's blatantly a marketing excuse gimmick for Lego to charge more. Honourable mention for Speed Champions, they're always next level build experiences and good cut-price alternatives to the now overpriced larger Creator Expert/Icons Cars sets. But the price hikes that have occured, which is supposedly happening again next year have hurt its value side of things.
When you 12 maybe...ive got one live grandparent and she can't remember my name anymore..if she buys me lego for christmas ill be suprised to say the least..🥳
