Well, not much really. It’s just where I grew up and it’d be cool to see that on a vid. A lot of my relatives went to Chicago, too. They’d stay for a while then move back. I left to join the military and never went back, except for visits. You have skills with the camera work, props on that👍🏻 I can’t believe how much Hazard has changed. Do ppl still use that parking ramp at the east end of town? LOL

It used to be easy to get into a strip mine but no one will let you in any more, but there isn't much strip mining going on now. Next time I'm down there I look into Yerkes and Busy, Willard seems too far away. Where are you living now?
I live in North Tonawanda ny. My wife is from this area, we met in the Air Force. Thanks for offering to do the Yerkes fly over. I hope it works out. As teenagers we used to ride our motorcycles on the strip mine roads. No one said nothing to us. Got a little too close to a blast one time. Took cover behind some trees as the rocks and debris rained down on us. Good times🤣🤣🤣
Mr. Smith, thank you for a beautifully shot video. I enjoyed downtown Hazard. I remember going there when I was young. I was there a few months ago and was dissappointed that Dawahare's apparel store appears to be gone. My father ordered clothes from there for 40 years after he had left the coal mines of Leatherwood. You do great work, I also enjoyed your film on the old strip mine. I know your narrator isn't from Hazard, but I appreciate his work too.

Main Street was a magical place at Christmas when I was a kid in the 60s. Window shopping was great fun. My dad owned a pool room there.

@@garysmith4864 We moved out of Perry county when I was less than 6 months. I have a very long ancestral line that still lives up around there.

Hi Shirl, I know the Amburgey family well. My mother and Sammy were 1st cousins. I haven't been back in awhile, but hope to make it up very shortly.
