Your description of the Bluetooth multi-device issue on the BluME is very useful. It baffles me that these companies don't understand multi-user households are going to be driven mad by this.

The difference is the components on pcb the b1 has a lot more internals on the pcb and I believe different Bluetooth chips

I just got the BluMe and can’t tell any difference between it and my Rockville BluTube’s Bluetooth or my $22 Esinkin BT streamer. That’s what I figured would be the case.

I had a really cheap tiny thing that used 3.5mm jack input. Just tried the rocketfish with optical connection and it was night and day. Just ordered the blume pro, hoping its another step up with the dac. How did you have it connected?

To take advantage, you need a wired connection according to Apple. Blueme supports AAC but it doesn't mention ALAC. Note Apple says it is "virtually indistinguishable" is what I would agree with. Regarding the atmos, from what I know, the atmos comes from the way it's broadcast from the device and not in the receiver but hoping someone can shed more light on that subject. I don't use Bluetooth for movies.

Ok my question is the whole CD verses vinyl thing. CD is comprible to vinyl but mp3 is not so unless you using the I phone plus aac format which closes the gap in quality verses mp3 you sending a low quality signal in mp3 format correct?

Thank you Dan for the reply. In short, to your question, yes however I feel there is much to visit about in your comment and probably deserves more of a long fire side chat than a reply. I feel the basis to this Bluetooth receiver review is less critical than other comparisons and also less technology derived and more about what we are actually hearing from these devices. Is there a very slight difference between brands, probably. But I question who is going to a/b these and critically compare this difference? Few. They all do a good job at transferring the music. I feel I have started to more generally classify music reproduction into categories because they are all a little bit different and all have pros and cons. In regards to the MP3 vs AAC question, I am no tech expert. Yes AAC is "supposedly" a higher "quality" due to increased frequency range and more sample frequency in the file. Back to generalities however, it is still compressed/lossy music transmitted through the air. So if there is a sonic quality that is audible between the two - to me it is slight - in my opinion of course, you may have better ears than I do. I have given more attention to the recording quality of the songs and I personally feel that is far more evident in sound quality than formats. Once again we are talking about what I classify as a convenience format vs a true "audiophile" format like vinyl, cd, tape etc. but even that is subjective. I am not sure this helps but at the end of the day hope you are enjoying the music regardless of format. Cheers!
