    See, this is how you got stuck with me. This was such a great video I had to watch it beginning to end twice. The pointers you gave are so important. They seem like common sense but they're not really things that I think of. As you were going through them I was like oh yeah, he's right about that. I told myself before this race, it's going to hurt. Tell yourself the legs are going to want to stop but you just have to push through that. I always think if I pushed through it I won't have anything left but that is not always the case, I am learning. That's a perfect segue into another point you have, that everyone else is hurting the same. I always think I'm the only one hurting because I am not as strong as everybody else. I have to remember that that may not be the case. Building mental strength on the bike. I think that's my weak area. I always think I'm going to die before everybody else. This video was so important for me to watch. Thank you!

      Hi Linda 🙂 I was hoping you’d enjoy this one and I’m really hoping the pointers will be helpful! Mental strength on the bike is so important, and sometimes I forget that we do this for fun at the end of the day! You’re already doing an amazing job on the bike, looking forward to the next FTP! 🙂

    Strong work Olly! Good smart riding and all helps with fitness and also race craft under fatigue, keep it going and like you say have fun whilst doing it!

      Thanks Ray 👍🏻 that’s a really good point re the fitness benefits too! Sometimes I forget about the fun bit until I’m sat on the sofa wishing I was cycling again!

    Some tips for you from someone with 750+ Zwift races in the bag -
    1. Get steering. It's a game changer and allows you to choose better lines and choose a better position for maximum draft.
    2. Get Zwift Sauce. You can then display the drafting % metric on the screen which helps you maintain better drafting.
    3. Race in 1st person camera view. It's way more immersive and actually helps you stay in a better draft.
    4. Keep having fun. :)

      Thanks matey some excellent tips there also! That’s an impressive number of race too 👍🏻 Really interesting you mention racing in first person camera, it’s not something I’ve ever tried or thought about before so will definitely give it a try! 👍🏻

    Great video Ollie and perfect advice! The one thing you should have highlighted more is your really low wkg compared to everyone else around you on the leaderboard, it was a masterclass at conserving energy!
    And fatigue, well I guess that's what the difference is between us amateurs and the pros, when the legs are totally fatigued they find the sprint from somewhere to win the race. Looking forward to the next one mate.

      Thanks Phil 👍🏻 Great point mate, I didn’t notice that until you mentioned it but I really try hard to rest at every opportunity!
      Very true what you say about us and the pros, I think they’re almost superhuman but I reckon we try just as hard! Thanks mate, managed to race against Max Wilko the other night, spoiler alert - it went badly for me! Speak soon mate 👍🏻

      Ahh i saw you two were in the same race! looking forward to seeing that, as long as you learn something from it you'll be better for the next one, On paper I think you two are quite equal so that'll be interesting to watch!@@notpogi

    Have you ever (or will you ever) give IndieVelo a chance?

      I have tried it but that was a little while ago now, I thought it was pretty decent considering how new it was at the the time.
      I ATV for zwifting so it’d be cool if at some point that was developed although it know it’s relatively in its early stages. Have you used it / what do you think of it?

      @@notpogi I’m using it and like it a lot more actually. You can actually feel the wind and drafting and the races are so much more realistic

      @@notpogi ehhe. funny thing on zwit is that when you manage to be in the front group, most likely you will be upgraded to the next cat. i noticed that on the D and now on the C. the top 5 are most of the time above the w/kg limit of the category. so when you managed to be competitive in your Cat, you will be upgraded and join the bottom of the next one....damn

    • @notpogi
      @notpogi  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it definitely does feel that way, it was more fun battling to be first than just trying to keep up. It would be good I think if the categories got looked at so the gap between both ends wasn’t so big 👍🏻

    • @Gledii
      @Gledii 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@notpogithere are some races with a different cat slit which is much more competitive. The prob is that there are no many people joining and the quality for ranking is relatively low

      There irony is that on these flat races that watts per kg is pretty useless. It's raw watts that count.
