Cool to see that you're interested in delving into Nicholas Ray's filmography. I highly recommend his debut film "They live by night" (1948). It's one of those B film miracles from the classic Hollywood era. It's true that the "French new wavers" held him in high regard. Jean-Luc Godard himself stated that "cinema is Nicholas Ray" in a write-up he did for his film "Bitter Victory"
I have read that godard quote! they live by night is high on the list. I'm also gonna blast through on dangerous ground, bigger than life, johnny guitar and the lusty men (what a title). at the same time, I'll be checking out 5 things from that other nouvelle vague-approved miscreant, samuel fuller (I've seen the steel helmet and loved it)
If you do continue to do these “History of _____ Type in Competitive” It would be really cool to see the starter types since I think they would be really interesting personally. Or just a video on FWG cores
Mamoswine in Gen 7 was actually considered incredibly good for a while with a metronome set since it was very good at breaking past all of its checks, and was one of the big reasons for the metronome mechanical discovery that kinda killed the set Alolan Ninetales actually was at its best in gen 8, since aurora veil teams were by far the best archetype for hyper offense, with or without its partner arctozolt
i know gen 8 and 9 you are not that familiar with but it would be nice to mention that some of the strongest ice types ever were introduced in those gens, Darm-G was destroying early gen 8 before getting banned and so was chien-pao and iron bundle in gen 9, also baxcalibur is a popular pick in gen 9 ou and the introduction of boots also helped with ice types crippling rocks weakness
At 59:40 you know your audience well 😂. I use this as a podcast driving around or helping me go to sleep so I couldn’t see the team. Thanks for saying it out loud 😂
Man I think ice types were actually the third most nerfed typed in gen 2, as they were nerfed in moves, defensive profile, offensive profile, and the splitting of special all hurting ice types in general
7:00 fun fact, haze works in gen 1 the same way in the next gens, but it's also a field refresh, almost. It clears light screen, reflect, confusion, sleep, freeze, stat changes, focus energy, all for the opponent. Currently the only viable mon that even learns haze is Vaporeon. The more you know 🌈🌟
That's what I suggested on Jimothy's video, but was met with complaints about Shell Smash being overpowered---despite that saving it from oblivion, and despite the amount of set variety it can have even while using it.
Well there are only three real candidates for it aren't there: cloyster, kyurem b, and weavile, and all of them have been ou relevant for about as long as one another as well. You could really just pick any of them and i doubt there'd be much to argue.
@@sohan2362There's also Mamoswine in the picture as even in the gens it wasn't OU, it still was OU viable (and generally more so than Weavile in the gens were it wasn't OU imo)

Gen 8 Aurora Veil Hyper Offense is...actually kinda nuts, and is why Alolan Ninetails is still OU. AV allows you to spam set-up sweepers, mainly Swords Dance Weavile and SD Landorus-T (the former for obvious reasons, the latter being able to double as a Defog and U-Turner to bring Alolan Ninetails back in) and/or make some tanky Pokemon actually unkillable. Speaking of which, SD Weavile is so overlooked but so nuts in like every gen other than 5.

Ice types should be immune to ice attacks. It would give them more defensive use without widening their resistances, and allow ice types to enter "safely".
