    Nice video! Interesting results that are consistent with my own experimentation with specialized buckshot chokes over a few decades.
    I ultimately settled on using factory full chokes with 00 and #4 buckshot. Additionally I run 2 3/4", 1 ounce foster slugs through the same full choke as needed in the field. This also allows me to shoot high brass small game loads interchangeably if my deer hunt is slow and I decide to bag some squirrels, etc.
    I give up some potential tighter patterns, but gain valuable versatility! When I want to reach out and touch something, I just use my fixed full choke H&R 10 gauge and 3.5" #4 buck. Or my Benelli Super Nova with the same full choke and 3.5" #4 buck. I keep it simple and versatile. Keep testing gear out, I enjoy your channel. Subscribed! 👍

    Perfect example of why you should pattern your gun with different shells and chokes for best result.

    You're experience with the Kicks choke and remington 3" really shows how it can be imperative to zero shotgun patterns at extended ranges. For that very reason, I have a red dot on my MP153.
    Also as Wade Rush and Rodger Adkins have found (as well as myself, but I haven't made any videos yet) the kicks choke really likes full length wad petals. You can kinda see it with the remington 9 pellet load you shot, since it uses the rp12 wad versus the 3" which just uses a fiber cushion wad. If you get into reloading, definitely try the BP TPS wads. I uses Rodger's 28.5gr of longshot and a white lightning, but I trim it and load it in 2 3/4". I've had good luck with light #1 buck 12 pellet loads. Gets me about 1350-1400 fps and very nice patterns with modest recoil.

    Whatever the best load for each choke, would be interesting to see a follow-up shot for consistency.

    Nice gun, I always wanted a semiauto to help with recoil on those 3 1/2 shells, they're too brutal out of my pump. My initial attempts at buckshot patterning were discouraging. I would get a great pattern one day at 50 yards and think I found the right choke . But then get befuddled with a horrible one another day with the same choke/load , and vice versa. I then started shooting at least three shots per choke tube/load Iooking for reasonable shot to shot consistency. My shoulder and bank account were not happy with me but I eventually found some acceptable combos. One 870 pump shot 3 inch Rem 000 well with the high flyer mid range (lead modified/steel full) tube, one Nova shot 3 inch Fed premium 000 well also with a high flyer mid range, and that same Nova shot Rem 3 inch 00 well with the buck kicker xfull. I stopped there, but probably could have found a good choke combo for the winchester and federal 3 inch 00 if I would have been willing to buy more tubes to try. I wish you success !

    Just found your videos. I don't know why I haven't before since I am subscribed to Wade, and Brians channels. Wade definitely has some videos out using the Rectifier with good results. But ,I believe you know each gun is different. I realize this is an older video,. but if you still aren't completely satisfied with your patterns. If you could contact Wade, I am sure he would try and help you.

    I have heard from other people and from other You Tubers that you are not supposed to shoot buckshot out of a full choke. What is the deal with that? One of the channels was Iragveteran8888 who usually seems to know what he is talking about. I am confused.

    • @TwinOaksOutdoors
      @TwinOaksOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ve never heard of that, some buckshot manufacturers like federal have flight control wads that they recommend using a more open choke with bc the wad is made to keep the shot in longer

    I just got done arguing with a guy about my shotgun getting 85-90 percent pattern in a 8"-10" target at 100-120 yards I use my phone to make videos on my channel one is a 1:08 then a short video so two part but even with a 2&3/4" #4 junkie RIO 21 PELLET round I put 20 pellets in a 8" target at 100 yards,I'm going to make a long video today doing the same test same junk ammo but unedited this time so there's no doubts,I use a Mossberg 500 with a 30"VR fixed full choke with bubba rountree outdoors load Data my shotgun puts 90 percent of the load in a 10" or less target, These New shotguns look nice but screw in chokes are garbage,The entire length of the barrel is cylinder bore then the load gets slammed together in 2" to full
    The old barrels like mine are full choke for almost The entire length of the barrel the load settles and bonds together allowing these 100 Yard kills,at 50 yards or less I get this 3" circle pattern that looks like a huge rifle round

    No Federal Flite Control 00 Buck? It's the king of Buck shot loads and you don't test it. With open choke it will wipe out all your loads. Hard to believe. I guess People like to spend money on fancy chokes & with FFC they are not needed. LMAO. Crush this deer!
    Them patterns are a joke. If you think them are ok, IDK what to think. Too painful to watch!

    • @TwinOaksOutdoors
      @TwinOaksOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      1. I didn’t have any bc there was no ammo available when I made this video 2. I’ve never had good luck with the flite control stuff so I never bought it. 3. I’ve always been a full choke kinda guy so I had what worked in the past. 4. A lot of the patterns that came out was bc of the gun, wasn’t a fan so I got rid of it and went back to a SBE1 or 870 and had good patterns. 4. With the different guns and kicks full I put the whole load in that 12x12 square at 40 which is more than enough for me and killed 3 deer in 1 or 2 shots this year so I’d say they work better out of the different guns. Sorry that the video didn’t live up to your standards but I’m glad you have good luck with the federal stuff, I just don’t. Thanks for watching and I plan on putting out another video shooting loads out of a Winchester sx4 and I have some federal so we’ll see what happens

      You wouldn't be using full choke with FC anyway if you tested them first. They pattern the tightest with cylinder choke & 00 buck. Try it you won't believe it. Get the cheapest short barrel shotgun you can find, with open choke & be amazed.@@billroberts9044
