liliana figueroa this line means to mention that we all live with a certain amount of disconnect from what is required for our survival i.e. 'paradise'. this disconnections causes us to make 'paradigms' or sets of behavior that we all follow (like people being quiet on an elevator, or accepting income inequality). its the 'years' of living in this way that paralyze us from accomplishing our needs or helping others.
I had a hard time trying to find this song because I misheard the lyrics and kept trying to search for _It's a bad time_ instead of _it's about time_. And I probably would have never found it had it not been for one of my friends who was like, "Lemme show you this song I found." So thank you, Kara.
+Kirukitsu I just looked up the words 'Pistols, pistols, pistols' cause that's all I could understand. And voila, it came up. Funny how we look up songs we can't make out the titles or band names to.
A friend introduced me to this band. I figured these guys benefited from recording in a studio and they couldn't replicate this sound live. Well I just saw them in Nashville and they are just as good if not better live.
I'm in LOVE with this new sound. I loved their first album, but this song makes me super excited for what they have next. I love this video too. It's beautiful. I can't stop replaying this video.
Young the Giant: what can i say about this group...? theyre just such an awesome group my number one! the lead singer..what a mesmerizing voice! i bet he sound as equally amazing live as he does in the tracks. and their music is overall is amazing! there is variety in their music and almost all their songs give me those "this song is so good" chills lol i hope they continue making music as good as they are now.
PSSSHH. This is progressive indie rock goodness. When Justin Bieber and One Direction start singing about something other than how pretty girls are THAT'S mainstream progression. YTG is very happily under the radar of a large amount of the mainstream audience, and I like it that way.
Matthew Westmoreland no this rock is much more radio-ready. Progressive indie rock? Nahh, I'd say closer to alternative rock, or just a more aggressive indie rock sound. This is definitely towards mainstream radio though, but it's a good change nonetheless (not implying that they were bad before, they were just as good)
Woaaaah, the comments are really aggressive, aren't they? I wanna wish these guys luck and lots of success, because they seriously deserve it. Once in a while I listen to one of the songs on their first album and it brings back so many memories. I'm thankful that they are making music that they are enjoying, and I'm super stoked to be hearing something new and different and totally cool. I liked this song, and of course the vocals are amazing. Please don't neglect your old sound
Ty Palmer You seem like a humorless person, so I'll explain it to you. That comment got so many likes because it's difficult to understand what the singer is saying during that passage. The comment puts forth a silly mishearing that makes the song more amusing to listen to if you imagine those words are being spoken instead. Maybe you could have worked that out for yourself if you weren't an elitist prick.
I'm usually into really heavy music, but this is fantastic. I heard it on my local rock radio station and fell in love. His voice is great and this is a very catchy tune.
People use the term "rock out" too loosely. It should be reserved for songs like this. Holy shit. If it comes on in my car I have to wait to go in and headbang until its over.
It’s the third you wanna watch for. Usually album one is “what can we do with these new tools”, album two is “now that we know how to use em, here’s what we wanted to do”, album three is “now what, I wanna get paid again” lol

So I saw them last night in Detroit with Kongos, Kings of Leon, and Ashes of Soma and they're actually really hype live. Seriously one of the best concerts I've been to.
Idk why but I love the video for this song, it's just very cool. I mean it's just them playing their music and some cool editing and idk I just love it. And this song is so great and I am in love with his voice
They said in an interview that this song was probably the most aggressive of the new album. So the rest may be the more relaxed sound that everyone is used to. I'm not worried, different or not, I'm still loving this music!
Seeing these guys at the house of blues in Boston in march. One of my favorite bands! Not one bad song on their first album. Very excited for their next one! If you havent checked it out yet, their acoustic stuff is phenomenal. Great music. Great vocals, very clean even live!
Well, I hear this kind of songs, and my friends who adore pop music, tell me that they never heard of them. But this is the songs I like to hear so they can' t do really anything about it. When I have this songs in my phone I feel like my self. I feel comfortable.
This is probably my new favorite song, i love the sound :o and to those who think this isn't as good as the old stuff, listen again, this is sooo freakin awesome!
Why did you come on to this video then?? Honestly, if you don't like the band, make some helpful criticism or something.. Don't be spouting hate here. This is a very talented and kind group of individuals, and it's not their fault that radio stations overplay their songs.
AMAZING song and great video!! Can't wait for this new album. Didn't like what they said at the Rolling Stone that this is the edgier, heavier song of the newer album.... Give us more of this!! Kudos guys!
This song was alright when first aired on the local radio stations in my area. Since then 'It's about time' has been so overdone with a play average of 7-14 x a day. If Its' about time' were a steak it would now be charcoal.
Steve Notes Ok Steve I apologize if I had offended you, my comment was just an opinion...that's it. About Young and the Giant, I'm sure their album has other good songs, does it not? Did I attack the song, troll it or troll you? Do I have a right to express an opinion? Wait, I think I know the answer to the last one.
When I first heard this song, I heard "I'm on a tight rope!" as "I want a gyro!" Even if it's not the correct pronunciation, every time I hear the song I now think of Greek cuisine.
you're absolutely right, I got the same idea at first listen...At the Drive-In as well. Whispered falsetto, high guitars scales, frequent changes of rhythm and dynamics... too much alike, but all in all not a bad tune
Cedric has a more powerful vocal extension, no doubt. But Sameer relies more on his interpretation skills, at least in a pop rock sense. Who's best? Hard to say..
+Jessica Because I saw Young the Giant play this song live on Sunday and this is all I could think of! I can't quite put my finger on it, but I know the chorus reminds me of the chorus from "Oroborous".
I hear it at 1:09. I mean it's obvious that it's the guitar and the high vocals, but maybe the entire song also carries a progression that MV does. Some kind of time signature. Im bad with the terminology.
When any band releases a new album all I see in the comments is "OMG this is awful they've changed their sound I want more like (insert first album here). I miss their old sound!" So you expect the band to keep the same style every album and not even change a thing? Well that's boring. When a band release the same style of songs over and over again it gets tiresome. A good band experiments with their sound and makes it different. I don't see what's so awful with this song. It still sounds like a Young the Giant song to me. It actually sort of reminds me of My Body a bit which is the song that brought them success in the first place. I'm willing to hear what they have in store for the next album and maybe people should give this song a chance.
I love this band! The lead singer has a voice that's soulful and energetic. They definitely deserve more recognition.
Well they're famous so... They get plenty.

all the years of paradise, paradigms, paralyze us...
best line ive heard in a while, great song
Stupid question...
Can someone explain.. ?
liliana figueroa
this line means to mention that we all live with a certain amount of disconnect from what is required for our survival i.e. 'paradise'. this disconnections causes us to make 'paradigms' or sets of behavior that we all follow (like people being quiet on an elevator, or accepting income inequality). its the 'years' of living in this way that paralyze us from accomplishing our needs or helping others.
Whyyy thank you james..
James Hipp Yes! Makes you appreciate poetry. A great composition.

Agreed 100% saw them in Winnipeg (Canada) this past thursday and was blown away ;)
Fueled by Ramen has some of the best bands.
I can listen to this infinitely looped.
It's so badass:-)
Young the Giant is the most underrated band of our generation.
It really wasn’t, they several of their songs were on the alt rock radio circuit and they were popular when alternative was at its peak
@@TheBiggestMoronYouKnow Starset is underrated

I love this song! Young The Giant is awesome!

Julian Escobedo That is very true, sir.

the melodies in this song wowwww. yes.

1:10 such beautiful sound those guitar chords and the kick drum ...very nice...
i love this band. they are saving rock music from strummy mediocrity.
Glen Ackerman no, Biffy Clyro is...
The quick guitar strumming change at 3:18 is really cool.
This album absolutely sold me on this band. Such talent.

Such an underrated band.
Finally, some different progression in mainstream music. Still have some ways to go though

Young the Giant, is one of the most promising of the new bands. Keep up the momentum. We're all routing for ya'.#1 baby! With a bullet.
I need another album from Young the Giant. I've been listening to the same two albums for 3 years now. Come on guys, where's the album. We miss you.
It's coming out soon!! I'm sooooo excited 💕👍🏼
+Lindsey Herbert I just heard their song Amerika on Saturday and loved it.
+princephillay same. I heard it on Friday and it was instantly my favorite song 😂😂💖
+Ysabelle Moon It's coming out in August. The singles are Amerika and Something to Believe In
It's about time for talented bands who put out quality like this to be recognized - not this mass-produced auto-tuned garbage! So refreshing, love it!
For the longest time I thought he was saying 'I'm on a gyro' Tight rope makes so much more sense.
Why did this comment get 14 likes? Society is so simple.
Why did you even feel the need to comment? Get outta here, ya soda.

SXI96 Yes, Mars Volta has a better one. I like young the giant as much as Mars Volta, but Cedric-Bixler Zavala is an better vocalist.
