It's God, not "god." The true biblical God is always capitalized.

This prayer was beautifully and flawlessly stated. This is the first Orthodox evening prayer I've heard here that is perfect with no mistakes.

Why such an unnatural intonation? It sounds like a performance, and not a prayer. Nobody speaks or thinks in such a sing-song manner, or at such a ridiculous speed as "Lord have mercy" was recited.

This is the way the monks chant in the monasteries. It's only "ridiculous" if you aren't familiar with Orthodox traditions.

Let me ask you this? Is it more unnatural to chant this way in prayer, which has bern done throughout the centuries than it is to stand on a stage facing the audience (congregation) with guitars, drums and keyboards or piano and perform as if you're conducting a rock concert instead of worshipping the Almight God who deserves our praise? Nothing wrong with a good rock concert, but there's a time and place for it. If you have never been to an Orthodox Christian service, or have never learned what Orthodox worship is, you would not understand. The entire service is sung with hymns and chants....except maybe the gospel reading and then the sermon when there is one. The scriptural hymns and psalms are sung. This is Liturgical prayer. But spontaneous prayer in our private prayers is always encouraged. This is how prayer has been conducted throughout the centuries, before the east and west split in the Church and waaaaaaayyyyyy before Protestantism. Of course God wants us to talk to him in prayer. We are also to worship him in song. And the Liturgical prayers that are sung are repeated prayers so that the entire congregation can participate, not just the clergy and choir. People often mock what they don't understand. I am a convert who converted a bit later in life and am still learning about the Ancient Faith. Others in the faith may be able to explain it better than I can. I encourage you to find an Orthodox Church parish near you and visit one service and see for yourself and ask questions afterwards. Most parishes in America have a coffee hour afterwards where people can fellowship and get to know eachother. See for yourself and seek understanding before mocking and judging how an unfamiliar church worships. You may even call a parish rectory and ask to speak to the priest there. Many of them are happy to answer questions if you're curious. It doesn't mean you're planning to convert. It just means you want to understand.

He is praying in the normal Orthodox way. We don't use conversational tone.

For all those who assumed otherwise, I am Eastern Orthodox myself. Speed recitation of prayers is NOT an Orthodox tradition.
