I did loosen the nob at the start. Keep in mind the dial only has so much range as well. So it may not just be finding a single tension that works, but having enough range if you want tighter or looser tension for different projects.

This was like watching paint dry why didnt you just leave your tension a little looser then bring it in with the dial
