This includes the course, course material, hostel and mess fee, as well as the fee for other facilities (library, sports complex, etc) as well as the transport to and fro my hometown. Now the fee has been hiked and for an IPMer, it would be around 28 lakhs, I believe. The average package for my batch was 13 LPA and probably for the 2020 batch, it was 14-15 (not sure, don't quote me on this, because I couldn't get a proper answer from anyone in that batch). Is this a good ROI? Funnily enough, it depends on you. I will give you some unsolicited gyaan to explain this (globe, as we called it) because that's what a senior would do. In my first year, I laughed to myself when professors used to tell us, "Don't think you're here for the end result of a huge salary." I was thinking, "Isn't that what B-schools are for? To escape the banalities of a non-managerial job where you're just a brick in the wall and an underworked one at that. And to get a fat paycheck at the end of the day for this 'original' choice of becoming a changemaker and a leader." 5 years later, I understand why my professors said that. Each day of your 5 years there brings you a new opportunity. I know several people who encashed these opportunities on a regular basis. We're talking people who went for conferences, debates, wrote research papers (there was one time we studied a paper our own classmate co-authored), organized huge events, and worked for committees that had little to no management supervision. You study with 119 other people who were all school toppers, state level, national level champions in academics, sports, arts, you name it. People who have put in hard work consistently have shown results at the end of 5 years. Some of them have not worked that hard, and it shows. Some people have put in hard work consistently and still have not had results. But at the end of the day, what you went through 5 years is akin to hot steel being beaten to make it strong. Your first placement through the system may look uninspiring - maybe your role is boring, or your package is bad or you didn't get a brand. But you went through so much already that you'll make it anywhere now and it will be tough to break you. And if you switch, you have all these rich experiences to talk about to the next recruiter that you probably will not have anywhere else. If you're still looking at numbers, don't worry - there are some of us who made it out with above-average packages :) But seriously, that shouldn't be your reason for coming to an IIM in general, either for IPM or PGP or FPM or anything. Come to learn and experience new and different things and to challenge yourself.

Hey IIM L is more valued these days as it remains older than iil I and the placement are better at IIM L and obviously it has a DELhi campus tooo
