Old civilizations have lots of baggages = pantang. Long time ago, associating bad luck to bad superstitions. So these are often carried forward however, nowadays sciences have stripped away lots of pantang but old habits are difficult to change. At the end of the day -pantang resides in our own minds and beliefs. Part of enlightenment will allow us to toss out pantangs and replace with facts. The younger generations are very fortunate to think for themselves and not be imprisoned with the old pantang practices. Good video on how these superstitions come about. thank you for showing the taboo topic

I just need to say although I do agree with you that children shall not be rude to the parents only if they don't rebel, I think being too pantang/superstitious would just rule the hospitality out and even ruin the family for sure if they're not on the same page. I need to say if they're educated earlier to begin with, I bet this would not happen. That's it

Have you indeed comprehended the matter at hand? This motion picture does not hold any intention to affront the esteemed Chinese culture. To be precise, the young lady portrayed therein endeavors merely to uphold her convictions, and there exists no necessity for it to become entangled with any form of offense directed at the Chinese culture or any such notion. Alas, it seems you, dear interlocutor, fail to grasp this, for you are of an elder generation, 爷爷. 😂😂😂😂

You have completely misconstrued and twisted the meaning and narrative behind the video. This video isn't telling kids to disrespect traditional values or their parents, it's showing the generational disconnect within families and over reliance on tradition and superstitions.
Is the child disrespectful? Yes, in many ways. But is the mother innocent? Absolutely not. She labels the boy as "pantang", not because she understands his situation, but because she despises his status and presence. She yells and scolds at her father, child, and the boy too, when simple clear wording would have made this more clearer with less anger and disrespect needed. Why is it that she feels the need to do all of this? Over reliance on superstition that it fogs her perception of the world, and stress put onto her by her father which she relays out onto her daughter and her friend. Through the entire video before the very end, she does not explain to her family why these things were "pantang" or why the boy wasn't welcome in their house, choosing to scold or "do as I say, no questions" rather than explain. She is stressed because of her unobiedient daughter and stress put onto her by her father to uphold her role in the family.
I do not understand which part of the video suggests to you that the message here is that that we should all disrespect our parents, when in reality, it's trying to teach us to be understanding and open-minded.
