We need more movies like this to show to the people in Malaysia, just how fragile and vital it is for us all to live in harmony with one another. We must not allow politics and extremism be it using religion, race, social class nor economy to break us apart and create the animosity that seems to grow and fester each passing day.
The first Malaysian film produced through crowdfunding, "PENDATANG," bypassed the scrutiny and cuts of the Malaysian Film Censorship Board, preserving the core content and values the film aims to convey. After watching, the impact lingered, and tears welled up multiple times. The outstanding performances of the actors made me feel like I was part of the story. The focus is not on who is an Pendatang (outsider), but on who protected whom in the face of danger-making the next generation firmly believe that skin color and ethnicity should not be reasons for division and mutual slander. Instead, they should be reasons for greater unity. Since May 13, 1969, to the present, 54 years have passed, yet the three numbers, 513, are still exploited by extremists promoting racialism. The unity of the three major ethnic groups has deteriorated to the absurd situation where anything that is not deemed halal, disrespectful to the feelings of Muslims, or involves wearing shorts is criticized. For Malays-Apa khabar For Chinese-你好嗎 For Indians-Namastē For Iban people-Nama brita nuan For Kadazandusun people-Nunu abal nu Like a key, it unlocks the knots in our hearts. May this film, serve to reunite the diverse Malaysian nation once again.
This movie portrays the Chinese as militant gangsters that can be provocative as the little Malay girl like a toyol stealing milk and later befriending the Chinese family and the two Indians as fishing with spears totally disconnected from the Chinese gangsterism scenario except for the Keling guy seemed involved in trafficking with the Chinese gangsters.
This movie deserves an international award of some kind. Despite a limited budget movie, the production, the acting, the storyline, the tempo and excitement of the plot is right up there. Kudos to all the talented people behind this film.

Hi, This is Astro AEC, a Chinese news TV channel. We are recently planning on a news topic to discuss about this film, and the message it brings up to the public. Just wondering if we can invite you for a 5-mins zoom interview to share your feelings and thoughts with our audience after watching this film? If you are interested, please do send an email to primetalknews@gmail.com, thanks.
Racism never wins. Humanity will prevail in most dire circumstances. Bravo to the production team and brilliant acting by everyone!!! Best movie I have watched in 2023
betul3, saya ingat filem Malaysia jika tentang patriotik akan sangat membosankan dan buat sy mengantuk. Tapi sy tengok dari awal cerita sampai akhir rasa teruja dan berdebar-debar ingin tahu lebih lagi, sikit pun tak rasa mengantuk..😅
All of the 3 main races in Malaysia in some ways are all pendatang from other regions around Southeast Asia and rest of Asia most notably from Sumatra, Southern India and Southern China where most of these groups trace their ancestry from. The only REAL Pribumis on this soil are the Orang Aslis in Semenanjung and the native Dayak Iban, Bidayuh Orang Ulu, Kadazan-Dusun, Murut and etc in Sabah and Sarawak and all these groups have ALSO suffered marginalization and discrimination in one way or another all because they are Non Muslims by the so-called Ketuanan fake Pribumi hegemony. One of these examples is the Orang Aslis in which they would ONLY be offered development and opportunities only if they convert to Islam. Don't forget that the ancestors of these so-called Bumiputeras came and essentially built an empire on a land that doesn't belong to them.
Good job for the producer, director, actor and all the crew for this good movie! It's such a bless that we can watch it free on TH-cam.
Bravo!!
Hope's all the Malaysian capture this beyond their hearts which is thy soul's. God always send messages thru many ways and I believe this is one of it.
I think the best parts about the movie is not the storyline itself, but the background and world settings shown the movie, which reflects many aspects in the Malaysia society and also some accurate assumption made. Referendum: 79% of the votes cast being in favor of the the Segregation Act. The results reflect two things: The race relations is extremely bad, the society is full of hatred towards each other and they believe that the segregation will bring justice to them. Interestingly enough, the outcome is not something expected by the voters who voted AGREE to pass the Segregation Act, and they are the one who complains everything. The father who voted AGREE was shocked when they are moved to their new house, and from the dialogue, it seems like they used to live in urban area. The mother reminded him that he and all other 79% voters are the causer of their new lives. Similarly, the Indian man is also the one who claims that everything is unfair meanwhile his partner adapts to everything. P.S. The Malay House is not that bad, many Malays live in Malay House for generations. Ironically, Steven asked is Seng never seen a Malay House before, which also implies that the ignorance of each others' culture is one of the reasons causing the bad racial relations in the movie. Politicians and Businessmen: Eddie and Hamid are friends since primary school. Eddie has no hatred towards other races, but like he said, he was just saying anything that the people likes to hear. When the hatred exists in the society, the politicians like to grow and further spread the hatred to gain political benefits, which is very common in Malaysia since 1957. It is also the same to Hamid, he might also gain benefits by spreading the hatred in Malay Society. It reminds me of the referendum of Brexit, the politicians use the hatred of British people towards the immigrants to make them AGREE to Brexit. It is very dangerous when you starts to think that everything unfair and bad happened in your life are all caused by other races. You are very easy to be manipulated. In the end, Hamid and Eddie are the businessmen who exploits their own races, and gain benefits from it. I believe that there is an Indian version of Hamid and Eddie in that movie. The Chinese sells furniture to Malays, the Malays sell to Indians, but in the end, all the three businessmen gain wealth and power, while the people get nothing. Sabah, Sarawak and Ringgits: Sabah and Sarawak quit Malaysia in the movie. I guess there are also referendum held by them? To stay or to quit Malaysia that impose segregation, and the people chose to leave. Sabah and Sarawak has provided various natural resources which plays important role in the development of Malaysia. But, in my OWN OPINION, Sabah and Sarawak should get more political representations and infrastructure upgrade. The politicians in peninsular always spread the hatred among races and religions, but is they any politicians in peninsular stand out and speak for the rights and fairness of Sabah and Sarawak? They are the ones who provides so much economy effects and getting so less. It is also very sad when I see Ringgits become worthless in the movie and people using USD to trade. If the religions and races are still the main tone in Malaysia's politics and become the main thing we concern when we vote, then NO ONE will come to invest in Malaysia. We should always learn from Sabah and Sarawak, their mindsets and values towards races and religions. Law and Violence: Steven and his uncle get killed easily by the militia. It shows that the militia and the violence prevails the law and everything in the movie. This is what that happens when the democratic system has been demolished by none other than the voters who have the rights to vote and decide the future in the country under the democratic system. The democracy protects the law, and the law becomes the foundation of the system. Democracy is hard to gain, but can be easily slip away, and when it happens, MILITIA or anyone with guns and comrades become the LAW. P.S. Is the MILITIA a portrayal of the Malayan Communists? Self-Reflection: Didn't you see what they write on the Internet? Oh, so you didn't write? It is different! I am justice. These few dialogues perfectly summed up the mindsets of chauvinisms. Another term that Seng mentioned is "motherland". There are many reasons causing this kind of self-identity. The self-identity is built based on many aspects in life. The self-identity has many aspects as well, the nationality, race, religion and so on, but when these self-identity turns into chauvinisms, it turns the nation and democratic system into an endless helix of identity politics, which is still prevails above everything nowadays. This type of chauvinism exists in more than one races in Malaysia. Like the name of the movie, PENDATANG. You think that others are PENDATANG, and they also think of themselves as PENDATANG. If you think they are supposed to be called as PENDATANG, then do not complain when they are not patriotic enough, because you are the one who chase them away. Similarly, when you identified yourself as PENDATANG, which is even more pathetic, then the only thing you can do and should do is become a PENGHIJRAH. DISCLAIMERS: I might mention some details in the movie wrongly, my bad. I am not spreading any hatred, just expressing some opinions and feelings towards the movie. Please do not arrest me ya. UWU. If my comment hurts anyone's feelings or makes anyone uncomfortable, just reply below, I will delete my comment ASAP.
Nah, it's actually ok and don't worry about it. I actually agree with most of your analysis for this movie. Sure I have some different opinions but I definitely respect yours. Plus, you already write such long and good analysis. I hope this comment stays since it will be a shame to see it deleted.
Terima kasih atas analisis yang sangat komprehensif ni, okay je sebenarnya komen ni, kalau sesiapa terasa, tandanya ada masalah dengan pemikiran tu. Patut dapat lagi banyak like komen ni sebenarnya sebab kadang-kadang orang tak nampak intipati filem ni dan apa yang filem ni cuba sampaikan.
Suka dgn cerita Malaysia yg berkualiti sebegini. Mak penuh dgn sifat keibuan, baik hati, penyanyang dan ingin melindungi anak2nya. Ayah sorang yg tegas, selalu pentingkan keselamatan keluarga. Anak pulak di didik dgn kasih syg, hormat satu sama lain. Tp ending macam tergantung sikit. Kalau ending mereka teruskan kehidupan sampai dewasa. Pasti mantap. This film should NEVER be banned. Its message is important to all Malaysians. We are one nation with a diverse population. It's our multicultural quality that makes us stand out in the world. DON'T play into the hands of politicians from all races who are only out to enrich themselves while playing one race up against another.

Tell it to the govt -- the useless greedy politicians hungry for power and position, who keep kicking up racial/religious tension, the academics, the lot who write and vet history books. On the matter of the 'Pendatang', the history of the region, and beyond, that is rich with so much development goes back 5000yrs+++ but our history books is biased to only serve a certain, more recent 'narrative'. Artefacts, ancient ruins, discoveries, etc and so much history from that 5000yrs+++ is either covered up, distorted, deleted, destroyed, to feed that 'narrative'. Blame it on politics and power. This movie refers to a 927 incident. Similarly, our own 513 was a political and power struggle - but narrated and presented as racial-relation tensions, to veil that fact😡😡😡🤬
Seriously am touched watching this movie. Greatly narrated story, superb cinematography, perfect acting, truly inspiring and giving us the Malaysian a wake up call if we care less about unity and racism issue. This is what gonna happen if we tend to ignore the racism issue in Malaysia. It must be stopped no matter what, and bravo to the Kuman Team for taking the effort by picturising the future of Malaysia IF racism takes place. Highly salute to all who have associated with the production of this feature film.

This is good quality film making that is not hindered by many obstacles. Given that it was crowd funded & the film premiered on TH-cam, it will be a different story if the film producers were to seek funding using traditional pathways. That is because the film's subject matter will be "frowned upon" by the authorities. Even if the film were to be approved and screened, I can imagine Lembaga Penapisan Filem ( Film Censorship Board ) having a field day snipping here and there. This is the kind of nanny state the government has become; "censored, blocked, prohibited etc, so as not to provoke racial tensions or to keep the harmony between races, etc". Good film making with introspective qualities such as “Pendatang” needs to be made, so that, in a post-mortem, society as a whole can reflect on it's current state. It's been a long while since local films have made an attempt to tell a story about the Malaysian societal fabric. Remember all the Yasmin Ahmad films back in the day? Many of the story elements within the film has relevance to Malaysian history; 513 ( May 13th ) and the racially segregated areas that harks back to the New Villages established during the Communist Insurgency; kinda like the Hunger Games setting with the segregated Districts. The film also posits a future where the Federation of Malaysia is no more; with Sabah & Sarawak leaving. Within the film's world, it will be the rich, greedy & corrupt individuals that will take advantage of the situation to profit, to secure their personal interests. While those who were already on the extreme end ( like the Defense Force soldiers ), will exploit the situation just to harm & kill people not aligned with the law. The ones in the middle will suffer because they just want to live in peace with one another. The entire movie leaves me with the feeling that the future looks bleak for a Malaysia literally segregated according to race. The reality is, we have it very good; due to what our forefathers have built Pre-Merdeka and Post-Merdeka. We just take it for granted, assuming everything is all fine. But there will always be bad extremist actors in society who claim "they are the victim" or "its us against them" in order to say "we are better than them"; and as a result, the supporters who agree will rally around these extremists and their voices will just grow louder. To stop that, Malaysians need to go out and get to know one another. Leave the comfort zone of the insular community bubble and mix with the other races. Only as Malaysians, together, will our society progress to greater heights.
Moral of the story, don’t rely too much on the news or certain social media that incite racial or religious hatred. Remember your neighbour, friends, colleagues, your teachers, your doctors of different races in the real life. Each of us wouldn’t have a heart to inflict any pain towards each other.
You are right. We may be of different faiths and have different skin colour, but we’re all someone’s son or daughter. We’re all Malaysians. Let’s all accept each other, respect each other, support each other. Unity in diversity.
I applaud the film makers for taking the route of "crowd funding", by-passing Malaysian Censorship Board in order to stay true to the storyline they wish to portray. Also, appreciate its decision to allow re-use under Creative Common Attribution license, so that it could be shared quickly & widely. I hope this film & Kuman Pictures team continue to garner momentum & receive international acclaim. The script, nuances, attention to detail to portray Malaysian idiosyncrasies are commendable. In my humble opinion, this film should be made mandatory viewing for all Malaysian school children (eg. as part of Civics curriculum). Regardless of race, religion or ethnicity, there is a decent human spirit within all of us, and we need to be reminded of the importance of "Muhibah" & kindness. I look forward to more amazing films from Kuman Pictures & you have deservingly earned my TH-cam subscription. Terima Kasih!!! P/S: Love new phrase learned from film "Take Kena, Tak Cinta".
This movie deserve an oscar. As an audience, I can feel the horror living under military power. Racism issue + draconian military rule wrapped with good storyline, acting, cinematic ❤ Bravo!
As a pendatang myself (bangsa lain lain), I could never envision this to really happen in Malaysia. We live peacefully in seperate cultures, but as we have seen around the world, peace should never be taken for granted. Well done for reminding us to be on guard, social media for example, does have a tendency to make a traffic accident into a potential racial clash.

Best Malaysian film of 2023. An eye and mind opening experience. I love the father's character arc and his ending was gutwrenching. And truck driver auntie too. I cried when she asked Raifa's name. The message is simple, segregation makes it simple for the rulers to control us. It's not about malay vs chinese, or propaganda who's more racist. It's the rulers who desperately trying to keep us apart. I don't get how the racist and naysayers thinks this film is an anti-constitution and anti-malay propaganda. btw, i would LOVE to see part 2 from the POVs of the Malays and Indians, and they too suffered under their oppressive rulers. Congratulations, KUMAN pictures.
I don't see why this film need a sequel. It's already fulfilled the morals behind the narrative and job well done. Need of sequel if you look into it from entertainment views.
SPOILER ALERT! not even halfway through this movie and its a 10/10 for me. some close minded ****** are bursting their nerves and jumping into conclusions without making an effort to understand what this beautiful film is about. but then again simple minds can’t understand art. the scene where yan was looking through pictures of her and her friends almost made me tear up.

Tapi sebenarnya cerita ini bukan tentang sejarah Malaysia. Alhamdulillah setakat ini walaupun bukan sepenuhnya bersatu, tapi Malaysian tetap Malaysian. Kami bergdauh, kami berbaik sama seperti layaknya adik beradik.
Wah we finally get a dystopian Malaysian movie and I am loving it. The story, production, cinematography is really good. Also, a very good reminder to never let racism win.
This is an absolutely great movie! It just shows, at the end, nobody wins and everybody loses if we carry on like this. Kudos to the team and everyone who contributed.
Hello, everyone. I was raised in Singapore, by an adopted Malay family. My biological parent is a Eurasian. My mother is Indian- English and my father Is Chinese- Irish. I remember the civil war in Malaysia and Singapore. It really saddened me to know that my people are killing each other. Now I live in the USA, and I am an American citizen. I would love to bring my family to Singapore and Malaysia, to show them how proud I am of Chinese and Malay culture. I hope that my dream will come true soon. Love, from the USA.
It's actually a patriotic film and should be seen with an open mind. This film will surely be and should be on the next Oscar's nomination list. I like the part where Sabah and Sarawak left Malaysia. Every Malaysian always talk about the country's potential and what it should and could have been. This movie is a testament to the talent of the Malaysian people. Congratulations and well done!
It is such a shame this family is bullied by their own people. And the evil of all things is greed for money, the strong bullying the weak. Although racism is poison to humanity, the story tells us that kindness among people still exists. I hope we do not have to witness this day in the future. We are all made by the same Creator, hence, every one should be treated equally; men, women and children. This movie is really an eye opener. It shows one does not need a blockbuster budget to make a good movie, just a wonderful script and a good director. Thank you.
We should be sad coz it's happening in reality, just the movie exaggerated it Take a look when you can see both Cina can even scam, fight with each other in public, their gangsters only dare to bully the weak Cina who failed to give 'protection fee' but they will never lay a hand on other ethnics, but unless you're rich...the Cina will all kowtow to you even when you're infamous All these reflections are what inspired the film if we tend to ignore racism issues and keep staying in our comfort zone, staying with the same ethnic circle (semangat assabiah)

the ending has such a strong message there many should ponder upon. It's an endless cycle of racism. One person protecting the other while another despise.
Yes the ending msg is very strong where the Malay child quickly stood in front of the Chinese child to protect her now (as she protected her earlier fr being shot). Children are Colour Blind, but adults teach them otherwise.
I'm sorry I didn't understand the ending that much. Did they met the Indian guy(meaning they wrongly enter Indian territory) or Malay guy(meaning they enter it right but it just a cycle of hatred as you say)?
It’s been a while since the late Yasmin Ahmad’s movie… This movie is so impressive, I love it! So many subtle message n deep meaning. That ending is powerful, simply to show the never ending cycle of racism. Thank you for putting it as free movie for all. Definitely an award winning movie! A MUST watch!
recommended this film,it tells the realities that make Malaysia broken now, namely corruption and strong politics until the Malaysian currency falls. Then the mind and ideology of the nation is collapsing due to political poison in many ways.Malay for Malay,Chinese for Chinese and Indian for Indian. So this movie teaches us the value of all nations and the sacrifices and goodness of all nations. This movie also shows harmony if corrupt politics is not in life. Maybe all of we must stop undi in pilihan Raya, sebab politik semua tk boleh pakai sekarang.

Very good movie. Well done to Malaysians. This movie is a reminder to stay strong together and not let racism divide the country. This goes as a reminder to every country as well.
This movie is really touching. I hope more Malaysians will watch it. Those of you who have watched, please spread this movie to your friends and families. The movie could be our potential future if extremists are allowed to separate us further. The racist remarks and actions are already here today. Please don't let it get worse. We need to protect our unity at all cost. Kuman Pictures, you did such a great job with telling the story. Kudos to you all. Please produce more meaningful movies like this to bring all Malaysian together.
Mungkin boleh dinobat dlm Malaysia Book of Records sebagai filem tempatan pertama yg tak ditayang kat mana-mana panggung (local atau oversea), tapi dimuat secara percuma atas TH-cam utk tatapan semua. Kos pembikinan filem tak dpt balik at least ada recognition pun ok...😊
It is supposedly Malaysia's 1st crowdfunded movie. If u ask me, those movies made using government fundings/ grants are ceowdfunded too. It is the rakyat's money. Just not given directly to the movie makers. Lol 😂
"Children Are Colour Blind" , meaningful to see children protecting one another in the beginning and at the end. PENDATANG applied to both sides. A great movie by the team and much for Malaysians to learn and not be misled by corrupted and fanatics MPs. Hope there is a part 2 that brings Hope esp for children and young people. Malaysia deserves better!! The 222 MPs and all Aduns in each state should view Pendatang and have a good reflection on themselves. "Remember the tax Payers in Malaysia paid for your power and comfort!! Multiple pensions....
Watched when it first came out. It touched me deeply & hope all Malaysians will watch & appreciate the message. We are so much stronger together than against each other. I applauded Kuman for going the crowdfunding route to ensure no censorship & interference.
Extremely emotional, that's the only way I can describe this film. The fact that a simple thing such as the colour of our skin, or the language that we speak, can be a divider seems so remedial. I love this country, I love all my Malaysians. Thank you for making this, and may we leave racial politics in the dust, where it belongs. Kita semua anak Malaysia.
Hi, This is Astro AEC, a Chinese news TV channel. We are recently planning on a news topic to discuss about this film, and the message it brings up to the public.
Kudos the all behind this film. I'm from the Philippines and while will not understand 100% the racial dynamics of Malaysia, I was moved by the film since the message is a universal one. We must always be vigilant of forces trying to divide us!
watching it from an outsider's perspective, I love how this movie is uncensored and uncut to shield anybody's feelings and criticism. I live in the US but Malaysia is one of the places I've wanted to visit and would love to know more history of the place and this movie helped start that. Now i'll have to research some history and learn more about the culture
Tahniah!
Tengok sebab banyak komen cerita ni racist, lepas tengok tak nampak apa2 racist pun. Best, cerita family. Keluarga Wong ni typical keluarga malaysia tak kira melayu, cina, india.
X racist? Yg di kejar cari pendatang mcm nak bunuh org tu knp ? Kalau dulu zaman nenek moyang kaum2 lain jika bangsa Melayu buat mcm tu rasanya xda dah keturunan baru cina rini yg rakyat Malaysia.. btw bgus susunan watak dlm filem ni ye, watak pendatang tu bangsa Melayu ye.. cerita ni x ikut sejarah yang betul..x rasa ke filem ni buat bangsa Melayu marah? Xda hormat dah ye...dulu masa nenek moyang you nak duduk Malaysia elok je depa merayu..elok shj Bangsa Melayu iktiraf mereka dalam katogori Kaum2 lain.. xda kena halau macam rohingya rini..
The best film by Malaysian ever. This is a great lesson to all when we are being separated apart from each other. Great lessons learned where the bullies are everywhere even from your own race. This is why people from other countries are envious of our multicultural yet colourful races living together as one nation. Don't ever let this story affect you, it should be a great opener of all people's eyes and ears, not only for Malaysia, but for the whole world to learn from.
#Pendatang Pendatang is a breath of fresh air from the typical 'Malaysian style' movies. We need more of these sort of movies which could provoke thought. Highly recommended, & I can now say "Malaysia movies pun as good as our neighbours." Hope to see more thought provoking movies like these.
One of the most breathtaking movies I have ever watched ❤ All love from Egypt 💚 Any multicultural country like Malaysia or Egypt will unfortunately struggle with racism...but Sane, brave, kind hearted and people with conscience everywhere do their best to stop it ❤
To the wonderful and amazing team behind this film, you guys did an amazing job. Not once I considered any of your technicals to be a bother because of how much you've invested in the story building. It's an astounding work, and a work that I consider, in my own opinion, one of the all time Malaysian Films. Continue your efforts. This is a film that truly Malaysia needs.
A well made movie. Subtle message for all Malaysians. Kudos to all involved in the making of this movie. Thanks for making it possible for us to view this from our homes. Please send this movie to the International film festivals.
Kita semua manusia yg sama saja. Sepatutnya hentikan racism. Take care of ourselves, the ppl we love and help others if we have the capability. By the way, i actually hope the ending is malay, chinese and indian live happily together as family 😊
Extraordinary film which is made even more poignant by the circumstances behind its production. These issues can't be ignored in Malaysia or any other society, and Pendatang shows exactly why. Systemic distrust, unaddressed racial tensions, and hyper-identity politics can be dangerously inflamed by seemingly small events like a match in a tinderbox. Aside from the salience of the film's themes, it's a beautiful yet sad experience. Thank you for making this film available for free, and hopefully such things won't be so hard to produce and screen in the future.
I read about this film online and immediately came here to see it. Congratulations to the team who made this film. I enjoyed it and the cast was excellent. Yes, there were themes of humanity and overcoming racism (based on the dystopian world that was portrayed on racial segregation) but my opinion is that the stronger theme (especially in the second half of the film) was about the fact that the worst evil demons could sometimes be found in your very own group or 'kind', instead of the supposed enemy. Also, there were strong themes of family and honour. The part where Auntie Koo asked for Raifa's name got me. The ending was also somewhat bleak but fitting for that dystopian world.
PART 1 SHOULD RELEASE IN TH-cam SO THAT EVERYONE CAN WATCH IT, PART 2 OR SO ON PLS MAKE IT INTO CINEMA. THIS FILM DESERVE AWARD. WE ARE 1 , WE ARE MALAYSIAN!
Biar anak muda sekarang tahu dan rasa betapa susah nya orang dahulu nak menjaga tanah air ni.minta tolong sangat2 buat la cerita2 sejarah macam tu berdasarkan kisah benar. Zaman komunis. Zaman portugis . Macam mana susah hidup mereka masa tu. Betapa perit.sehinggalah mereka bangkit melawan penjajah bermati matian.minta tolong sangat2 KUMAN buat cerita2 mcm tu. Mohon kuman buat cerita2 tentang sejarah2 pahlawan melayu dulu mempertahankan tanah air .
Saya rasa perlu crowdfund citer ni. Buat sequel ke, web series ke. Lakonan ok, pacing pun ok. But the story must continue. Kudos guys! Good effort. I watched till the end
amazing job guys!! We need more local movies like these to instill the realization that we have been relying on each race even to the tiniest details. It should be a privlidge to be born and raise in a multiracial country. We get to eat pure indian kari, shouts our yee sang, eat ketupt rendang then go sabah sawak eat those ulat pokok. Teach your younger gen to cherish this and never take advantage of it ❤❤❤
Thank you, to Kuman Pictures, the writer, Lim Boon Siang, cast, crew and funders for this feature film. 95 minutes of non-stop thrilling and dramatic tension.
If the politikus continue to play the racist card, this might happens in very near future in our beloved motherland. Thanks to the team for producing such a haunting but strangely beautiful film where love and humanity prevails in difficult time.
Ur motherland ??😂😂 Ur motherland at china,im not racist i speak fact, maybe u r 4 generation of ur community and forget about ur community history why u still here
Excellent movie. Great storyline. Meaningful messages. So much to reflect upon. We can see the repercussion of not voting wisely. A different government does not mean a better one, if old traditions are not eliminated. Bribery and greed still rule over everything else, no matter how much talk there is about unity and harmony. Family values play an important role no matter what race you come from, as we are all humans. Congrats Kuman, and bravo to all actors and actresses. Beautiful acting❤
Kudos to the team. I believe what this movie trying to bring up is, this situation happens on any soil of this earth as long as corrupted politicians continue to blatantly lie through their nose and people choose to believe blindly until they face the ugly truth. We, the people should wake up to their lies.
Im from Philipines in the sounthern part of mindanao. My province use to be called Compostela Valley but it was recently change to Davao de Oro. This movie was frickin GENIUS🙌🙌🙌 As malaysian, so proud of our local movie making talent. Really hope there's sequel🙌 that tell us other area part from malay and indians
It is nerve wrecking and left profound message for us Malaysian. Hopefully it will reach many more of our kind. If we only look beyond our skin color and start looking at each other FIRST as human.
A decent movie with good overall acting by the entire cast. Some of the casual racism in Malaysia is subtly shown; those who know, understand. I just wish that instead of furniture, the factory produced something more essential to life. It's hard to suspend belief that people are willing to kill each other for furnitures. There is room to expand the story further, perhaps by showing the perspective of Malays and Indians living in segregation in the same timeline and how they help the girls to survive.
The casual racism is what makes it very relatable to Malaysians, we all know what it looks or sounds like. I agree with the furniture, I felt food or medicine would've been more valuable. Perhaps if I have to backwards rationalise that I'd imagine maybe many families were forced to leave their original homes suddenly without their furniture - also probably using furniture to seludup humans makes it more convenient to progress the story. As usual Malaysian movies are always great at setting up a story but still have this strange issue of being unable to manoeuvre over the tension arc in a believable manner. Immersion was gone for me whenever someone is killed but the reactions were barely fearful, remorseful or even angry. I know I'd be damn well scared for my life seeing someone shot dead. I was wondering about the Indians the whole time, but I don't think they'd have enough screen time (or budget) to show everyone else and flesh them out fairly. Like the short scene of the Indians, it felt very token-ish. To do that it'd have to be a dystopian series like Last of Us or Walking Dead. I think they ended where they needed to, we don't need to see how the girls survive as that was the point of the story - uncertainty, fear, segregation, oppression, and questioning humanity.
I think, the furniture business owner in the film is to represent the rich business people with no moral compass exploiting the situation so as to protect their own personal interests.
Just watched this movie after so many friend of mine recommended. Things will happen as what been shown inside the movie if the situation / condition of environment change as per what the movie conveyed. But I truly believe it won’t be happen in Malaysia nowadays. I am proud to be a Malaysian, a country with multi races and multi cultures where you can’t find it anywhere else out of this beautiful country. Lastly, great job and well done to the production and producer team, you guys made a great movie with meaningful and show it to the whole world. Keep it up and best wishes👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Horror movie of the decade - it deeply unsettled me because it's entirely plausible! Once in a decade, we are graced with a dystopian masterpiece like 'Children of Men' or 'District 8'. I am incredibly touched and grateful that a masterpiece from Malaysia, of the same vein, graces my screen. Thank you for such an incredibly well-written and acted movie. It's amazing that it's independently made and crowd-funded!
What an emotional movie, can’t hold my tears, the movie speak out the message to not let dirty politics to divide the people, I hope it will be awarded by the Malaysian government
When on curfew area, no place to go, no work, no money, no foods. This how the curfew work. Government already no more, that's why break to races curfew area, borneo already pull out, ringgit value drop become not much value, inflation going up.

Thank you to all those who contributed to the cost to enable us to watch it for free and Thank you to Kuman for producing this movie as a good reminder to us Malaysians. The plot is "food for thought" as it can happen in the future , a very scary future if we continue to vote for those politicians who use race n religion to divide n manipulate us the rakyat..we the rakyat need to take action to reject racist politicians ..
Beautifully done movie with key messages sent across clear as day. Fantastic storyline, award-worthy cinematography, great pace too! there's breathing room in between moving scenes that I appreciate. Thank you for creating this wonderful piece.
Actually it's the best movie i watch this year. Surprisingly the acting, colors and the set are top notch. The main reasons it able to draw us into the movie is because it touches on our fears, which might turn true to some extend, if we are careless.
We need more movies like this to show to the people in Malaysia, just how fragile and vital it is for us all to live in harmony with one another. We must not allow politics and extremism be it using religion, race, social class nor economy to break us apart and create the animosity that seems to grow and fester each passing day.
we need more Malaysian films on TH-cam, period!

For Malays-Apa khabar
For Chinese-你好嗎
For Indians-Namastē
For Iban people-Nama brita nuan

This movie portrays the Chinese as militant gangsters that can be provocative as the little Malay girl like a toyol stealing milk and later befriending the Chinese family and the two Indians as fishing with spears totally disconnected from the Chinese gangsterism scenario except for the Keling guy seemed involved in trafficking with the Chinese gangsters.

Good job for the producer, director, actor and all the crew for this good movie! It's such a bless that we can watch it free on TH-cam.
Salam knal ka
Mantap cerita ni! Harapnya ada sambungan dan prekuel😁
Natijah saya:
Bravo!!
saya suka analisa dan hujah tuan!
Terima kasih untuk tulisan ini!
Hope's all the Malaysian capture this beyond their hearts which is thy soul's.
God always send messages thru many ways and I believe this is one of it.
akhirnya ....kita rakyat Malaysia dpt menikmati naskhah filem berkhasiat dari pembikin film Malaysia...syabaa

Suka dgn cerita Malaysia yg berkualiti sebegini. Mak penuh dgn sifat keibuan, baik hati, penyanyang dan ingin melindungi anak2nya. Ayah sorang yg tegas, selalu pentingkan keselamatan keluarga. Anak pulak di didik dgn kasih syg, hormat satu sama lain. Tp ending macam tergantung sikit. Kalau ending mereka teruskan kehidupan sampai dewasa. Pasti mantap. @@cjshow-zp6nh Semua orang Pendatang even Orang Asli.

😢😢

Thank you.
We should be sad coz it's happening in reality, just the movie exaggerated it
Take a look when you can see both Cina can even scam, fight with each other in public, their gangsters only dare to bully the weak Cina who failed to give 'protection fee' but they will never lay a hand on other ethnics, but unless you're rich...the Cina will all kowtow to you even when you're infamous
All these reflections are what inspired the film if we tend to ignore racism issues and keep staying in our comfort zone, staying with the same ethnic circle (semangat assabiah)
The whole semenanjung will be full of lawlessness if we don't stop racial politics

Tengok sebab banyak komen cerita ni racist, lepas tengok tak nampak apa2 racist pun. Best, cerita family. Keluarga Wong ni typical keluarga malaysia tak kira melayu, cina, india.
X racist? Yg di kejar cari pendatang mcm nak bunuh org tu knp ? Kalau dulu zaman nenek moyang kaum2 lain jika bangsa Melayu buat mcm tu rasanya xda dah keturunan baru cina rini yg rakyat Malaysia.. btw bgus susunan watak dlm filem ni ye, watak pendatang tu bangsa Melayu ye.. cerita ni x ikut sejarah yang betul..x rasa ke filem ni buat bangsa Melayu marah? Xda hormat dah ye...dulu masa nenek moyang you nak duduk Malaysia elok je depa merayu..elok shj Bangsa Melayu iktiraf mereka dalam katogori Kaum2 lain.. xda kena halau macam rohingya rini..
Biasalah walaun. 😂😂😂
kita nak tengok sebab ada 2 benda = "pendatang" and "Org CIna" so all expected cina dah bertaubat dan akhirnya secara rasmi kata ye kita pendatang ...
Yg ckp rasis tu, mereka la yg rasis sgt
2×5 jer kalau nk diikutkan..
Wajib ada Pendatang 2. Come on people let's help Kuman Pictures to produce more quality movies.
😮
@@kumanpictures2803please do part 2… we need more movie like this.. please🙏
I am one who often has difficulty to find a movie from Netflix to watch, never expect this free movie from TH-cam can be so touching and good!
Thank you! ❤
❤
#Pendatang
Pendatang is a breath of fresh air from the typical 'Malaysian style' movies. We need more of these sort of movies which could provoke thought. Highly recommended, & I can now say "Malaysia movies pun as good as our neighbours." Hope to see more thought provoking movies like these.
thank you!
One of the most breathtaking movies I have ever watched ❤
All love from Egypt 💚
Any multicultural country like Malaysia or Egypt will unfortunately struggle with racism...but Sane, brave, kind hearted and people with conscience everywhere do their best to stop it ❤
The opening scenes inside the Malay house was one of the best visual aesthetic I've seen for a long time. It's mesmerising and beautiful!
❤
I truly feel that this is one of the best Malaysian film ever produced and showed us what racism can do to everyone’s livelihood.
thank you!
Thank you! ❤🇲🇾
Thank you! 😍
The ending was also somewhat bleak but fitting for that dystopian world.
thank you!
l dont get the whole story of this movie

PART 1 SHOULD RELEASE IN TH-cam SO THAT EVERYONE CAN WATCH IT, PART 2 OR SO ON PLS MAKE IT INTO CINEMA. THIS FILM DESERVE AWARD. WE ARE 1 , WE ARE MALAYSIAN!

Biar anak muda sekarang tahu dan rasa betapa susah nya orang dahulu nak menjaga tanah air ni.minta tolong sangat2 buat la cerita2 sejarah macam tu berdasarkan kisah benar. Zaman komunis. Zaman portugis . Macam mana susah hidup mereka masa tu. Betapa perit.sehinggalah mereka bangkit melawan penjajah bermati matian.minta tolong sangat2 KUMAN buat cerita2 mcm tu. Mohon kuman buat cerita2 tentang sejarah2 pahlawan melayu dulu mempertahankan tanah air .
Saya rasa perlu crowdfund citer ni. Buat sequel ke, web series ke. Lakonan ok, pacing pun ok. But the story must continue. Kudos guys! Good effort. I watched till the end
They can make parts like bridgerton. Back Stories of other characters etc. maybe the situation on the other side.
The ending is pretty weird. Also, WTH the father left the truck?
No ending. Left hanging@@leealex24
Standing by for movie starts in 20 mins ❤ Thank you Producers
amazing job guys!! Teach your younger gen to cherish this and never take advantage of it ❤❤❤
❤🇲🇾
❤🇲🇾
Thank you! ❤
Such a beautifully made movie, kudos to the entire team. It’s for us malaysians to remember the importance of racial harmony.

This movie was frickin GENIUS🙌🙌🙌 As malaysian, so proud of our local movie making talent. Really hope there's sequel🙌 that tell us other area part from malay and indians
Thank you! 😍
@@wonderfulfable wonderful point, just like your username
Wow. This was just wow.
furniture is cabinet
Just watched this movie after so many friend of mine recommended. Things will happen as what been shown inside the movie if the situation / condition of environment change as per what the movie conveyed. But I truly believe it won’t be happen in Malaysia nowadays. I am proud to be a Malaysian, a country with multi races and multi cultures where you can’t find it anywhere else out of this beautiful country. Lastly, great job and well done to the production and producer team, you guys made a great movie with meaningful and show it to the whole world. Keep it up and best wishes👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Congrats on the film. It's such an important story to be told. Every Malaysian needs to see this ❤🇲🇾

Thank you for your kind words!
What an emotional movie, can’t hold my tears, the movie speak out the message to not let dirty politics to divide the people, I hope it will be awarded by the Malaysian government
our award is knowing people are watching it :)
You can tell it's a real Malaysian factory when the workers come back to continue working the day after the boss gets killed
Spot on hahhaahaa
ah yes! that's the spirit bro

When on curfew area, no place to go, no work, no money, no foods. This how the curfew work. Government already no more, that's why break to races curfew area, borneo already pull out, ringgit value drop become not much value, inflation going up.
because it is a chinese boss - profits above all else.

Filem baik.
Thank you. That was an edge of the seat movie ... Congrats to the cast and crew and all who sponsored it. Loved the feeling of watching it with everyone.
thanks Sharon!
It’s a real shame this movie is not shown in the big screen instead. Thoroughly enjoyed it 🎉
Gather with friends and see on a big screen :)
There’s not a lot of Malaysian dystopian movies, I think it’s nice to explore this genre more in the industry
Dari zaman Jurassic Parak... sampailah sekarang - Kaum A kata Kaum B nak hancurkan dia. Kaum A dan Kaum B kata Kaum C tak boleh percaya. Kaum A, Kaum B, Kaum C tak suka Kaum D, E, F... - kalau kita orang Malaysia ni tak reti nak percaya dan hormat satu sama lain, asyik nak fikir siapa nak kenakan dia, siapa nak hancurkan dia, maksudnya memang kita ni semua tak pernah dan tak akan maju. Last-last jadi macam filem ni suatu hari nanti. Masa tu nanti, memang dah terlambat dah laa... KITA ORANG MALAYSIA, KITA SAMA-SAMA DUDUK MALAYSIA, KITA SAMA-SAMALAH MAJUKAN MALAYSIA, KITA SEMUA SAYANG MALAYSIA... TAK ADA 'PENDATANG' - KECUALI PENDATANG HARAM / PATI... #Malaysia #Negaraku / #Negaraku #Malaysia
PATI pun mangsa eksploitasi.
@@kumanpictures2803betul tp itu dah jadi masalah antarabangsa pulak, takkan kita pula yg nak perjuang org asing? yea kita boleh ambil pelarian perang, kita boleh tolong tp bukan yg saja2 masuk secara haram (sedangkan negara mereka aman damai je) Ambil cth org negara I, masuk negata secara haram, benci penduduk tempatan, bawa duit kita keluar banyak2, itu mereka yg explotasi kita 😂
Simple, straightforward and no -frills movie but it says a lot. Really worth watching

This film would win award if got nominated in any competition, brilliant and kudos to the director and production team
Nomination? Yes. Award? No, due to a lot of plot holes. Nonetheless, it's still one of the best Malaysian films.

It’s a solid 9,5/10 from me. This movie truly moved me to my very core. I have nothing but the most respect and adoration for everyone who has made this movie possible, kalian keren! I would watch it in a heartbeat.

Loving this movie, the script is good, entertaining and the storyline is also great. At early of the movies i could feel how bad it's going to be if we Malaysians keep on picking up racism issue. Thank you for bringing us to this view and I appreciate your work.

A great movie . Enjoyed it alot.
Thank you!

The main reasons it able to draw us into the movie is because it touches on our fears, which might turn true to some extend, if we are careless.
thank you!
