It was thrown at me. I originally wanted Mass Communications, but that isn't really needed. I'm glad i got this one though. It's only tough if you aren't going into open minded. Give yourself like 3 jobs you really want and 3 you'll be okay with. That's what i did. This wasn't even on the list, but this sounded cool.
The hardest thing for me.... i guess just the constant anxiety about whats going to happen next. Other than that, its cake. For most people, it seemed like most people had a hard time being away from family. & I'm a CTT!
You're welcome. Boot camp can actually be pretty fun if you get the right RDC's. I made some good friends in boot camp. I'm in A School until june and then ill be going out to the fleet.
Yeah, a few people. Its seems like the ones that went to medical for "injuries" were the ones trying to get out of PT and such. Other than those few, people really never got injured. The workouts really aren't that bad. But yeah, You'll definitely get asmo'd if you get injured long enough and discharged if its something super serious.
Actually, we do get weapons training. We get pistol qualed in bootcamp. The swimming is hardly training. They just make sure we know how to swim. Everything I've done is pretty much what I expected. Most of our training deals with ship life and knowing traditions, rate and rank, those type of things. I'll only be on ships that carry marine to where they need to go.
Yeah, you do a probe float which is basically floating on top of the water with your face down. Then I think we had to tread water for a while. Then, you swim the length of the pool.
I can't say for sure yet. I have only been to a training command, so i havent actually done my job in the fleet yet. Based on what i've done so far, probably. I dont know that i would make it a career but time will tell. I never really had huge expectations, i was ready for whatever!
In boot camp, no there was no hook ups, because then someone would care. lol. They either came out to me or i just knew. I never really asked. I tried not to assume things. I never really told anyone either because you do have to shower with them and that would just make people uncomfortable and all that.
Basically, just do a bunch of sit-ups and push-ups. If you can get 50 of each, that would be ideal and set you really good compared to most. Run a lot. Try to get to 2 miles a few times a week and you should be set. Don't do the minimum now, push yourself. It will just make it that much easier when you get in there! A lot of people are like "ill worry about it when i get there" but you'll have plenty of other things to worry about! haha Good luck!
Yeah, the only night you don't sleep is the night you get there. Other than that, youll get sleep and the meps medical the second time is just blood, urine, and some other crap. nothing like the first one and a lot quicker. No duck walk or anything. At least that's how it was for me.
I'm not sure "easy" is the word I would use to describe boot camp, but it's definitely less difficult than being poor or raising a family (or worse, both at once).
Do a lot of people get injured at bootcamp. If so is there a way to avoid it bc I heard u should try to avoid medical as much as possible so u dont get asmod or discharged
What particular M.O.S. (job/ rate) do you have? Mine is Machinist Mate (surface). They said after 2 years that I can cross-rate into either Aviation Machinist Mate or Nuclear if I qualify for either.
I got everything i expected training wise, and as for the yelling and such, the only reason it was as easy for me was because we had abnormally nice RDC's. (Drill instructors) Which at the time was nice but in the end it didnt really help anything. They kind of just pushed us through. Sometimes i do wish i would've joined another branch. But then i don't, i like the navy, people aren't such assholes here. lol
Maybe I should've just made a new video. Or did a live thing. Lol.. But yeah, you run a lot. It's 12 laps to make a mile and a half so that part sucks. You get your nwu's about 2nd week.
They give you plenty of time to study, you just gotta utilize it. and inspections are pretty easy.
I did. I passed the dep-in test and the first pfa. Only other way is to be really good at whatever job you volunteer for and get promoted.

This video changed my life. Encore! Encore!

Yeah, that's why it's 12 laps. And you march a lot outside.

like every other day. its not too long. like by the end we were doing a 25 minute sustained run.

Yeah, you get paid during. You would have to put them on automatic, or have someone do it for you.
So easy! Its actually kind of rediculous how easy it is.
Yes. I went bald and then still went over it and messed up my skin.
Yes they have a salad bar.
No duck walk, lol, just the eyes/hearing/teeth and shots. Have fun with the penicillin shot!
Thank you, it just took I while to get it uploaded.

I am a CTT. Can't really talk a lot about it, but yes after 2 years you can switch rates.
Nothing really. I knew what i was in for. Maybe i should've studied the ships and aircraft more, but that's about it.
Do u ever go outside at all during bootcamp like for marching or is EVERYTHING indoors
Only if you graduate right before christmas holiday. other than that, no.
Thanks for the video
I honestly can't remember. I think maybe like 800 or so. And I'm an E2.
What particular M.O.S. (job/ rate) do you have? Mine is Machinist Mate (surface). They said after 2 years that I can cross-rate into either Aviation Machinist Mate or Nuclear if I qualify for either.
I am a CTT in a school in Pensacola Florida.
