I remember listening to Fred Winston on 1360 KRUX in Phoenix, AZ before he hit the big time in the windy city. He was a very witty and professional jock. Thanks for posting this blast from the past.
John Stevens, I live 1 mile from the building in Glendale that used to house the studios of KRUX. The transmitter is still there, now 50,000 watts by day. A couple of times, I've pulled in to just feel the KRUX vibe, which is also still there.
Grew up downstate Illinois listening to Fred, Bob, Little Tommy, Larry..... very important part of my life.
Me too...all of the above!

Fred, Larry Lujack and John "records" Landecker, the cream-of-the-crop at WLS and the kings of AM radio in the midwest back in the 60s and 70s!
WLS - Winston, Landecker & Sirott. Best lineup ever in my opinion.
And let's not forget "Super Jock" Larry Lujack!
This is radio GOLD!!!
I didn’t want this to end!
grew up on this! listening from my home on Comly Road in Winnebago, IL (west of Rockford) or on the school bus in mornings!
Grew up in northwest Indiana and remember his voice well.
I definitely remember the Certified grocery jingle.
Crowhaven Farm was a great made-for-TV horror flick. Problem was those movies on the 3:30 movie on Channel 7 were cut to shreds for commercials.
Besides Larry Lujack - Fred Winston was also GREAT!!!
I wonder why they can’t have entertaining d j s like this anymore.
Butter is to Last Tango in Paris, as pork and beans are to Blazing Saddles.
