Bill did middays for me when I programmed KBEQ in Kansas City. Total class act, great ratings, helluva guy, and I grew up listening to him on WLS. Was an honor to hire him later.
Bill Bailey was a great jock. I enjoyed listening to him on various stations around the country. He inspired me and many others to become successful Radio personalities. Those were the days when radio was truly great. Unfortunately, nobody at these corporations today understand you must have great content that includes personalities. There’s no magnet on radio anymore. The listeners are not giving a reason to tune in. I can hear my favorite songs from 50 different places AM and FM is not my first choice. If you’re 18 to 34 all you know is Segway radio that is a shame.
When I was 13 YO in 1972 - this aircheck was done. All the hours I was listening to Bill Bailey from NC, I recently saw a photo of Bill Bailey. I had no idea he was African-American. I hope that doesn't sound racist (if it does - get over it). He was THE most rockingest DJs on the air. This period was a GREAT time to be a R&R DJ..!
Although this was a little before my time (I was 4), he had an awesome voice and presentation! It's weird that voiceovers were being done by Tommy Edwards and Bill Price during this period! Great radio!

Bill was one of the best--a friend from St. Louis to Chicago. Great times. RIP Brother!
Great on WWDJ NYC, KSLQ St Louis, WDRQ Detroit, WGVU Grand Rapids. A really nice guy too to speak with. RIP.

I’m his daughter (I’m mixed) and it’s not racist. Glad you enjoyed listening to him over the years. 😊
