This makes it easy to make dope cord progressions but also let's you input your own and it shows the notes highlighted so using this will teach you the cords and you will end up being able to play them your self.
I like to “break” players by testing their esoteric functions, but this one I really have been using as designed. I really like that I can experiment with chord rhythms before committing the changes to a track. One thing, though - when the player is disabled the view of the progression vanishes, and I’d like to see it. It would be a good reference for revoicing chords and writing passing tones.
Every chord progression that you pull out of that plugin will sound good cause it's following the circle of fifths. So this means that every person using it will ultimately be choosing the same chords as you just did, cause just like Reason showed you through color codes which one's to pick, it will also do the same for everyone else.
I honestly can't understand the people who prefer to work with other DAWs either. Most of the DAWs are so terribly cluttered and not the least bit intuitive to use. Reason has stayed true to its principle since its release and that's how it should be!
@@dragonmaster2238 I use Reasons DAW but have also used Abalten lite and MPC Beats both of those are free or included in software and while at first bouth seemed cluttered and hard to use after a while they actually become very useable and I can definitely see why some what to use Abalten over Reason. I would of upgraded to Abalten suite but lite 11 dont work right on My laptop has massive CPU drain issue making it unusable. Reason works perfectly most of the time. Abalten (if it worked right for Me) would definitely be better live and I can use My digital decks with it and not with Reason.
@@dragonmaster2238 I agree and I think I've tested and used almost any DAW there is, from Cubase to Pro Tools, Ableton and even Fruity Loops. I always went back to Reason. Great addition to the players! I just wish that it could be used as a chord substitution tool: when you select a chord you could have all its possible substitutions ordered by how close they are to the initial chord. I've searched online but this kind of VST doesn't really exist and could be hugely helpful to transform a classic chord progression into something more interesting without having to change the melody or other instruments relative to it. Too bad this won't do it.... if anyone knows of a VST or RE that can, please let me know.
Cool video, great new device! But we have an issue here: I have installed the latest version of Ableton 11 and the latest version of Reason 12 on my M1 Mac running Monterey. Both products run great. But I am missing the VST3 plugin in Ableton, it seems I can only access the AU. But the AU does seems to be unable to send Midi to other tracks. trument). It is a pitty that we are not able to use the new Chord Sequencer then...
Set Ableton to run in Rosetta and Reason Rack Plugin will show up. Since it's not M1 native (just yet...) the host needs to run in Rosetta mode. Easiest way to do that is to right-click and choose "Get info" on the Ableton Live app in Finder and there tick "Open using Rosetta"
@@anosoumusic Thank you for pointing me into that direction. But running Ableton in Rosetta mode causes a ton of issues with other plugins - so that seems not like a valide option. no and it sux balls because so many dope plugins are vst3 and reason users are missing out big time , it is lame because they keep coming out with all this other stuff but aint fixing the actual daw... they need to make this a priority ... this is one of the main reasons reason has fallen behind as one of the most popular daws ...it really needs a lot of improvements to catch up to fl and Ableton imo

To the people who think this is "cheating"... 🤦🏾♂️ You don't have to buy it/use it. 🙄 Before computers, you could buy a chord poster/book. Is that cheating as well? Or is one a "hardcore musician" if they turn pages or look at a poster instead of a vst/RE? Do all guitarists have to know the piano to write for their band, and vice versa? Do singers have to know instrumentation for all the players they have in their band, or can they get close enough with this or other plugins for other musicians to figure it out? What if you're hired to write in an unfamiliar microtonal tuning with a short turnaround time for a TV show/commercial? Should one wait until they take a class on microtonal tunings or just get on with it and finish the job with plugins like this? Some people are so short sighted with their thinking that every musician must "suffer" as much as they have before they can make a living... just a bunch of gatekeepers, really 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

What the hell is with the mapping in this thing though? With all of these variations on this idea in the market - I think dumping logical theory and a piano keyboard or not having it as an option to flip to - unless I need to literally read a manual for this... like what is the thinking? Guitar players aren't building Reason i.e. they don't care about notes arrangement on a keyboard. BUT/And any producer needs to still know some relevance back to an instrument IMO or should so when I hit a C right now I am getting a Gbdim which doesn't even have C in it. But, I think this is just a fail to not have this more intuitive in the UI.
Ok nevermind watched another Reason Studios livestream of the design thinking behind it :-) ... The genius is setup a sequence of chords that were intelligently chosen by humans, then what is really fascinating is - sit back with coffee and hit play then toggle through the other chordsets... But, in the other livesteam they gave the example of some composer named D. Grohl and 20 years later he still doesn't know what chord he played in some song named Everlong. LOL. Touche D.G.
