    I’ve been wanting to get into PPG and I build RC planes, helicopters and drones and have worked as a HVAC/r tech for a little over a year so I love the idea of getting a paramotor as a kit, looks super easy for someone like me with some mechanical experience to build but I still would enjoy putting it together.

    At the cost of my pride, it's a durable frame.
    My thoughts: it was great to enter the sport at a notably lower cost with a primo frame that has support. Call and they answer, order and it arrives.
    I want to fly and feel confident in my gear, success 👍🪂👍

    I have been into Mechanical stuff my whole life and I enjoy several motorized vehicles and sports. And just like being a race driver you can understand what and why things do and don't do different things. If you no how they work and how to work on them. I also think it makes you a more safe pilot to understand your machine and its Mechanical workings so you can be much more effective in operating it. I love your video's and I'm wanting to purchase one myself and I think your video gave me a very good incite on what I should do. Thanks man it was awesome..!

      I agree wholeheartedly, and I am just somebody who learned to look at things before taking tools to them. Work out the system, be careful, take your time and you can do more than you thought possible. And the university of TH-cam certainly helps! I watched the Gravity Defiant assembly video and there is nothing there a careful person who is not in a rush cannot do.

    I love how you're able to explain why the Defiant flies so well. It's going to be really hard to learn about electric motors with no one doing comparisons. But one things for sure, there will be much less maintenance required.

  • @AnthonyVella
    @AnthonyVella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I can’t believe I forgot to mention the cost! 🤦🏻‍♂️
    The defiant starts at $5,899. From there, you can add upgrades if you want. Their base unit is fantastic, and better than the upgrades in some ways. For example, the “cheaper” standard hoop section is stronger than their upgraded carbon fiber hoop section.
    I may upgrade my paramotor in the future, but I’m currently really happy with the standard configuration + ACS/DCS.

  • @error.418

    This frame just begs to create some custom spars or custom spar attachments for aerodynamic torque compensation... it's the only thing this setup is missing. The high tension, smartly knotted net is perfect. The hoop segments and their shaping are perfect. The full 5 gallon capacity integrated tank is perfect. The ACS/DCS is so innovative and perfect. Gravity really knocked this one out of the park... save for the torque compensation which is still lagging behind a bit. And that's a tiny nit, since that's most frames. Only SCOUT and Nirvana have done anything about this, with SCOUT kinda being the top of the peak. But as SCOUT said on your podcast, you're really only seeing the strongest benefit from it on your smaller and higher performance wings, with EN-A/B wings only getting partial improvements. So this is a tiny thing, but something I'd love to see.

    Anthony, another very useful video on the Gravity, Thanks I am curious since the fact that the main qty of fuel is higher up the back if the weight balance is noticeable compared to the Parajet which I have flowen? Also, since the fuel tank is V shaped and has way less fuel nearer the bottom compared to the linear Parajet tank, do you notice or get caught off guard when the fuel is low and apparently runs out faster? My local supplier has me on a list to buy one ASAP. Can't wait.

    • @AnthonyVella
      @AnthonyVella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as feeling on the ground goes, having weight positioned higher on the back is definitely a better thing. In the Army, your taught to put heavy items up top. Being that the Defiants tank is narrower, it has a slight advantage in the air, as far as aerodynamics go. And no, I don’t notice an issue with being able to monitor my fuel. I can see it clearly on the defiant.

    How did the patent they DFS when the Adventure Pluma already used the same method? Prior art.. Concerning weight, they should really consider adding a kidney belt to take the weight on your hips. That's what I did on my homemade harness and I can balance the weight of my paramotor between hips and shoulders, or even go 100% to the hips.

      The Defiant I tried had the Apco SLT. The Defiant seemed more comfortable in the air with that harness than the Maverick. It also had the non ACS arms and the space between the arms is much larger (than the Maverick) which I liked. The Defiant does feel a touch heavier on the ground.

    • @AnthonyVella
      @AnthonyVella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people self train. Others feel they need instruction. 10 minutes paragliding doesn’t seem like it’d be enough to suggest you’d be much better off than someone with no experience. That said, there are people who never received formal instruction that are great paramotor pilots today. It really depends on the individual and their approach to learning. I wouldn’t be so bold to suggest to someone that they’ll be ok though, you know what I mean? I’d hate for someone to get hurt because they felt as though I told them they’d be ok.

    Update.. a base model is about $7,000 and thats before shipping or any upgrades like a swing arm.. sooo... it doesn't matter.. these are just free units getting handed out to pretend its somehow cheaper and stuff.. jsut get a fresh breeze so you know you're getting german engineering, and a full scale workforce to help you. What happens when this company doesn't exist in 10 years or doesn't service your unit? Hmm fresh breeze ALWAYS has your back, and their units are the absolute safest on the market with components like emergency disconnects in case something crazy happens like the engine catches fire somehow. features you wont find with anyone else. oh yeah.. its cheaper. cheers. or build an electric for about $3k yourself with a 1.5-2hr flight time using a tesla power module. cheers.

    Anthony,
    Why is the defy way more expensive than the defiant? Even having professional put the defiant together costs 400, the defy is almost 2k more, why is this? They both are same except fuel tank with the defy tank being less desirable. I asked gravity with no response.
    I trust your opinion on this.

    • @AnthonyVella
      @AnthonyVella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Poppy,
      I really appreciate getting this question. I’ll start by saying that I hadn’t always cared about Gravity Paramotors. I’d heard of the Defy, but didn’t put much thought into it. The price that it sold for was/is a price similar to all of the others (around 8-9k).
      The Defiant sells for less. Why? Because it costs less to make. A lot less. There isn’t nearly the same quantity of expensive CNC’d parts. Gravity had an opportunity to sell the new and improved Defiant for more, but the ingenuity behind the cost saving design has instead made the sport more accessible (without compromise to the paramotor).
      Also, shipping costs less when they can move the product in several smaller and lighter packages. And as you’re aware, they’re not assembling the units. The owner or dealer is.
      The answer to your question is “the design”.

That’s why I like to make videos on it. To find the price for the Gravity Paramotor that might interest you, it’s as easy as going to their website and checking out the option.
