Hi James . soil type can determine root depth but generally they wont go much than 18 inches on average, when not watered proper this can affect root depth. thanks for watching.. Johnyboy
Just what I'm looking for, thanks the upload! I did the same with some laurel about 8 yrs back and their about 12 ft ish high now, luv them but their roots are really long and I fear helping to unsettle my paving! I'd like to use Red Robin now to help with privacy by a fence, I do know they can grow profusely but as the roots are much more shallow I'm hoping they're just right. How long before a 2 or 3 plants start to look hedge-like pls? I'm also thinking of putting them in a root control bag to help with not interferring with the fence. Many tks!
Would have loved to see how the hedge looked a few months later and also the time frame for when the hedge actually become a hedge, thanks
