@Nathan B You automatically go to the extreme of "robbing your kids?" Did you get nothing else from this short interview? How about the anecdote about how her father won't even let her pay for his birthday dinner? Did you fall asleep for that part? How about the anecdote about how they wouldn't even let her pay them back for acting classes? Doesn't ring a bell? You hear horror stories of parents that extort their children and are in complete control of their finances and literally steal from them. It seems this was the complete opposite. When you're dirt poor and are immigrants in a new country and English isn't your second language, it would be more than fair for the parents to ask the child for a little financial help. This is especially true if your parents risked their entire savings to enroll you in an acting class they clearly could not afford. This is especially true if your mom sacrificed her time and energy driving you around auditioning for roles and taking classes.
Clearly you're not uninformed. Everything you needed to learn about her life was summed up pretty succinctly in this short interview. Either you have trouble with comprehending dialogue or you're just a naturally negative person who automatically sees the extreme side of things. I'm going to guess the latter. I mean let's just look at this in context. You are replying to a comment that literally only said "what amazing parents." Oh, perhaps a third possibility is that you had horrible parents that did you wrong financially. In that case, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope you can get some psychological help.

My dad spent $3500 on my first Yamaha piano when I later found out they only had $5000, and he spent only $1000 on his car because most of the money went to my piano. You went a tad too far there. Parents should indeed support their children, but they should never abandon their own lives.
Sorry but that's an absolute stupid philosophy to live by. The most important thing in anyones life, is oneself, there is no question about that. You are literally the only person who's there at every moment of your life, without you there isn't even a life you can share to begin with.
If you actually care about your children, you - have - to care about yourself first. That does - NOT mean you should put yourself first at all times, it just means you should take care of yourself so you are capable of being a loving and caring person. If you're miserable or dead you can't help anyone.
It's not "your life is now theirs" it's rather "you now share a life with someone and both of you - hopefully - want to keep that bond alive for as long as possible".
Your life and their life aren't in an "either/or" relation, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Well off course you feel that way, but If you're going to have kids yourself than the same applies to you too. Like the guy said It was your choice to bring them to this world for your happiness and that decision was made obviously without their permission and therefore their life up untill they become adults is your responsibility and obligations. Children Don't have obligations to their parents but if you raise them right they are most likely to Love you, like you love your parents but we don't ever take advantage of that love cuz like I said again, Your children isn't an investment nor a an act of kindness from your side they are your responsibility because they were born because it made you happy. It's like owning a Dog. You don't have any obligation to care for the dog that's running around in the street and if you do than that is an act of kindness but if you own that dog that he/she becames your responsibility.

It was 15 countries with there own cultures, history, religions and languages that were forced together by a totalitarian regime for only like 70 years or so. It did not erase other countries, their history, mentality and culture. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom (or initially the Kingdom of Great Britain) for how many sentries? And yet I bet most people will understand that it would be disrespectful to call a Scott- Englishman or Glasgow- a city in England... why is it so hard to show members of other 14 countries the same level of respect? Yes she came from the USSR, but it doesn’t mean she came from Russia. She was wrong to call Ukraine Russia, and it clearly shows she never cared where she came from. I don’t blame her, she was a child when she left and as a Jewish family you don’t have other nationality, but that doesn’t mean she was right or respectful.

And just like that Mila Kunis went from being just another celeb to someone I can genuinely respect and admire. There's no way she had parenting like that without it rubbing off on her in a positive way. If just 20% of parents in the world were like Mila's the world would be a much, much better place than it is now.

I know people are saying what great parents for doing that for her but I think that's incredibly irresponsible and does not make a good parent...yes she was successful but they had no idea that would happen regardless of how good she is because alot of succeeding and being famous is luck and being in the right place at the right time so to put everything you have into acting lessons when you have kids to support with food, shelter etc it is incredibly irresponsible. Mila is not an only child, she has siblings...so for her parents to throw all their savings into one child when they have responsibility to feed their other children too is just disgusting. kids needs someone to tell them no sorry we can't afford that and to be the adult figure and think responsibly.

My mom is a narcissist and often asked me for money and would get offended because I wouldn’t give her money all the time. She even had the audacity to call me stingy! She still calls me stingy even though I am the child that has given her the most money and bought her the most expensive gifts!
My mom tried to convince me to go to the nearby community college instead of the university I went to! She would literally turn off the light off on me when I was doing my homework at night after coming home from work and make me do a ton of chores after school before going to work.
I don’t give her money anymore as she doesn’t appreciate anything and has gotten meaner and worse, and I am a single mom who will spend my money on my children and not m y mother.

Or if god forbid I do get her to mention a shirt at target she likes on clearance and want to buy something else its "fucking stop. You already got me something. Your pissing me off"
