Wow the new project and cut software makes this process so easy. Thank you for the video, I was going to try the manual calibration but I think I may just stick with project and cut haha
I am kinda sad new people to projectors won’t know how wonderful the new software is unless that try “the old way” 😂 It’s absolutely amazing software, isn’t it?!
I just watched your video on how to use Adobe and was wowed by your ability to teach this to newbie! I followed along using my laptop and you made everything seem so easy. I just got my Epson 450W and feeling overwhelmed but now I know that if I watch your videos, it will all be made clear. Thank you for sharing!
No surprise this was linked by the group... glad I started following these before reading it in the group. You have been beyond helpful! Thank you! The confirmation against a printer pattern was an awesome suggestion thanks!
Thanks for the great videos. Can you please sometimes explain a bit more about how you do things. ie you mention go to the keystones but as a beginner Im not sure where that is or how you adjust it and what the adjustment actually does. Would be great to see what keys you press to get where you want to go. I understand all projectors are different, I have an epson also. thanks.
My projector is far enough to cover my 24x36 mat, but I can't get it focused when it's covering that large of a space, any tips on that part? Right now I have it "zoomed" in so it stays in focus. THank you!
Most projectors have a focus lever. Have you found that and adjusted it? It could also be that your resolution isn’t great. Or it could just be that a beam of light will never be quite as precise as a printed or drawn line but it’s usually clear enough to work for our purposes.
No, I don’t usually use the measurement boxes on the pattern other than to maybe double check things. If you’re doing a pinch zoom, on Xodo usually, then you have to use the boxes on the pattern.
Nope! I bet you don’t perfectly put patterns together either...or at least I don’t! I really like Angela Walters’ saying “finished is better than perfect”!
My adobe has a slider for the zoom percentage it isn’t letting me sign in 😩 can you save what it is zoomed to or you type it in everytime. It’s letting me type it in on the scale but then when I press enter it’s going to a different number 🤷♀️
It’s a download from the Projectors for Sewing Facebook group. Remember that you want to physically move your projector as much as possible to get it square before you use the keystone on the projector. I have to be doing something wrong. 😔 Every pattern I open I have to fight to find the zoom and every single one is different. And none of them line up quite right. I have a Kodak Luma 350 and I'm bout ready to give up. I'm concerned it's the projector and unfortunately there's no funds for a different one. Which projector are you using here?
Are you using Adobe? Or Xodo? In Adobe, once you calibrate, you should just have to type the number into the pattern-no fight. Don’t use test squares on patterns to calibrate. If the projector is giving inconsistent results, we have heard some of the “Amazon” projectors do that but I would want to be very sure that’s true before throwing in the towel. This is an old one so it’s my Short Throw, an Epson 410W.
There’s been talk of other places to have a group but I don’t think they’ve ever quite materialized. I have a website now-www.daileysewsandstuff.com and I need to do a direct link to Sasha’s guides there. Here are they are for now: 1. Visual Quick Start bit.ly/VisualQuickStartGuide 2. Saying which what I'm using? Which projector? My intention in these early videos was to make them as broad as possible since there weren't really any projector videos out yet and I wanted them to be as relevant to as many users as possible. My projector in all these early videos was the Epson 410W. The later UST video is an Epson 455WI.
What I’m showing here is how we calibrated my projector to be used for projecting sewing patterns onto my cutting surface. The projection needs to be accurate so that what I cut gets sewn up in the right size. This was filmed before I had a way to mount a camera above my cutting table so you do have to look quite closely to see what is projected and won’t have a great visual of the projected image. It is basically just rectangles with accurate sizing created by Sasha Sewist in the Projectors for Sewing group. The goal here is to get a perfectly square image and then to adjust the zoom until it projects the right size rectangles. Does that answer your questions? I can’t be sure what you’re referencing specifically.
Thank you for your reply. Yes you answered my question perfectly. I guess my comment showed my frustration level. Sorry. I not tech savvy and get quite frustrated with this stuff. Thank you again for putting this out there and helping.
I’m sorry you’re frustrated. Definitely read Sasha’s guide. Watch the video to get a visual overview. Use the rectangles and not the grid. Get your corners square by physically adjusting. And then post what you have in the group and ask for help. You can do this. I only know of one person who has asked for help in the group and decided to give up instead of working until she got it. This part is a pain but it is well worth the time you’ll save later!

Thank you!
Thank you for doing this video. I’m at my wits end.
I’m glad it helped!
Thank you guys!
Perfection is the enemy of "Good enough". :)
Yes! But sometimes it’s hard to know when to stop and what is good enough. Hopefully, this video helps people find that line!

Actually, I have a video releasing tomorrow (7/10) going over the Epson Menu options that should answer this question! Great timing!
@@DaileySewsStuff thank you. That’s fabulous, look forward to watching it.

So, do you not use the measurements box that comes with pattern? I'm a little confused there. Otherwise love this series, just finding it.

@@DaileySewsStuff Thanks, now I know what I have been doing wrong. Thank you so much for this series.
What mount are you using here? I have an Epson UST and I'd like to get a mount similar to this, just closer to the table. Thanks!
If you’re talking about the white metal one, it’s an Epson wall mount that came with that projector that we rigged to work this way.
@@DaileySewsStuff thank you.
I’m so glad to know that it doesn’t have to be perfect lol

Control + Y will bring up a text box. They updated Adobe!
the projector I got has a manual keystone, what grid are you using from your projector?

What are keystone adustments?
It’s an adjustment that most, not all projectors have. It helps the projected image look less like a trapezoid and more like a rectangle.
what about people who don't use facebook?
