    what a great series of videos. I can't believe it's already 22 episodes in, at roughly 30 minutes each, and still ignition and carbs to go! Really goes to show, when you look at a bike that's been rebuilt, just how much work has been done.

    If anyone's wondering, there are actually aluminum crush washers that go on the oil lines to the tank. They were probably still in the lines when you went to connect them, Dino.

    I was wincing at you starting it dry, without even bleeding the system by loosening the oil filter till gravity fed oil into there to get some of the air out. Hopefully there was enough assembly lube in there to keep the bearings safe, though you could hear from the starter sound when the engine finally got the main gallery's full and oil up to the crank and cam.

    Dean, your videos are very informative, I have been using them while I rebuild my CB750 as well. I was wondering how you plumbed in that oil pressure gauge. I am guessing that the thread on the engine casing is some sort of metric form of tapered NPT thread.

    Nice work Mate. All the pre fit tests you're doing will save you pulling the engine out after it's in the frame if it's not right. Interested to see how you do fit the motor. Easy to lay the frame over when it's in pieces but a b@stard on a complete bike. With your skills I suggest you invent and patent the Honda 750-4 engine stand / hoist so you can ease the engine out with it on the centre stand.

    Interesting - you can tell there's oil getting in by the sound of the starter. It seems less strained when the oil is flowing through the engine.

    • @Mekhanic1
      @Mekhanic1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because the engine was dry (eeeekk). Once the oil primed, the friction went down. I would not recommend doing what he did. You should fill the filter housing with oil and also pour some oil onto the cam, lifters, and into the cylinders with the plugs removed. etc.

    • @DeanSegovis
      @DeanSegovis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mekhanic1 Lots of assembly lube on everything so no worries. There was also light machine oil in the cylinders. I've built up dozens of engines over the years and I've done this same procedure many times with no problems. :)

    I am at this point with my build. The oil tank is filled and I cranked it for about a minute, and no oil coming to the top... Any suggestions? I'm afraid to keep the motor cranking even though I used assembly lube on everything you have so far. The oil level hasn't changed either. I'm thinking I have an air lock and need to loosen up the filter and see if oil is getting to the crank case. Please let me know what your thoughts are when you get a chance.

    Regarding the oil filter - Just curious why someone would include a used oil filter with this since you mentioned that the engine was torn down. Had the seller already cleaned it or did you get a dirty oil filter in a plastic Wal-Mart bag?

    • @DeanSegovis
      @DeanSegovis 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Becker It was still in the oil filter housing. There are two of a lot of things for this bike. That oil filter housing was very clean and painted so I used it. The filter was in another housing that was painted black.
