- My Golf Green is Overgrown after I went away for 2 weeks holiday. Loving how much it has thickened up though! Can't wait to keep putting on this bentgrass home putting green.

I have an 850 square foot pure bentgrass putting green in my backyard. It's a ton of work to maintain and expensive but I LOVE it. I used 007 and 777 cultivars when I first seeded three years ago. About a month ago I introduced T1 bentgrass to add density through a slice seeding about 5mm deep. It's tough to create and maintain density over years. I keep it at .125" (3.2mm or so) mowing with a Toro GreensMaster 1000. It will take a few seasons for it to really mature and be awesome. Enjoy it. It's super fun to have.

My wife thinks there is something wrong with me for watching someone cut their grass, but on a serious note for someone who loves their Honda mower and multitool I can't come at the price for the landscape blade. Keep up the vids. Central coast NSW
Great vid mate. Maybe a big reno job on the top half of the green, fill it in to raise it up might help get ride of the low point. A two tier green would look mint!

I'm confused. You laid tiff-tuff then put bent and rye over it, and then you are going to spray out the bent and rye? Then after that you are going to spray out the tiff-tuff?
How does that work? Are you killing off the turf? If you are, how does it come back?
So, curiosity question... With bent grass and Rye, does it just get overrun with Bermuda in the Spring and Summer? I assume the Bent and Rye go dormant in the heat. Curious, because I am considering Perennial Rye in place of my Bermuda in the Fall and Winter.

Out of curiosity, with all the work you put into your lawn, about how many months of dormancy do you get in your area compared to your neighbors? I get about a solid 3 months here in the Seattle area. Last mow usually around end of November (thanksgiving here), and first mow is usually end of Feb/early March. This is my second year in the house and first year actively trying to manage weeds and adding fertilizer, so curious to see how (if at all) that will impact how late into winter it grows here

Without soil sample to confirm t looks like Pythium Root rot has a hold of your green. Best guide I know for repair (you may already have it) Syngenta disease guide. Hope you got a handle on it.

Hey mate I have kikuyu and I’m looking at getting either a rover 45 like the one u are using now or a swardman which is a lot more expensive. What one in your opinion is better bang for buck? And how many blades in the reel do u recommended?

Looks so good. What other grass could you use apart from bent as this is so expensive in the UK.
If u are up to it, try planting seeds of it and see if u can buy the seeds on line..

@@chrisscahill54 heya mate, not sure if you're going to see this but I've just ordered 1kg of 007 creeping bentgrass from 'the grass people' for £44. Amazing. They don't advertise it, you need to email them asking for a bespoke mix and then they'll help you out with it. I'm in kent, England, so they'll deliver to you too.

Mind me asking if you've switched to bent and how it's going? I'm just about to give it a go because of what I heard on the lawn association TH-cam channel but everything I read online tells me not to do it and that it's going to ruin my life?! 😂🤷🏻♂️

Hey Matt I just overseeded my lawn how much should I wait till I feed it
I did my first overseed with rye in May, I put down granular starter fert at the same time, once it got two to three leaves, I started to dose it with some liquid fert to make sure all the young plants were getting what they needed, I’ve just put down the second half of my starter fert. I started off with lower N, higher PK, now I’m moving to higher N + iron with the liquid. That’s for Sydney type climate, hope that helps if Ben doesn’t reply.
