    when you have a knot, almost crash because the wing tends to stall, but still brake considerably on this side close to the landing spot. Interesting piloting skills

      if it's all the same guy, he should just sell his wings for his own good, then buy an A-wing and only do ground handling for a year.

    Rule number 1: Fly your aircraft! Rule number2: Don't panic! Get it away from the mountain and if there's enough height, try to solve the problem. If there is a knot in your steering line, there is no need to stall the glider. Go to the landing site, do curves only in direction of the shortened line and land it.

    Expect the Gradient Freestyle crash, all of these accidents could be prevented by keeping a cool mind in case of knots or other bad situations and by a proper takeoff technique! Spend time on ground handling and you will never again end in trouble while takeoff! Fly safe and allways happy landings!

    hang gliders weren't dangerous enough so somebody had to go and invent this contraption.

    • @m.sierra5258
      @m.sierra5258 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not more dangerous... Paraglider accident rate is comparable to motorcycles

    • @Goopy200
      @Goopy200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Repomeister Can't say I've heard a more stupid comparison. Do you go ride a motorcycle when there is ice all over the road and go fast and expect nothing to happen? No. With a paraglider choosing the conditions is everything. These accidents are easily avoidable by not launching on a shitty day or having the piloting skills to safely fly in strong conditions. Really obvious that this is pilot error and not due to the glider itself... didn't think it needed to be said.

    • @Goopy200
      @Goopy200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Repomeister That's a smarmy reply. They do exist but they don't just spawn out of nowhere. Like surfing, you wouldn't go ride a 50 foot wave if you didn't have the skills... unless you're a fool.

    • @Goopy200
      @Goopy200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Repomeister They are not an impossibility, they can be handled very easily if you're not making the wrong inputs. Your argument is just wrong, it's not subjective. You can also find out if it's going to be gusty by looking at multiple weather sources and making a decision whether or not to launch when you're actually on the mountain.

    Anyone else watching during Lockdown 2020? I was wondering if gliders carry a compass or some other device for the eventuallity of landing in the woods & becoming lost? On my tiny island hikers get lost on our hill even in these days of cellphones; also are these parachutes a write-off after an accident? How much do they cost? Best wishes to all you lockdowned fliers champing at the bit to get back up there!

    • @MuraKun
      @MuraKun 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      most seem to be inexperience and issues that were not addressed before take off during pre-flight or poor handling that leads to tangles at take off. Others seem like going in or out of a powerful thermal, there's a ring of turbulent air around the thermal that can cause a collapse, if you respond poorly it can cause an out of control spin as observed at 7:13 (under a second view, looks like they stalled the wing out by pulling on the breaks they might have interacted with a thermal that killed their wind speed). I'm still an armchair pilot, so a more experienced pilot can do a better explanation

    • @schl0tte
      @schl0tte 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      because they are a piece of shit and not meant to fly

    • @notafanatic
      @notafanatic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MuraKun this is not a thermal, the pilot was attempting a spin, you can see because he purposely brings the wing to stall before letting go of one side. The second giveaway is the wing is a gradient freestyle.

    • @notafanatic
      @notafanatic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MuraKun I read it again, carefully. It's still incorrect. The pilot is flying an acro glider, attempting an acro move, not because of a thermal.
