Thank you both for the informative video! I am trying to move to Thailand but the biggest thing holding me back is my little guy and the uncertainty of bringing a dog overseas. He's a good boy and all but he has terrible separation anxiety. Along with the visa issues (cant stay as long as I'd like) and Bangkok's general distaste of allowing dogs in their high-rises, it just feels like one problem after another. When I finally do decide to take the plunge, you can be sure I'll be using this video as my main guide. Looking forward to the next video :)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, most condos in Thailand don’t seem to allow dogs. Hope you are able to work out the logistics and move here soon. 😊
Sadly we are waiting for our dog to pass before we move to Thailand he is 8 and a half hope fully he will live forever but I’m hopeful he will live to at least 12 if I won lottery we would move tomorrow
This was super helpful!! We are planning to move to Thailand and were wondering the process when we have to quarantine for 10+ days and also how it would be after moving there with our fur babies. Thank you so much for the thorough video!
Great data I've an 8 year old long leg JR we live in Hong Kong but looking to retire to Phuket this or next year as said very informative video Hong Kong weather hits hi 30s so guess similar to Thailand is your JR ok with weather and snakes?
Thank you to the both of you. I initially planned to move to Thailand from Texas in 2021 with my Yorkie. All of the shots my dog needs was the easy part. But the paperwork is what worries me. I dont want there to be any doubt of me not having the right paperwork when I go there. Or the wrong things to be checked/unchecked. Like you, the flying part was turning out to be the most stressful part for me. Initially I booked Japan Airlines but they only allow you to keep the dog under the plane. I want to keep my dog with me at my seat. Korea airlines thankfully allows for that so I booked with them. Unfortunately, my health took a turn for the worse in 2021 so I had to cancel my flight. I am hoping to move there late 2023/very early 2024 though. So all of these stressors is coming back to me about the paperwork and the certification I need. I vaguely remember the timing about the certification being stressful too like you said. You couldn’t get it early because it had to be done like within days or something like that before your fought. 😱😱
Lovely video, thx..I was adopted by a cat when staying in CM, which I found out was abandoned by a family that moved back to their country, and now there’s a very nice dog at the house also, not so patiently awaiting my return..btw, thx again for the Kad Farang vid, you stepped all over my footprints and bike tracks lol 🙏🏻👍🏻✌🏻🕊

Pattaya has worked out on pet " infrastructure".. Vets on every corner. Big Tip: As everyone may know, No more dogs in plane cabin even under the "emotional assist" category. Must be a real service dog which ours did not meet. Just like you ours went in the baggage area.. Quatar is good!. For sure they put us at ease and we were terrified.... You have to check the airline that their storage can accommodate pets. Depends what type aircraft they are flying.
Thanks Kevin & Nid, we were happy to answer your questions and very glad you made it into Thailand with your doggies! Those are some great points for folks to know when looking into booking their flight, thank you for documenting that so well!!!! 😁👍
@@WylieWestie Hi Wylie. Thats good to hear. Hopefully they keep their end of the bargain. Please let us know. I did try them and found the paperwork and airport taxes for transit a bit ridiculous. Maybe if you get urs in cabin you'll avoid the headache. Good luck on your adventure.
Sometimes the internet can be a minefield for importing dogs but it's actually pretty simple as you explain as long as you follow the guidelines. I found the quarantine section at Bangkok and Samui airports were both super helpful too with any questions if there were any. I love living in Thailand and been in and out a couple of times and each time was super easy :)
Hello. I am bringing my dog with me and I am scared that he will be quarantined. Because he is so gentle and he can't be without me. Is there quarantine for all dogs???
Thanks for your inside view on things, I am kind of stuck in Europe and I am thinking if i should not reactivate my pre covid plan of moving to thailand...with or without my dog
This is fantastic. It seems there’s very little information on importing your dog so your video is amazing, thank you for this! I am going the other way: we are going back to Bangkok in a few days to pick up 2 dogs (teacup Pomeranians) we bought last month. We couldn’t take them back with us because they were not quite 4 months yet, and now they are. My question is this: how do locals and authorities feel about us walking our dogs in Bangkok? Our dog-friendly hotel is in Sukhumvit, so a very very busy area. I don’t think there are any parks. Would it be ok to have the dogs on leashes and walk around the city as we wait for our departure date?
Glad you enjoyed the video! That’s very exciting that you will be picking up your new puppies really soon. I would think you would be ok walking them around the city as long as they are on leashes. 😊 My only advice would be to make sure they have all of their vaccinations such as the round of parvo vaccines and rabies vaccine before having them in areas where they could come into contact with other dogs. Best wishes!!!
Great video! One question: does dogs need to go in quarentine when landed or was the lady who picked up the dogs just for when you got out of quarentine because of covid?
Glad you enjoyed the video. 😁 Dogs don’t have to quarantine when arriving in Thailand as long as you have all the required paperwork for them. We had to quarantine on arrival due to Covid regulations and could not take our dogs into the ASQ quarantine hotel with us (none of them allow pets) so that is why the dog sitter picked them up at the airport and brought them to our hotel when our quarantine was over. It was SO helpful and the doggies seemed to really enjoy their time with her. She sent us video and photo updates each day. 😊🇹🇭

One thing i've very interested in is how do you do border runs with dogs. Do you take them with you? If not what if you're not allowed back in the country? Seems like a very scary possibility.
We always try to make sure our layover is around 4-6 hours in case the previous flight ends up coming in late. This particular flight I think the layover in Doha was 5 hours.
Thank you so much for all that information! Iam from Brazil and I moving with my dog to thailand! How did you guys travel from bangkok to chaing Mai with your dogs? thanks so much!
Thanks for watching. We hired a transport company named Mekhe who drove us, the dogs and all our luggage from BKK to Chiang Mai in a really nice van. 😊🇹🇭
Nok Air also from time to time have pet friendly flights where you can take your dog on board with you in the cabin for 12,999 baht for 2 humans and 1 dog! I'm hoping to do this soon and will upload a video of the experience!
Our dogs are small, so we pick them up if a stray dog comes by. Most will not get aggressive but that varies. I’m not sure what would happen if we could not pick up the dog.
my concern is my yorkie is a senior and he eats special required foods And he's also on insulin 2x a day. Traveling with him is going to be very stressful I see bc he will need to given his insulin while traveling. 😢😢😢
If he travels in the cabin of the aircraft with you I would think you should be able to give him his injections and food. I would double check with your airline though just to make sure of their rules & regulations. Traveling with pets is stressful for sure.
Hi guys, thanks for the video. This is a very stressful process. Do you have any insight on shipping a dog from the US to Thailand alone? At that point I’ll already be in Bangkok, but don’t know how to go about the process. Khaawp khun khrap.
hello (great video)! I wanted to know if quarantining your pets was a must in Thailand because form my research it said it was not necessary unless your pet has any signs of being ill. And do you know anyone or anywhere for me to find information on traveling with a pet parrot?
Hi. So glad you enjoyed the video. No quarantine for pets that I know of unless they don’t have appropriate paperwork upon arrival. And not sure about traveling with a parrot, maybe a vet in your area could assist that’s familiar with international travel for pets. Best of luck. 🇹🇭🙏🏻😊
Hi @Narrowgate i won’t have enough time to get a health certificate but she is microchipped and have all vaccines needed would they just quarantine her ?
Here is a website you can visit if you are moving from the US to Thailand, it provides great information. @@TheNarrowGate Thank you so much. My wife and I will be leaving for Thailand (Chiang Mai) around the beginning of 2023. If you don't mind me asking, what type of Visa did you guys get and also, how much did it cost to fly your dogs from the US. Thanks again for all the great info.
Hey guys! I got one more question. How did your dogs react to the difference of the weather there? And how do you go from A to B in traffic? By own car or are some of the taxi's allowing the dogs inside :)
Thanks for watching the video. Our dog lady was there, but we didn’t get to meet her. The ladies at the airport who helped us with getting the dogs through immigration made sure that they made it to her car. Then the dog lady sent me a message so I would know for sure that she had them. It was very organized. 😊
Hi guys, found your video interesting. Wife and l will be moving to Thailand from the UK in October and will be bringing my 2 cats. Question: what airline did you use to fly your dogs from Bangkok to Chiang Mai? Thanks. Freddy
Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video. We hired a van to drive us to Chiang Mai after our quarantine in Bangkok. Best wishes in your move to Thailand in October! 🇹🇭😊
@@TheNarrowGate Thanks for reply. Comments you made about the great service received from Qatar Airways have probably solved my problem. Qatar have a daily direct flight to Phuket from Doha and it would no doubt do the cats good to get a break from the confines of the crates mid journey especially if the treatment they would receive in Doha is as good as you say. All the best, Freddy
You don’t need to renew anything for a pet once you are in Thailand. Just keep all of the paperwork they give you at the airport. And of course be sure to keep up on all vaccinations when you are here as well as flea/tick/heart worm preventative medicine.
Im planning on going to Thailand for a couple of months myself. How much did you pay per dog to transport? I already have a small dog who is one year old, but someone is offering me another puppy from their litter, and if I accept, I will have to figure out taking 2 dogs to Thailand. Do you know if they allow puppies on international travel to Thailand? And with the whole COVID situation, everything is just getting more complicated.
I can't remember exactly what we paid per dog, I think it was somewhere in the ballpark of $350 based on their weight...but don't quote me on it. ;). And it looks like as long as they are over 4 months old, you should be fine to travel to Thailand per this website. thaiconsulatela.org/en/visa/visa-information/bringing-pets-into-thailand/. Safe travels to Thailand!😊🇹🇭
Hello, i have a very small dog that i would like to take with me for a 2 months backpacking around Thailand. Do you think it is possible? Are hotels/restaurants/public transport/beaches okay with bringing small dogs? Thanks
You should be fine, most places seem to be pretty dog friendly especially restaurants with outside areas which is a lot of them. Keep in mind that Soi dogs (street dogs) are very prevalent all over Thailand. 🇹🇭 😎
Question…. What sort of time frame do you think is good for getting everything done prior to flight to Bangkok? Trying to decide if I can everything accomplished in 60 days…? Funny little side note is I lived in SC for 10 years prior to moving to Atlanta. Small world, we could be neighbors soon, lol!
I can't remember exactly what we paid per dog, I think it was somewhere in the ballpark of $350 based on their weight. We flew Qatar Airways. If you call your airlines, they should be able to give you a price. Best wishes for getting to Thailand with your pet!🇹🇭😎
We take them for a walk in the evening when the sun is going down. Any playtime during the day is short in duration. They haven’t been as active as they were back in the US and they do love the air conditioning…lol. 🤣😂
Did they the airlines check you the thai import permit when you checked-in for the flight or just the health certificate? I’m flying in a few days and still haven’t received it uet
If I remember correctly our airline checked all paperwork. You really do need to have the import permit received from Thailand in order to fly with your animals there. I ended up having to follow up with the import folks in Thailand to see where my import permit was. They were very helpful and they emailed it to me on the day they said they would send it. Use the same email address for them that you used when submitting the required paperwork. They were very responsive with us. Best of luck in your travels to Thailand with your pet. 😊 🇹🇭
And do you remember how long it took for you to get the import permit? On the website it say 7 business days but I have heard that it may take longer. I happened to have an urgent trip due to sick family member and therefore the trip was planned in a rush
You can actually get the import permit on arrival at the airport if the dog is travelling in the hold or with you in cabin (not cargo) although I didn't want to risk that and did it in advance, but it's an option if your airline will allow it. Our airline also required the import permit to be able to fly so wasn't an option for us, but Thailand do offer it.
My bet is that the dogs were chasing you because you were going past them at bicycle speed like a "prey", if you were just casually walking by without challenging them or showing fear they wouldn't have chased you, it's dog psychology.
Hi, what type of carrier did you use? We are moving this month with 2 cars and they’re having a hard time finding carriers that can be brought in the cabin. One of our cats is larger and wouldn’t really fit into the carrier recommended by the airline….

@@TheNarrowGate thanks 💜😊
Nok Air also from time to time have pet friendly flights where you can take your dog on board with you in the cabin for 12,999 baht for 2 humans and 1 dog! I'm hoping to do this soon and will upload a video of the experience!
@@WylieWestie Thank you so much! They never respond to my emails hahahaha!
@@maritzamendes6371 Try them on social media, they are usually pretty quick on there :)
Please tell us about walking them if there is problems with soi dogs
We are only familiar with the way we did it and we flew with the dogs.
hello (great video)!
Do you have any recommendations on accommodations that accepted dogs/pet friendly
We used a realtor who helped us find a place that accepts dogs. I would suggest that method. It does not cost you anything.
I'm not seeing the link. I would love to have all the info. We are moving back to Chiang Rai in Dec.
That’s awesome that you are moving back to Chiang Rai, beautiful place. Which link are you looking for?
@@TheNarrowGate the 4th link you provided isn't working. thanks.
@@trevorandmichele Try now
@@TheNarrowGate it works! Thanks. 🙏
Hi @Narrowgate i won’t have enough time to get a health certificate but she is microchipped and have all vaccines needed would they just quarantine her ?
Here is a website you can visit if you are moving from the US to Thailand, it provides great information. It will also give you the email contact information for the airport in Thailand you are flying into, I would contact them and ask...they were very helpful answering our questions. thaiembdc.org/2022/05/23/bringing-pets-to-thailand-2/
After your quarantine in Bangkok, how did you get your dogs to Chiang Mai.
Watch this for the answer. ;) th-cam.com/video/QPrRCFDOs3Y/w-d-xo.html We rented a van and driver.
@@TheNarrowGate Thank you so much. My wife and I will be leaving for Thailand (Chiang Mai) around the beginning of 2023. Will be using all of next year to prepare for the trip to live there for a few years. If you don't mind me asking, what type of Visa did you guys get and also, how much did it cost to fly your dogs from the US. Thanks again for all the great info.
For anything visa, watch this video. th-cam.com/video/vQt-PDfDQjA/w-d-xo.html Not sure what the cost was for the dogs.
Hey guys! I got one more question. How did your dogs react to the difference of the weather there? And how do you go from A to B in traffic? By own car or are some of the taxi's allowing the dogs inside :)
The dogs handles the weather charge real well. No problems. We have a car but I am sure that you can take a taxi if the dog is in a carrier .
We use Grabs all the time, there's also Grab Pet which is a bit more expensive but are guaranteed to take the dog. Super easy :)
Were you able to wait to send your dogs to the lady who pick them up at the airport before you go to the ASQ hotel? Thank you
Thanks for watching the video.
All the best, Freddy
just come across your video..got a american pocket bully (uk) wanting to move to thailand and bring my dog is it a major issue him being a bully ?

Question: the import permit is valid for 2 months I think? Is it easy to renew it or what happens when you live in Thailand for long term?
Hello,
i have a very small dog that i would like to take with me for a 2 months backpacking around Thailand.
Well hello neighbor and future neighbor! 60 days should be fine. No less than that. Are you bringing pets? If so that changes things just a tad.
@@TheNarrowGate yes I am bringing my dog.
We have 2 cats, are there many cat friendly hotels?
We use air bnb for our stays with dogs
Any information for service dogs
Not that I am aware of.
hi guys, i am flying with my pet very in about a month. any idea what the airline charge per pet as checked? +-
I can't remember exactly what we paid per dog, I think it was somewhere in the ballpark of $350 based on their weight. We flew Qatar Airways.
If you call your airlines, they should be able to give you a price. Best wishes for getting to Thailand with your pet!🇹🇭😎
Considering a move for 22, how are you all managing the heat/exercise for them?
I don’t exactly remember. If you email them and ask they should get back with you fairly quickly. Sorry to hear about your family member! 🙏🏻
Does your dog need to be neutered to bring to Thailand? Thank you!
Not that I’m aware of.

😄❤️❤️
My bet is that the dogs were chasing you because you were going past them at bicycle speed like a "prey", if you were just casually walking by without challenging them or showing fear they wouldn't have chased you, it's dog psychology.
Omg definitely was looking for this information thank you. Please if you have more tips to bring dogs to Thailand
Hi, what type of carrier did you use? We are moving this month with 2 cars and they’re having a hard time finding carriers that can be brought in the cabin.
One of our cats is larger and wouldn’t really fit into the carrier recommended by the airline….
Link is in the description. ;)
