Do you have an idea how much it would cost to rent one of the shops in Kagurazaka dori?
I know that rent is astronomical in Tokyo so I find it really odd that there are lots of small shops in Tokyo

I'm sorry I have no idea about the rent in Kazurazaka for commercial use. In the back alleys, I guess it might be a little cheaper but on the main Kagurazaka-dori,... I really don't know. Sorry.

I think you are right. Japanese in general probably love “trend” or “new stuff”. Especially in food industry, there are many new food imported from foreign countries and they easily become a fad. But many people get tired so fast and start looking for a new one.
