So these classes are not transferable credits? But rather a separate class? I always assumed that it was medical school classes and therefore transferable.
Do you know any people that got accepted with a lower GPA than 2.7? Because I walk this fall with my BS in psychology. My journey has been tough, my dad died from cancer and I didn’t fully cope with it so I started slacking and became very unmotivated and I also started doing drugs, and then after I stopped doing drugs I noticed that something was weird about me and come to find out I was going around being untreated for schizophrenia. Well a schizoaffective disorder- depressive type and I failed a whole freaking semester!!! Because I couldn’t focus and the voices were killing me. So last year fall I wanted to quit school because I kept goin to class and I felt like everybody was laughing at me at me all the time , and I was EXTREMELY PARANOID!!!! It was hard to take tests because I would know the answer but the voices would tell me otherwise and I would listen to them!!!!! I was talking to my professor one time and I broke out in complete tears because the whole time she was talking to me the voices kept saying “Drop out of school! You’re going to hell!” And all kinda stuff. I went home crying and I told my mom that I wanted to drop out and she was upset and she told me “YOURE SO CLOSE TO GRADUATING!!!! You’re a senior!!! Finish college!!!!” But I felt like the voices was right.......so after I got treated I became focused on my school work again and my grades are looking good but unfortunately my gpa will be around a 2.5 when I graduate. And I want to be a psychiatrist, because I’ve been so inspired! I have met so many people in the medical profession that have a mental illness and it gives me so much hope! My passion for psychology has grown tremendously since I began to realize that people with mental illnesses really DO NEED HELP AND I WANT TO HELP EACH INDIVIDUAL ONE BY ONE IF I HAVE TO HELP THEM SAVE THEIR WORLD!! So I am asking for help, is it to late for me to get into a SMP? I see all these other videos of people with 3.0s and it makes me sad because I want to hear the stories about people who had lower GPAS that grinded their way to the top! What do you think will be the best solution for me to work my way up so I can get accepted into med-school? Be completely honest with me.
You’ll need to do a special masters program in order to work on that GPA. It’s still possible tho. The application cycle for those starts in October and ends in June. Look for my video of a list of programs on my channel.
How are you paying for your program? I’m an undergrad at USC with a similar gpa and looking to go to a masters then to med school. I have stronger application outside of my gpa though (D1 Athlete, military, rotc, full time Job throughout college, certified lab tech, a lot of volunteering hours) I want to do this masters program to help but i don’t see a lot of options for financial support for potential grad students with low gpas. Can you please let me know how your approaching it if it’s not too personal. Thanks!
I came back to this video after realizing something crucial. I plan on completing a 1 year SMP at Tulane’s med school if accepted next fall. Then I ultimately plan on applying to med school for the 2022-2023 starting class as I am finishing up grad school but just realized I won’t have any graduate course work to submit with my med school application since applications are usually due in the fall/winter? So would I have to wait until the 2023-2024 class? To sum it up, I am wondering if you went into med school the fall after you graduated from the masters program or did you have to wait another year to matriculate?
Ya I matriculated into Med school the fall after my program. SMP students generally have a completely different time line with regards to application submission and interviews. You school will take care of you don’t worry.

Hi Michael! Thanks for sharing this video. I agree with you that having a master degree helps your undergraduate GPA. I am currently in this process. What other forms of contact besides fb can you be reached?
Quick question when should you do special masters vs regular masters vs biting the bullet and just apply to med school GPA wise? I tried my hardest to get a 3.5 but its only a 3.4 is it really not competitive if my mcat could be 515? (as a URM)
That’s a good gpa and with the right mcat you should be just fine applying to medical school. I have a video coming out on Friday talking about post bacc vs special masters programs.
How can I as an undergrad at UMKC in Kansas City really get my chances getting into medical school (M.D) because you said undergrads have only 4% getting into medical school, so what could we do differently besides having a good GPA and MCAT score? Better research? More volunteering hours? Job shadowing? Leadership?
If your gpa and mcat score are decent (above 3.2 and 502 mcat) then you’ll want to make sure you have patient care experience, hospital experience, volunteer hours, shadowing hours, leadership (optional), and research (optional). MD schools like to see research more than DO schools. Come chat with me on Facebook if you have more questions.
Michael hey man I have been following your vids... because of your insight about your biomedical science program at KCU.... liked what I heard about Kcu and I choose to apply. I got my accepted to KCU and really excited. Can I pick your brain about COB?
Hello, am a dental hygienist BS, but I want to be a doctor! I know I need to take some prerequisite! But does degree matter? Do you think Bcs is more like “dental” file I will get rejected? Please answer 🙏🙏
I have done a lot of research on link programs and never heard of this school. How did you choose programs geared for your situation? I have the same GPA but not an upwards trend due to personal reasons. Currently studying for my MCAT because its the best option for me right now. And thank you for being so open and transparent about your path to medical school. Gives me hope for sure
If you want to talk about your situation, shoot me a message of Facebook. Link I the description. KCU is a medical school that also offers a masters program that feeds into the medical school if you do well.
Hey I have a bachelor's in Business Administration. I didn't take science classes aside from biology. My GPA is a 2.77. I want to get into med school. I know I need to take a post bacc or Masters program to boost my grades.
Hi brother, I live in manhattan kansas lol 2 hours away. I have a 2.8 gpa. I really want to get into med school brother. do you recommend biomedical science as a masters program ?

I’m not sure what you mean by transferable. SMP is a masters program.

Could you recommend more schools that give interviews/admission after getting a high gpa in their bioscience programs? Thanks!
Off the top of my head: KCUMB, rocky vista, Touro and midwestern. The rest you’ll have to look up. Goodluck!

Ya man sure thing. Hit me up on the Facebook page. Link is down below in the description.
So your undergrad gpa was a 2.7? I looked up the requirements and it said 3.0
They accept below 3.0 gpa’s
it also says on their website that they will still review applicants if your gpa falls below a 3.0

Your undergraduate major does not matter as long as you take the pre requisites for medical school.
Michael Mazur thank you 😊
Absolutely! You can reach me on Facebook if you have more questions. Link in the description
Do they tutor you in the MCAT?
No tutoring but they offer the online kaplan course for free.
Do special master programs allow you to take your prerequisites??
No. You need to have your pre reqs done first.
@@ERdoctorMike ok thhanks
Did you have all of your pre-med reqs before applying to the masters program?
Yes. I was graduated with my bachelors when I applied.
Bro what was your gpa in the program
3.6

Hi! I have just under a 3.0 ... would this post bacc help me get to medical school ? I already took all my prereqs too...
An SMP would be extremely helpful check out the video I did comparing a post bacc and SMP
Michael Mazur would it be good if I just did a ms in biomedical sciences like you too??
It’s definitely a good option. Make sure if you do decide to do a masters that it is offered at a medical school.

That’s great! You’ll first need to do a “post bacc” and take all the pre Med classes.
